24 years ago I had a home birth in the Philadelphia area. It was fantastic and much better than the hospital birth that I had 7 years before that! It was illegal but totally worth it! I thanks the midwife that allowed me to have this home birth after having a c section the first time around!

That lady's a good midwife. My only qualm is she needed to clean out the baby's mouth and nose with a bulb syringe. It sounded like it was choking a tad bit. But other than that, that was pretty darn cool.

@mandyschutt Home birth in France is very, very, very rare and isn't encouraged. It is even hard to find a doctor or midwife that will agree to follow you to do a homebirth. Then you have things that social security won't pay for because it is a homebirth. I wanted to do a homebirth and it was difficult to find someone so I went to the hospital. Birth in France is very medicalized. This is a great show but it isn't the norm by any means.
