  • @musicmessengers1 see my 4str how to for alternate fretting for a bass w/out a C string. To play with the positioning in this video, the C is necessary;). As for the swells, those aren't my idea-it's how Cassie (original bassist) plays it when she does it live. Thanks for the comment:)

  • You don't really need to tune up to a 6 string bass. I was able to play this song on my 5 string bass, standard tuning. AWESOME stuff I really like that volume swell effect you used. Didn't ever think about that one

  • Wow, I'm surprised you're not worried about suggesting to people to tune their basses up two and a half steps. That's a lot of tension

  • @adamdonovan88 wasn't so much a suggestion as a provision for those who do use that tuning for their 5 string bass. i noted the high C tuning but then said i would keep it tuned to the low B. some people do a EADGC set up on their 5-string basses though. it would take setting up the bass entirely differently, using different strings, but it's not that unrealistic or unhealthy of a setup for your bass if done properly. i just didn't throw all that info in there.

  • amazing!

  • first off thanks for the vid. great tone. obviously having your bass through the amp or whatever would be good at the part you broke down the lesson, but i was looking for an easy/ easier way to play it on a 5 string without re-tuning. moving to the E chord is where i could use someone else's thoughts. i just end up changing positions a lot. if you have a thought please let me know. thanks again for nicely explaining the song and how you play it! take care.

  • @chiefskippy00 hey, thanks for your input! i really recommend you check out my other video, which is linked to in the info for this one, for how to play this song w/out C string, (BEADG)

the difference is in the 1st and last chord positioning.

sorry for the low volume during the explanation. i don't have a bass amp, and the parts where the bass is amplified i am just running it through a direct line-in to the computer, and so i wouldn't be able to speak and play at the same time.
