on games i set the soundcard to DTS 5.1 and on optical i set it to movie.... not sure if thats 100% correct but it sounds good ;)

i have an ECP 4500 HD digital crt projector.

It can handle 720p and 1080i and games and movies look better then most dlp/lcd's i have seen. crt projectors are older but better than most digital box's.

1024x768 ain't a bad resolution at all. 1920x1080 is a higher resolution but makes little difference unless your source is is the same.

35mm film on 1080p bluray etc. is only a quarter of the resolution of the original print

remember just because something is newer it doesn't mean its better.

I have the Logitech Z5500 on optical cable from my Asus Xonar D2X soundcard... running Crossfire HD2900XT graphics cards on a 3.4ghz overclocked Q6600 quad core pc...

sound is unbearalby good!!!! the graphics are being held up by the fact that I have to run them at 1280X1024... with my graphics cards I could run it 1080p and still get 100fps ;)

if you do want to use a projector, try and get one thats HD... most cheap projectors will only display 1024X768... so see if you can get one with a good high resolution or it will look fluffy and crap...

This one isnt great but looks pretty good (native resolution is 1280X1024)... still id prefer a better res!

from my next door neighbor, 2nd hand, £300... but you can get pretty good ones for cheap thesedays online... just make sure it has a decent resolution and a lot of lumens so its nice and bright :)
