By haveing opposite sex friends one gets good understanding of the opposite sex in so many levels, such as personality-, humor-, interest-, hobby- simmilarities and differences based on sex or personal preferences! Btw, do not read from the Quran before starting a debate unless you alos read from the Bible, Talmud, Buddhistic Tipitaka texts, hinduic Vedas texts etc etc. since a democratic debate is based on democrasy and not bound to ANY religion! (2:10 to 2:30) - That was realy offensive! :(
