  • This episode is one of my favourites, it so different, it's like a play, proper stage worthy acting, smoke and mirrors. Good writing.

This one little set gives off so much isolation. One of the only episodes I remember of that particular series, that and the 'final'.

  • Roast beef.

    Bananas.

    xD

  • @thesaddleclubrocks98 that made me want both of those :D

  • i thought this episode was awesome. not scary. it looked really hard to do the repeat words the passengers were saying. a really good practical joke to do to your parrents or something. or to your teachers.

  • lord of the flies in 45 minutes

i wonder if midnight could repeat tv shows

and what would the psychic paper say if you gave it to midnight and then took it back

  • one of my favourite episodes and most definitely one of the scariest!

amazing script, clever camera angles, superb acting, pretty people (david and colin =P) AWESOME!

  • Merlin is so awesome! XD Yay for Colin

  • One of the creepiest (and best) Doctor Who episodes since the reboot.

  • So well made episode.. I lvoe this one.. It creeped me out so much

  • Always the bananas

  • i only watched this cos of colin morgan... <3

  • BECAUSE IM CLEVER! lol i love that line XD

  • haha, I love how Jethro said 666

    =P silly goth boy

  • I DONT GET IT WHY DOES BBC DELETE MY TWO MIN DR WHO VIDS AND LONG ONES LIKE THIS DONT!!! SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME!

  • @SuperBrad5000

Potentially because a lot of us try to keep quiet about these, so they stay up, Youtube unknowing?

  • @VampireYoshi ok thanks for letting me know:)

  • The square route of pi is 1.34772453850905516027298167483341 wowww.

  • LOL 03:21 - 03:51

    hahah

"Shamble Boble Dible Dooble" hehehhe creepy but funny

  • They have Patrick Troughton's son on this episode, I wonder if they asked Sean Pertwee to be on Doctor Who?

They already had Peter Davison's daughter on...

  • That actress had to memorize every single line of everyone to do this perfectly. That blows my mind. <3

  • @eighttimesacharm she was looking at videoscreens at the back of the set.

  • @phantomhurricane666 Anything that helps is cool with me! She still needed to know the rhythm and pace of the other actors to keep in time with them.

  • the reptile like movements and the creepy smile she has. freak me out

  • shamble, bobble, dibble, dooble! that had me cracking up!!!! :D

  • Yes the doctor is clever :)

  • This is probably the scariest episode of Doctor Who, aswell as "Blink". Matt Smith won't re-create this ever.

  • @BlueQBlue Matt Smith has just started his tenure, so we don't know what he is going to create or re-create....

  • @BlueQBlue

Matt Smith doesnt write episodes for Doctor Who....?

  • @Dancingwithotters

Re-Creating meaning acting. Matt Smith won't ever re-create such an exquisite masterpiece like David Tennant.

  • @BlueQBlue

Not to create any beef, but Davids performance was only a small factor concerning the masterpiecery of this episode. To put all of it's sucess on his shoulders is more than a little unfair... And Matt Smith for the win. :)

  • @Dancingwithotters

Haha. It's no problem. But you must admire the music/sound in this episode. And I understand that the credit shouldn't all go to David Tennant. But no doubt do I still think he is the best "Doctor". This is just my opinion, and i'm sure many others will agree with me, besides..he has been voted number 1 Doctor through poll. ;)

  • @BlueQBlue

Im sure that'll change sure enough, give Matt time... :)

What really is important though, is that we both loved this episode and continue to consider Doctor Who as pure concentrated awesome. To the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th doctors! (clinks glass)

  • @BlueQBlue

    For you it won't.

For many others, it certainly will.

  • @rusherf4g

True. That was just my opinion.

  • @BlueQBlue

Matt Smith isn't the writer. He's the main actor.

    There's a difference, mate.

  • @BlueQBlue Agreed, no one can ever replace David :P tough the series is just so awsome that even with other actors it will still be awsome :P

  • professor i'm glad....that you've got an absolute definition of life in the universe but perhaps the universe has got ideas of his own.

  • really, they just shouldn't have made it worse. no one should have said anything. that way she couldn't repeat or take over.

the square root of pi is bla bla a whole bunch of digits i can't be bothered to discern 341 wow *raises eyebrows*

they're all talking at the same, so she can't repeat them all, she only has one mouth. just no one talk, and there's nothing to repeat.

  • Bananas.

  • This must have been so hard to film...

  • roast beef, bananas, the medusta(can't spell it) cascade.......BANG!.....Rose Tyler Martha Jones Donna Noble Tardis......shamblebobbledibbl edooble. oh doctor you're so handsome. why yes i am, thank you.abcdefghijklmno-

i don't want it becoming me, or things could get a lot worse.

    oh, now you're so special.

as it happens, yes i am.

but how did you know what to do?!

    BECAUSE I'M CLEVER!!!

and by the way, brilliant acting. fantastic. imagine filming that. they'd have to get it exactly right.

  • I always hate this episode it gets me mad how stupid some people are! And how ignorant humans can be! Also it bugs me how they jump to conclusions and are prejudice! But still this is one of the best episodes of doctor who! I miss russel t Davies he made a lower quality doctor who , dream like on a lower budget than Steven vmoffat ! And it's awesome how russel t adds clues to the finale ex. Lost moon of poosh and rose! While Steven made it obvious with the crack which still doesn't make sense

  • @aphung7 How does the crack not make sense? I understood it...

  • Comment removed

  • shamblebobbledibbledooble.

  • 9:47

Isn't that the guy who played Merlin? Sure looks, sounds and acts like him!

"You called us humans like you wern't one of us!" Maybe that's coz he's not.......

  • @TweetyWhite Yeah. Colin Morgan.

  • 0.0 ... did she stop copying?

  • i wonder why the doctor didn't use his psychic paper when everyone's accusing him.

  • Just realised that the young guy is Merlin!

  • "Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Donna Noble TARDIS"

"Oh Doctor, you're so handsome. Why yes I am, thankyou"

i love that part so much :D

  • "Shamble bobble dibble dooble" Haha, I bet they had a few cuts when saying that!

  • Being clever is the answer to everything

  • Team Jethro

  • @twilightamy94 i go with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If Donna was there this would just be 100% Donna freak out.

  • Jehtro is really smart- if not obnoxious. But he's intuitive (as children/younger people are). Kinda like the doctor

  • Frigging scary as hell, and it's all just a woman repeating what you are saying....brilliant.

  • Why don't they just all speak at the same time? It can't copy them then!

  • "Oh, like you're so special."

"As it happens, yes I am."

    WIN!

4:34 -> Somehow, this is one of the scariest shots ever filmed. Every time the camera turns to her she's just there, sitting and watching... Always staring at them, never blinking ... GODDAMN this woman scares the bejeesus out of me! Superb casting choice. Btw, could you imagine her and the Weeping Angels in the same episode? I'd die of a heart attack just trying to watch that mindfuck O_o'

  • Roast beef, bananas, The madusa cascade, BANG! Rose tyler, martha jones donna knoble Tardis!! Shamble-boble-dible-dooble! 707 I LOVE that part! I could watch this one OVER & OVER!

  • why did rose appear randomly on the screen in part 2?

  • How can you predict what I 'm about to say?

Because I READ THE SCRIPT FOR THIS EPISODE! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!

  • 5:12 anyone else notice Colin Morgan's nails are painted black?

  • SCARY!

  • "666" LMFAO

  • Awsome

  • Man these people are fucking idiots >__>....Why doesn't anyone just LISTEN to the doctor. He said shut up.......SO SHUT UP!!! fucktards >.>

  • @otuonyec While only one was being more directly possessed by 'Midnight', the others were being affected as well. Their darker natures were being exploited and prodded to also be 'mind slaves'. So yeah, while some would break free every so often (and the hostess at the end surprisingly completely did), they were all being made to not listen to the Doctor.

This reminds me of when the Doctor faced Satan in Series 2....

  • Man, these passengers are idiots, aren't they? Just shut up and let the Doctor do his thing, geez.

  • roast beef

    bannanas

    the magusa cascade

    BANG!

rose tyler martha jones donna noble tardis!

    shamble bobble dibble doodl

oh doctor your so handsome yes i am thankyou

    WiN!

  • I would like to have seen how the parents' reactions would be if Jethro had been taken over before The Doctor... would they still throw him out?

  • @derekphu Perhaps. They weren't just getting paranoid - an entity was affecting them to act this way (and bring out their inner thoughts and feelings). They already had resentment (with a teenager it doesn't just go one way lol) towards him, so I think by the end of the episode they'd be right on board. Crazy, I know.

  • Oooo the music at 1:20 onwards is used when Gallifrey falls back into the Time War . . .

  • I like how Jethro likes theDoctor's "BECAUSE I'M CLEVER!" XD

  • "BECAUSE I'M CLEVER! "

  • BECAUSE I'M CLEVER.

  • wow, Sky is amazing!

  • "Because I'm clever!!" LOL!! Even Colin thought it was funny. :)

  • Lol yeah!

  • Skye sure would be helpful fighting the Weeping Angels. hah. :D

  • @chibillama24 Yeah, i know! perfect for blink! and she'd probably scare the shit out of them as well!

  • Comment removed

  • All those questions raised by those other passengers can be easily answered if they aren't panicking like that~

  • "Shamble bubble dibble dooble. Oh doctor your so handsome, yes I am, thank you!"

    FAVORITE part! ^^

  • Lol jethro he said the devils number 666

  • HAHAHA. 'Like your so special.'

'As it happens, YES I AM'.

    EPIC WIN.

  • that is the kind of a creature i'd like to see in the 11th doctor adventures :D

  • This is the scariest 10 minutes of television EVER.

  • I think this may be my favorite episode of Doctor Who ever. And I love how he couldn't resist the "'Oh, Doctor, you're so handsome.' 'Yes, I am, thank you.'" xD I wonder if that was in the script of if David just wanted to say it :) .

Hats off to whoever it is that plays Sky. She had to learn everyone's lines, and she did it brilliantly.

    -IMP ;) :)

  • The woman playing Skye / the monster is really, really good! She's so creepy!

  • the square rought of pie is 1.77245385090551602729867483341 wow

  • @kev12398 I wouldn't of known that let ALONE copy it lol

  • VERYYY well acted! AMAZING show :D Very very well acted and played. must be hard to film this :D

  • My god most of the people on this train are annoying as all hell!!! Especially Jethro's momand the stewardess

  • @BeautifullyAbstract

I think they were all banally "normal" people...like Donna once was?...and then had their minds controlled by the entity. The moment its gone, look what happens to them: it's like everyone, not just the Doctor, can "breathe" again. In or near tears, and feeling as though they've been mind-raped, maybe, but intellectually breathing again, all the same.

  • @VampireYoshi I don't think their minds were being controlled by the entity, it was just stealing their voices. I think their reactions were out of fear and pacnic, and once the thing was gone they realized the magnitude of what they'd been doing

  • @EllietheSwellie No, I am sure it was gaining a sort of control over them as well. Just not as *direct* as with Sky.

  • This must've been so hard to film. :)

  • Classic Doctor Who bleeds through with this:

"Roast beef........Bananas!........BANG!.....rose tyler martha jones donna noble tardis!" LOL

  • At the point where she starts speaking with them the Observers [FRINGE] came to mind.

In addition, mmmmm Colin Morgan <3 He's so awesome in this; super awesome episode.

  • They're so screwing up the first contact. Well, it was going to happen sooner or later that someone would ignore the doctor's obvious competence and grow suspicious of him. Y'know, in times of conflict, the intelectuals are the first to die XD And he DID get on that ship illegaly XD

Quite an Intresting episode so far. Going by the usual prevalence of trouble in this Series, I bet the "thing" actually came "in peace" and they're gonna upset it... Bu nah, i'll just find out by watching the restXD

  • @KendrixTermina I don't think the Thing came in peace... especially the way IT enjoyed watching the passengers at each other's throat. But, as an exercise in claustrophobic thrillers, this episode is top rate.

  • 4:06 I think she's even copying the wife when she sobs...that's another creepy point...

  • rose tyler martha jones dona tardis hahahahhaah sorry but that wz funny

  • This episode freaked me out so much this is the first time I've watched it since it aired. Even though I've watched all the rest of the episodes countless times...

    It's seriously chilling...

  • Agreed. This certainly ranks right at the top of the best RTD contributed to the Doctor Who expectations. In fact, about the only flaws were 21st century clothes/families on the Crusader, and a oddly placed 21st century "Exit" sign hanging in the center of the cabin. IMO, the closest RTD came to classic DW in his 5 years with the series.

  • Is it sad that this is becoming the basis of my essay on the morality, or lack thereof, of killing in a dire situation?

  • omg they r all sooooooo annoyin at the end

its like shut up all of u

    especially the husband & wife

  • Comment removed

  • "Oh Doctor you're so handsome!" "Why yes I am, thank you."

    WIN

  • @TwistedResolve Lol. i loved that bit!

  • @TwistedResolve

    Because, I am clever!!! SUPER!

And Colin Morgan...Very good! =) I love him!

  • 3:30 all his girlfriends XD

They're all so mean to him by the end of this clip :'-(

  • @otherFlawliet Donna is not his girlfreind, Rose is the girlfreind, Martha is the fling and Donna is the best freind lol x

  • @tombrain16 yeah I know, I wanna just kiddin XD

  • "My name's Jethro" Heh I think he means Merlin XD

Anyway, the actress who played Skye did a brilliant job. That must've been a challenging role.

  • Jeez, these guys are acting like a bunch of little kids! Seriously, they're yelling at The Doctor like it's his fault when all he's trying to do is help. Why was it suspicious that he was talking to Skye anyways? It's not like they planned it!

  • i hate the ppl they too wieny omg i could not stand to be with them 4 one second bloody hell

  • Jethro's mother is so annoying!

  • The tennager is quite clever actually. He realizes most of the important things before the other humans do.

  • @Adam19842004

-Professor had some knowledge, but was incredibly ignorant and easy for 'Midnight' to use.

-Assistant had far less knowledge, and was also used by 'Midnight', but she also did try to help and saw through that was going on a lil.

-Mother was horrible. No mental resistance at all.

-Father was just nearly as bad, and worse toward the end.

-Son was used as well, but knew something was up. Didn't speak up though.

-Hostess showed her true colors as a beautiful human being at the end :)

  • I love how when the Doctor says "Because i'm clever", Jethro has a little chuckle.

  • If it weren't so scary, it would be outragiously hilarious. But I can't even laugh out loud because that would wake up the whole floor. Should watch this during the day.

  • The actress who lays Skye is AMAZING.

  • this episode was so difficult to film, cos of all the talking lool :)

  • @lilrandomgizmo lol yeh

  • "Oh Doctor, you're so handsome!"

    "Yes I am, thank you!"

    hahahaha!

David tennant did an execptional job in that episode,, as every other episode

    XD

  • talk about hysteria!

  • Beautifully written episode. This throws into sharp relief how easy it is for us to start panicking when we don't understand something. Scary but awesome!

  • Why doesnt Merlin just use his magic?

  • @ukcameronuk roflmao

  • @ukcameronuk Duh, it hasn't come yet! He's still young here! lol

  • @ukcameronuk um because it is a different show

  • @mbaling Thanks i never knew that

  • @ukcameronuk

Time travel. he doesn't know he is merlin yet.

  • Everyone feels so sorry for the hostess at the end, but really she made the whole problem herself, they weren't even going to touch Skye before she suggested it, then she carried it on to the Doctor, it was all her own fault, by the end killing Midnight along with herself was the LEAST she could do to atone

  • Kill it? The entity wasn't even corperal to begin with, my friend... It was already dead, as freaky as that sounds. :|

  • That's a point, if something isn't alive to begin with, does that mean it's dead?

Like every single person who was never born is dead?

  • Then that leaves freaky theories about Midnight.

Perhaps it was something that was never born, and its living conciounce wanted a body, to feel the blood and pain of emotions?

With Midnight, anything is possible, that's what makes it such a freaky enemy.

  • Or on alternate, Midnight could be a lonely vengueful conciounce of someone who died alone on the planet, seeing it nothing can *live* on the planet.

It said that it had been waiting so long in the cold and dark, which is generally assosiated with death...

  • @Soundfrequency I think it would have happened anyway. An hour of just ignoring her and not saying anything? Ha. They would have at least starting talking, then I'm sure 'Midnight' would have started repeating, and things would go from there.

The hostess was rude, verbally-combative, and uncooperative, but she showed herself to have the most good in her at the end. Just like how Donna came to be one of the most loved of DW, despite the fact that we would think of her as a total b**ch at first.

  • shamble bubble dibble dooble LOL

  • "Oh Doctor, you're so handsome!"

    "Yes I am, thank you!"

    (3.40)

    XD Love it.

  • he just turned up out of the blue

    lol .........tardis...

    Xx

  • This episode shows regular everyday middle class people from a modern western civilization at their worst. This triggers a very visceral reaction in me... excellent portrayal of human weakness when approached by the unknown.

  • man when ppl r scared they cant stop talkin shit it would take an hour to shut them up

  • "Because I'm clever!"

  • Don't Make it a third!

  • look everyone there is o connection between this episode and the end of time of whatever episode. FACT.

  • @DairyFreshSkateTeam I believe so too.

Series 1: Self contained connections mostly (Bad Wolf).

Series 2: Contained and connected with Series 1, and cuts off a lot of plotlines.

Series 3: For most part, didn't connect so much to Series 1 and 2, but started many things for Series 4.

Series 4: Culmination of things from mostly Series 3, but also some from Series 1 and 2.

    cont.

  • @DairyFreshSkateTeam PART 2:

So we can sort of assume that in a 'new season/tv movie', the mysteries is uses/solves have to do with the previous series mostly, the one before that somewhat, and with references to series before those ones.

I expect in Series 6 to deal with whatever 'Midnight' was (and even more 'knocks four times' things, as I don't think we're quite done...), more with River Song, and perhaps dealing with the 'pre-universe' that the episode 'The Satan Pit' had.

  • @SwobyJ

Jesus Christ man, stop writing stuff, you're about to explode

  • @Soundfrequency Haha sorrry! It was late at night and I was both trying to keep myself up by typing, and hoping that typing would lull me to sleep...

I also went on a Doctor Who binge the whole night so I got a *little* obsessed.

  • I notice that the Docotr is wearing the same attire in this episode as it shows in the 'End of Time' trailer. So maybe there is some definite connection.

As for the Midnight knocking, how many times did it knock? Not in the same pattern as the Master but the Waters of Mars extended trailer did show knocking.

I doubt it's the master knocking himself, but maybe a vessel. Something the master implements in order to carry out his plan.

  • Midnight knocked four times in the part 2 upload of this episode.

  • I just hope Midnight is not the Master because that would de-rail how mysterious it is. I don't want the identity or nature of it to be revealed...

It does seem very likely that Midnight will be the one to knock four times. When the Doctor was wanred about the foru knocks, the music that played was 'Midnight' and also played when Midnight began *knocking*.

I hope even if Midnight comes back, they should leave its identity a mystery. 'It' also called itself 'he' and mentioned 'the dark'.

  • Oh yeah like you're so special

As it happens yes I am

    lol

  • I actually luv colin

his character jethro's like THE only smart guy in this except the doctor

  • It only knocked 4 x because the Doctor knocked 4 x. If anything, this is connecting the Doctor with the Master... but in a bizarre way. When it was knocking on its own, it was knocking twice.

  • @ThatKrazygirlie The Doctor only knocked 3 times and was repeated 3 times. I only counted 3 knocks.

  • Seriously? The Doctor only has like what, two suits? Why on Earth would you think that Midnight and End of Time are related because he's wearing the same clothes??

  • I honestly don't like that professor... i just want to punch him... i guess it's cause were so used to having the doctor always showing us all these things that can't be true and yet the professor is like OMG THAT CAN'T HAPPEN even tho its happening right in front of him.. its rather annoying

  • ....So she repeats then she catchs up...What's the next stage, next stage of what! That's not her is it, thats not Mrs Silvestry anymore. I dont think so no(cries), i think the more we talk, the more she learns now im all for education but in this case....Maybe not, now let's ,just move back, c'mon come with me everyone get back all of you, as far as you can. Doctor make her stop...
