@BonakiD24 I know what you mean. Bernie likes F1, but he loves money too. He has to try and please the fans, the FIA, and well everyone in the sport. So when he makes the engines more economical, the fans probably don't like it, but FIA and advertisers like it. He does a lot of compromise.
I do believe he is trying to find a balance, between old style F1 and making new changes. But sadly for him, you can't please everybody.
@BonakiD24 But what he said about Felipe is true, many people underestimate his ability. But I disagree with Bernie with this Sky stuff, I think that was a bad move.
Bernie is such an idiot. He hopes that gold medals will make drivers want to overtake more which it will. But it will put the drivers lives at risk they will go for silly moves because they want to get the gold medals. And they will both have a crash and thats not F1. Bernie your a NOB!
Should go back to what it was; points for the top 6 finishers, from 10 pts to 1 pt, with Winner (10) having 4pt adv. over Second (6). Then, Ferrari, who moan and whinge for rule changes whenever they aren't winning, might be satisifed atleast
British race fans should be livid over his comments about not needing a British GP. They should picket his office and demand an apology. The way he treats fans like a piece of shit is insane. He used to love F1, now it is nothing more than a sack of money. What a miserable little dweeb.

Im just trying to look at F1 as it comes, without raising personality issues here. And what I see is that using the ´´gold medal`` rule (I just dont like this name, gold medal! How about Gold Trophy?), only 12 times out of the last 50 years the champion would be different, by a little margin, but the points count would levitate anyway around the best there were at the time. So, can anyone say for sure what the fairest deal was and is?
(1958) S. Moss instead M. Hawthorn (64) J. Clark inst. J. Surtees (67) J. Clark inst. D. Hulme (77) M. Andretti inst. N. Lauda (79) A. Jones inst. J. Scheckter (82) J. Watson inst. K. Rosberg (83) A. Forget about Ecclestone, how about a comment about the drivers, including Mark Webber, that agrees with the gold medal system. Then who is expecting something to be forever in F1, no matter which way it comes? So, does it really matter? Does the results are going to be so discrepant from one way to the other? Or are you guys so penalized that someone that seem like putting so much effort into it and comes in second or third so many times like, say Nelson Piquet, should have his place in glory?
How can FIA be so stupid? Eccelstone suggests the medals system and basically everyone is critical of it from day one. Then FOTA comes up with a new points system which has the approval of every single team. Then a few weeks later FIA turns down FOTA's suggestion and decides to go with the most wins (but only for first place). The teams wanted none of that which surprised FIA and made them want to postpone it a year. Why was that surprising to FIA and why would the teams want it a year from now?
Bernie actually told Max that he had spoken to all the teams and said they approved of the winners system. So looks like Mr. Ecclestone got caught lying there... still, when FOTA gave their alternative before the vote, it's surprising how the FIA were still under the belief that the teams wanted the winner take all system...
Gah, the people in F1 can be so confusing sometimes.
Probably not the first time Ernie has tried to pull a fast one. Did he think that Max would never find out? That man works in mysterious ways. Actually they both do. Funny how Max said that this would be his last term if only he got to remain president after the scandal but now he's talking about running for president once more.
(continuation) And if they can keep them there, they ARE the champions, period. As for Ecclestone senility, well, what can one say from a guy that throughout his successful life came out short only in an area out of his control, his stature.
(continuation) It is up to each one of them to reach stardom by themselves or bend over to destiny. To say we should boycott F1 is just a joke because as the rules change everyone will be flocking to the tracks or glued on to the screen just to see how the new thing works. To say team orders are going to make a difference?! May be! But it is not so easy to keep two cars of the same team in the two first places for team orders to take effect. But then, there is where the race starts.
I said I was done, but your comments deserve a replay! I think F1 is and has to be a very much conforming type of sport when comes to regulations. As F1 is considered a lab to new technologies we have to convey that as they advance and change so would the rules. What are the best rules is just up for grabs. I dont think any one could ever come up with a fair to everybody type rule. There always will be the super teams, the not so super and the grid fillers.
Frigging senile piece of shit! I liked the 12 point for a win suggestion and this idiot has to ram through his own senile crap. This idiot keeps fucking with the rules without first thinking how they are REALLY going to change things. We should start boycotting F1 till this mofo starts to listen others too and not just the voices in his head. Team orders are going to make a HUGE difference now and the driver championship winner may be like 95% sure after just half of the races.
Who gets lots of second´s and third´s and fourth´s should get to be second, third, fourth in the end and not champion (first)). Champion title is reserved to the driver and to the team that had the best car, gave it all and risked it all, all the time. Although when pushing to the limit the entire time one might not make any points at all due to the increased risk factor, that is the way Formula One, the pinnacle of the sport, has to be!
My idea of Formula One is not to see who best manages a race car to the finish line. I want to see bloody hell race from beginning to end. Second? Third? F*** that! Now, instead give me a thumb down or even a finger, just make a reasonable comment. I´m done.
Very good Ecclestone! If was not for you most likely Formula One would be dead in a long while. The idea of a gold medal or a trophy for the first place to be accounted like the most important factor in the race is awesome. This is a spectacle of Champions and what counts is which one can give all he can in a given moment and win the race and not of which one can save most points in the pig bank. Tell me about a competition where second or third place means anything? So, why in F1?
Bernie must be thinking "worst idea for the sport must be the best...im on to something here...yeh, yeh, medals!" There can be no other explanation for this idea. Unless...the ultimate conspiracy theory...Bernie has become extremely pro green and is slowly trying to eliminate F1 for the good of the environment. This proposal is an absolute disgrace for Formula 1. The greatest thing about Formula 1 is its history. Can you imagine what the record books would look like? Lewis Hamilton got 'x' points in his career along with 5 gold and two silver in the 2009 series. Pathetic!!
And why can't he just increase points given for victory? I mean, give 12 points for first place, it will be like in good old days - 4 point advantage. Or, if it is so important to have "golden" victories, give something like 15 point per victory. Wouldn't be enough? I just can't imagine, where this guy left his brain...
OVERTAKING !!!!!! So if Button and Sutil are having a battle for 17th place are they going to go hell for leather to get into the top 3 for a bloody bronze medal ? Aint gonna happen you muppet Ecclestone. Gone totaly gaga this time !!!!!
IndyCar is much better than F1 and allways was. But I like medals system. The only problem with it I have is that champion could be decided much earlier than with points system. For example there are 17 rounds. Driver A wins first 9 - so after first 9 races he is already champion. Then he can't keep it up and no top 10 finishes in last 8 races. Driver B runs 9 times second in first 9 races then wins 8 races.
Ok Ecclestone is a COMPLETE asshole he canceled F1 race in France ,north america and maybe even in China just because its not profitable in the short term for him. For god sakes the guy is a billionaire he's only motivated by money this event was probably the biggest sport event in Canada (where I live) and probably also very important in France. He's a selfish bastard and I hope he'll get hit by a car ,just for the irony.

F1 doesn't need you or your shit comments or ideas you dwarf money robbing cock!
So ( given 19 races this year ) what happens when end of season and
No1. driver has 10 gold, and nothing else
No2. driver has 9 gold and 10 silver
The old system would mean
No1. driver has 100 points, and wins season
No2. driver has 170 points and looses???!!!
you think its then fair for No.1 to win the championship? Impossible out comes yes, but shows the system is flawed
Just fuck off Bernie. Fuck off.
