And when the cast member said to turn your camera off, why didn't you listen? Oh WOW, you got their lockers and some vending machines. Real breaking media coverage there. Big frickin deal.
I am jealous! i would love to get stuck on this ride!! i mean, if you ask you can take a picture with one of the things in the ride (i know cuz i got stuck on the matterhorn and i asked if i could take a picture with the yetti and they let me)

Why are people so offended about filming backstage? Its backstage where nobody ever sees, so its interesting. We are all curious about it. Its the United States of America, doesn't the cameraman have a right to film it? Nothings gonna happen to Disney if it is. Its freaking Disneyland, not a top secret underground missile base. All this person was doing was not wanting to comply with these communist's demand to not film for whatever stupid reason, a perfect sensible and legitimate thing to do.

It was cool to see backstage but you could get in trouble for this footage. it wasnt so smart to keep filming after the cast members told you not to like 10 times.

The area being filmed down stairs below New Orleans had a cafe for cast members but it was closed for a expansion for a kitchen that preps food for Club 33 and the French restaurant upstairs. They have a elevator that goes up to 3 floors. the area that people are exiting from ends up by the restroom near the Hunted Mansion.
This is exactly why the blinking LED on my camera is blacked out with flat black paint. No one but me knows when its running and when its not. Looks like its off at all times. -- Dave.

@twotonechad nah things are alot cheaper backstage. i got to go backstage and i happened to take a look at the vending machines (they sell socks for the cast members in the machines...I took a picture). prices ranged anywhere from .95 to $2.00

I love seeing backstage Disney, thanks! Walt himself did many programs showing the backstage, for example all the electronics used for the Tiki House. This new generation of Disney cast don't have the same spirit as Grand Dad Disney. He had nothing to hide and it doesn't ruin the magic showing it.
This happened to us but in WDW and we weren't evacuated as it was towards the end of the ride. As we went on a couple of minutes before the evening parade Peter Pan came out wearing a mac and wellies and pushed our boat towards the exit and basically rescued us without being in his official character. However the rest of the boats were evacuated but we were just pushed out of the ride.
I wouldn't wanna see the back stage stuff anyway. It would ruin the magic of disneyland for sure. Besides its rude to try to video tape shit that you should know better then to do so to begin with. Still, its cool watching the rides break down and no one getting hurt.
i remember going on this for the first time. i think i was six or seven, and i was too scared to get on. so, one of the employees went and got me a plastic necklace (those ones with the plastic "gold" nuggets on them) and said that the necklace would protect me everywhere in disneyland.
...but that's what i like about disney. they don't just say "too bad" and kick you out. :)

There are always jerks who photograph rides even when they are asked not to. Last time I went on Pirates this stupid old bitch was photographing the dark parts, lighting them up and ruining the atmosphere, and people were yelling at her to stop and she just ignored us and kept filming. I wanted to throw HER and the camera overboard!

@Yowzahh I know. The same thing happened to us on Soarin'. Someone was flash photographing the screen every 15 seconds. Talk about truly ruining the moment. At least it was on my second ride and not my first.
You can video anywhere on stage. Backstage (or off stage) is NOT allowed to be videotaped because it can reveal trade secrets. Image a competitor getting a glimpse at the insides of Disney. Even if you take a backstage tour, you can't see EVERYTHING. Plus, they don't want this footage getting out and ruining the magic. They can legally ban you from filming backstage

my family got suck too, but we stop a the bottom of the frist drop for 2hrs. we were evacuated. we saw a different tunnel, and it lead to the exit to indiana jones. theres a wooden door/wall but poeple miss it becuase its before the cave part at the exit. also we had to walk up 4 set of stairs just to get out.
They ask you not to film backstage because even cast members are not allowed. It's to do with terrorists after 9/11. You can't show anything backstage because it's a security violation. Every time video gets out it's a breach in security and makes the park vulnerable to attacks. It's has nothing to do with cast members not wanting to 'ruin the magic' as some have said. I'm sure they could care less to be quite honest. But I have to say as an entertainer who has worked for Disney I frown uponthis
once, we were on the jungle cruise and then we turned around. i think the driver made an error or something because we just drove teh boat back there was no walking. when we got back to the dock we got a ride pass that allows u to go to the front of the line its evn better tahna fastpass!
I was on Mission: SPACE. I think someone vomited or something and they delayed the ride for a good 15 minutes. One of the ride operators was cool enough to let down the front panel so we could play with the buttons and switches (He honestly did ask "Hey, guys. Do you want me to take down the screen so you can play with the switches?") Afterwords, we got the Breakdown Fastpass. I used it the next day!

Was this evacation done when there was the chemical gas leak on the ride? I remember it was in the news that the Disney employees escorted the people off the ride but did not direct or escort them to the First Aid to get treatment. This happend in the mid 90's. That was back when Eisner was still in charge and didn't make the rides safe back then. Thank God the RAT is no longer in charge.

This happened to us but in WDW and we weren't evacuated as it was towards the end of the ride. As we went on a couple of minutes before the evening parade Peter Pan came out wearing a mac and wellies and pushed our boat towards the exit and basically rescued us without being in his official character. However the rest of the boats were evacuated but we were just pushed out of the ride.

I wouldn't wanna see the back stage stuff anyway. It would ruin the magic of disneyland for sure. Besides its rude to try to video tape shit that you should know better then to do so to begin with. Still, its cool watching the rides break down and no one getting hurt.

i remember going on this for the first time. i think i was six or seven, and i was too scared to get on. so, one of the employees went and got me a plastic necklace (those ones with the plastic "gold" nuggets on them) and said that the necklace would protect me everywhere in disneyland.
...but that's what i like about disney. they don't just say "too bad" and kick you out. :)

There are always jerks who photograph rides even when they are asked not to. Last time I went on Pirates this stupid old bitch was photographing the dark parts, lighting them up and ruining the atmosphere, and people were yelling at her to stop and she just ignored us and kept filming. I wanted to throw HER and the camera overboard!

@Yowzahh I know. The same thing happened to us on Soarin'. Someone was flash photographing the screen every 15 seconds. Talk about truly ruining the moment. At least it was on my second ride and not my first.

You can Video tape anywhere In Disney. Check with Disney Main Office write a letter to Disney family or CEO

You can video anywhere on stage. Backstage (or off stage) is NOT allowed to be videotaped because it can reveal trade secrets. Image a competitor getting a glimpse at the insides of Disney. Even if you take a backstage tour, you can't see EVERYTHING. Plus, they don't want this footage getting out and ruining the magic. They can legally ban you from filming backstage

my family got suck too, but we stop a the bottom of the frist drop for 2hrs. we were evacuated. we saw a different tunnel, and it lead to the exit to indiana jones. theres a wooden door/wall but poeple miss it becuase its before the cave part at the exit. also we had to walk up 4 set of stairs just to get out.

They ask you not to film backstage because even cast members are not allowed. It's to do with terrorists after 9/11. You can't show anything backstage because it's a security violation. Every time video gets out it's a breach in security and makes the park vulnerable to attacks. It's has nothing to do with cast members not wanting to 'ruin the magic' as some have said. I'm sure they could care less to be quite honest. But I have to say as an entertainer who has worked for Disney I frown uponthis

once, we were on the jungle cruise and then we turned around. i think the driver made an error or something because we just drove teh boat back there was no walking. when we got back to the dock we got a ride pass that allows u to go to the front of the line its evn better tahna fastpass!

I was on Mission: SPACE. I think someone vomited or something and they delayed the ride for a good 15 minutes. One of the ride operators was cool enough to let down the front panel so we could play with the buttons and switches (He honestly did ask "Hey, guys. Do you want me to take down the screen so you can play with the switches?") Afterwords, we got the Breakdown Fastpass. I used it the next day!

Was this evacation done when there was the chemical gas leak on the ride? I remember it was in the news that the Disney employees escorted the people off the ride but did not direct or escort them to the First Aid to get treatment. This happend in the mid 90's. That was back when Eisner was still in charge and didn't make the rides safe back then. Thank God the RAT is no longer in charge.
