I do believe he is trying to find a balance, between old style F1 and making new changes. But sadly for him, you can't please everybody.

Im just trying to look at F1 as it comes, without raising personality issues here. And what I see is that using the ´´gold medal`` rule (I just dont like this name, gold medal! How about Gold Trophy?), only 12 times out of the last 50 years the champion would be different, by a little margin, but the points count would levitate anyway around the best there were at the time. So, can anyone say for sure what the fairest deal was and is?

Then who is expecting something to be forever in F1, no matter which way it comes? So, does it really matter? Does the results are going to be so discrepant from one way to the other? How can FIA be so stupid? Eccelstone suggests the medals system and basically everyone is critical of it from day one. Then FOTA comes up with a new points system which has the approval of every single team. Then a few weeks later FIA turns down FOTA's suggestion and decides to go with the most wins (but only for first place). The teams wanted none of that which surprised FIA and made them want to postpone it a year. Why was that surprising to FIA and why would the teams want it a year from now?

Who gets lots of second´s and third´s and fourth´s should get to be second, third, fourth in the end and not champion (first)). Champion title is reserved to the driver and to the team that had the best car, gave it all and risked it all, all the time. Although when pushing to the limit the entire time one might not make any points at all due to the increased risk factor, that is the way Formula One, the pinnacle of the sport, has to be!

IndyCar is much better than F1 and allways was. But I like medals system. The only problem with it I have is that champion could be decided much earlier than with points system. For example there are 17 rounds. Driver A wins first 9 - so after first 9 races he is already champion. Then he can't keep it up and no top 10 finishes in last 8 races. Driver B runs 9 times second in first 9 races then wins 8 races.
