microsoft success is driven by the fact that they were early. they are not innovative in any way anymore, their current success solely depends on suppressing competition
Microsoft Success Driven by forcing corporations as well individual users to use their products. Tho I have to say, since sp3 I am happy user of Windows XP who's not going to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7
If the purpose of philanthropy is to "help" people by "providing [indoctrinating] people with a way of thinking and being that allows [requires] them to be open and receptive to constant learning [struggling to keep up with what the system wants them to do]" then IMO that sort of philanthropy should be outlawed.

Constant learning=
Constant theft of competitors intellectual property.
Constant monopolistic tactics.
Constant insistence on proprietary technology and closed and centralized standards.

It was all about constant learning;
not about cornering the market by driving out the small business or making monopolistic deals with the good majority of hardware companies~
no, it couldn't have been that!
or how about "borrowing" technology from businesses big & small, or Gates pushing for 'free trade' agreements around the globe?
Nah, his success is all just driven by 'constant learning'.
heh.
