Syd Field is okay, but he contradicts himself constantly. How is it that "resolution" means "solution" when it is the same word with "re-" added as a prefix to change its meaning? And, how is the resolution "not the end" when his little structural chart shows up and says that it is?
Question; How "anal" are Producer's and Agents when it comes to how the set-up is formatted? My main character is of course in Act 1, but not at the opening of one of my screenplay's.
@ClickTheFeature That's fine as long as the audience can identify the protagonist. Your character should be within the first ten pages up to the inciting incident. Producers and agents only care if the story works and consists of action to keep the plot forward.
@ClickTheFeature Essentially just go out and meet people. Attend film festivals, know people connected to the industry, make and retain contacts. There are websites where you can post your scripts for producers to read. There are also events where you have a one one one session with producers in order to pitch them your story. This unfortunately, comes with a hefty fee to it.
Thank you for featuring such priceless information for us civilians looking to make it as screenwriters from inside the industry! I've already begun to reanalyze two of my completed screenplay's. I'm thankful to have found your site before starting with my third.

@filiwian Awesome! Any suggestions on where a first time screenwriter should start looking to getting their scripts out?
