  • Easy way to save these kids 8 years of their lives: buy a freakin' calculator.

  • O.o oh my.....thats insane....

  • what's the documentary that this is from?

  • @ddRjM if u got it plz put the link im looking for it too

  • @ddRjM Something on David Tammet (sp?).

  • Slavery

  • That's it, we're doomed.

  • i used to know how to use an abacus, we had to use them back in mexico. I wish i could remember though lol. I think i'll get one and practice eheheh seeing these genius kids really inspires me to at least try and be the best i can be =D

  • daniel son wax on wax offffffffff

  • 1:11

    90.176 x 704425 = ... try it on a calculator and compare!

  • @TheSoundAccount 6352.22288 is the answer

  • @TheMelonStorm he just rounded it, since 28 will make it 30 and then the 8 will make it 40

  • dam he has big eyes

  • I cant use an abacus, but i can write inside the line :)

  • @87sambo87 I love your comment! XD!

  • wtf

  • The thing is... calculating figures doesn't matter at all. You will never see a USAMO problem or even a MathCounts problem that says "find 534243 x 237234705987 in your head". No, that is not what matters. It is a very amazing gift which that child has, and I'm not knocking it, although I am saying that it isn't practical and doesn't get you anywhere.

  • @mexicanmansam but it does help you increase your thinking speed and helps your memory, so it actually DOES help in the long run. Plus you never need a calculator lol :)

  • @shmuck50 well most people who climb to the summit of everest normally do it once. this guy can move on and find something else to achieve.

  • @shmuck50 Not necessarily. a lot of people do marathons because they have a personal goal and a challenge they want to beat. this guy has a dream, a goal, and a challenge but just because what he's doing is different means that he isnt allowed to achieve it? They aren't wasting their time, they're working to be better than they are.

  • @shmuck50 So? people train everyday to run marathons across the sahara but the most you'll ever have to do in real life is run after a bus. and you dont have to do that much physical training to be fit and healthy. Same thing here. People do it because its a CHALLENGE.

  • Shit he just did that whole sheet faster than I could with a calculator!

  • i would just use a calculator...save the trouble...they will probably get arthritis anyway #

  • @shmuck50 No. It's not useless. If you rely on calculators too much, your thinking gets sloppy. Doing this kind of stuff keeps your mind at peak performance instead of becoming some dipshit that relies on calculators everyday.

  • poor kid will never get liad

  • @AIRen817 OH NO, HE'LL NEVER GET LIAD!

  • It's unfair if a child is mathematically challenged and put into one of these schools. What if that child simply cannot do math but is more art-wise? So sad..

  • he's not a genius, he's just a calculator addict! o_O

  • *smile*... "Perhaps I sometimes hit them"... hahahaha

  • it's useless but it's a talent and we must respect it!!!

  • Gosh. I just realised how dumb i really are kekeke~

  • Shit, I was like: okay this is quite skilled but a bit pointless but then he could just do it visually in his head!

  • Useless huh? See, this is the reason why we trail behind China, Japan, and s. Korea academically in every single subject..useless huh? Dumb asses...*shaking head*

  • @financialrep totally agree with you! We should see this as an inspiration and help students become talented!

  • i use excel

  • i don't want to say this but......this shit multiplication is completly nonsense and useless. use their quickess on other way. It must be useful

  • sad...we got calculators

    lmao theyre wasting time

  • @TheJWKK

Calculators are obvious wayy faster than human calculation.

Abacus are way faster than typing on a calculator.

These kids do mental calculations faster than an abacus.

    Enough said.

  • poor kid, they need to practise to sit proper first!

  • earth to Tojo. what else takes you 3 minutes?

  • Woooowwww...

  • google can do it faster

  • what's the full name of the film?

  • "Sometimes I hate them" hahaha 0:45

  • @hockeyrapps3 hit or hate, both are crazy

  • @pierolivier111 i think he meant to say "sometimes, I HIT them."

  • @DaKrazedKyubizt Don't you see that someone already told it

  • @pierolivier111 oh, maybe i wasn't paying attention. i didn't see the other comments. sry.

  • lets see a non asian kid do this. now that would be a feat

  • @ES7upyours some white dude at my school could do this without having to write anything. He would just think a bit a spill the answer lol. Random things like 7.85 divided by 3.9

We would always check with a calculator, and he'd say well the numbe rdoesnt enter the calculator but I can tell you the 8 first numbers LOLL

  • @ES7upyours i'm workin' on it.... it's so hard though...

  • I would like to see them do partial differential equations.

  • @K4inan Lol, partial differential equations are easy. I bet they learn them too, when they're older.

  • This has nothing to do with being a gneius

  • @K4inan You can't even spell "Genius" lol

  • @markeithmm89 It was a typo, who the hell wouldn't see that? Idiot.

  • @K4inan No you just suck balls. GO BACK TO --> School

  • @markeithmm89 Have you ever even been to school?

  • @K4inan Can you do 123456789.76 x 546?? Yeah didn't think so if you were a genius like them you would know how with just using THEIR uber fast fingers even without an abacus. GENIUS

  • @lihnlihn 6.74074072 × 10^10 this took me 15 seconds to calculate. The children in this video ARE not geniuses. ''Use their uber fast fingers'' they calculated with an invisible abacus, which is not counting in your head at all.

  • Comment removed

  • @K4inan(CON) how does uber fast fingers have anything to do with counting in your head?! i said uber fast fingers with the abacus not like counting with your fingers i know they memorize the columns they r well trained to know that they dont use the real abacus its "invisible" 6.74074072 × 10^10 is pretty amazing but because how U.S students learn these abacus kids are geniuses. it's my personal opinion i dont care wether you hate it or not it's what i grow up with.

  • @K4inan It is counting but in some other form... before formula are made, we use traditional counting methods. After that we have formulas, can u say we are not counting?

multiply is basically a method of plus. is doing multiply not counting? same thing here, they dont use number to count, they use imaginary abacus to do it.

  • @lihnlihn

If a person had the same upbringing these children had they would all be able to do what they do. We are all capable of great stuff and all your seeing here is kids reaching their full potentials that have, fortunately, been provided with the correct direction to do so.

The one child that is top of the class you could consider to be a "genius" because he is exceptionally smarter than everyone else in that particular respect.

  • @Art1cM0k3yz yeah.. i did say he was a genius in my comment.. >_>

  • poor kids

  • @bun9box He said they find it enjoyable. xD

  • fuck these kids i would smoke all of them with my TI-83

  • *2 hours on the weekdays and 10 hours on the weekends. Jesus!

  • Comment removed

  • 37 seconds.. Gotta fucking kidding me.. -_-

  • AWESOMENESS!!!

  • sent shivers down my spine 0__0

  • Comment removed

  • fantastic...but they do look like damn zombies...

  • i agree...... practice and the right style of learning method can make you acquire great mathematical skills. one such method is the PC softwares available...check out maths story by maths-school.co.nz

  • well, they are not genius though... they just worked hard on this particular task and developed major calculation skills.

  • AMAZING!

  • Asians will take over the world...

  • Even President Bush has recognized that our youth is far behind that of Asia in the fields of math and science. Besides, why would you feel sad for them, when they aren't sad themselves?

  • its useless its only mechanical calculation .

  • whoa.. amazing..

  • What's the point!!

  • well, this made me hella depressed. Sad to know some kids don't get a chance to be kids.

  • @kyrib What do you define as being a kid? The fact that they're making use of their childhood rather than wasting their time?

  • @daksh96 being a kid = not having the responsibilities that adults have, enjoying their innocence and lack of awareness for all of the horrors in the world, not sitting at a desk crunching numbers in order to provide for a family, you know, all of that. Going outside, playing ball, playing with action figures, playing video games, using their imagination with their friends.....the best way to "make use of your childhood" is to take advantage of all of those things you can't do as an adult. Duh.

  • @kyrib These things that you say are all typical to an American child. Maybe that's why the majority of our children end up working at McDonalds. Truth is, if you wish to have success in life, you must start preparing from the beginning.

Think about it: childhood lasts 10-12 years max. If you waste your life in these years, you'll be suffering as an adult for 70 years+. The numbers show which is better!

I envy the opportunity these kids have to reach their potential.

  • @daksh96 hmm, I'm a typical American child, and I have a masters degree in electrical engineering from one of the best schools in the world at 21. I enjoyed the hell out of my childhood, going to a public school, having fun and getting into trouble whenever I could.

If the "majority of our children end up working at McDonalds", then McDonalds must be employing 40 million people, eh?

  • @daksh96 You still have the opportunity at any age. You must devote the time to practice. You may think that your neural plasticity is lost still, but that is an old way of thinking. Research has shown that we can increase neural plasticity. One of the best ways is to increase your acetylcholine levels. There are a number of ways to do this through supplementation and diet. It has even been shown that blackberries enhance neural plasticity.

  • @guitarobsessed85 Research has also shown that kids who've been around this type of environment are likelier to have higher IQs. But you're right it's all about practice.

  • @daksh96 I agree.. Kids have to start from a young age.. Look at those kids, they're so disciplined practicing and all. They learn like that from a young age, they continue with that for as long as they live. And, who said they dont get their fun? kyrib judged too fast.. he's not the kid himself, like he'd know anything they rly do

  • @Jackieeee93 Exactly. I don't understand why people don't get that....Do you see the kid in the video???? He has other aspirations than what kyrib considers "fun"; he wants to be the national champ at something, which would be quite a feat.

  • Comment removed

  • This really has nothing to do with spatial reasoning and therefore can't be considered genius. It's really mindless, brainwashed children who have there response times hyped up.

  • @matthewrocks711 In retrospect, I will be teaching my future child how to use an abacus, thanks to this video.

  • what the fu!!!!!

  • They take way to long to make calculations they add everything they are not using basic information of times tables they need to use my 0's method 1 zero =x10

    2 zeros=x100 3 zeros=x1,000 4 zeros=x10,000 5 zeros=x1,000,000 and add the rest allot faster than using a ancient calculator

  • he cant write on the lines though...?

  • nah, I could do this, just takes practice and it is just calculating basic numbers.

its like saying whats 10x15? 150. Ask that to a grade 2 and he won't know. Complex math equations are the real deal, variables, ratios, physics.

  • @RedSarcov "10x15=150 and a grade 2 would not know."

i knew the answer in pre-school. though i know that is rare, for me numbers and history were my childhood obsessions. but by high school i could do 4 digits by 4 with no problems either.

  • goto 1:33; i put in 34,255 times 2,534,361 in calculator,... and guess what, that kid's answer was right, and he took less time to solve it he doesn't need to take time to put things in calculator!! answers 86,814,536,055

  • omg i used to do this when i was young hahaha but then stopped coz i got annoyed by the abacus (could do them in my head)

  • Holy shit man!!!!!!!

  • Wow, that's incredible!!! That's amazing and mind-boggling that anyone could do an abbucus with just imagination, and get amazing results!!!

  • But they don't really think math, right? What's the use of doing that many calculations?

  • Just because you're not used to something, you deemed it as something abnormal.

The 'normal' we humans have in our mind is just a joint perception agreed amongst us. Why does it have to come down to our race/nationality/age and things like that whenever one can't decipher the reason why it's so amazing?

  • Yes we prolly won't be using the abacus in future but why not think of it as a skill, endurance and determination to want to learn more so that you brain won't just die off relying on 'technology'. That massive determination will help wherever you are.

  • HEY I HAVE THAT TIMER

  • with calculators, you take away the human ability to use the mind to solve the problem. the sharper your mind the stronger you are in life. just because we build things to do our every day needs. we can sharpen our minds to do every day needs for life.

  • this isnt genius at all, this is straight up number crunching, they are human calculators nothing else

  • I wonder why American education is trailing so bad behind? I know! Cause our school system sucks. We pass everyone regardless!!! Asian countries, you have to pass middle, highschool, and college entrance exams in order to attend the school your choice!! An in order to do that, you need to study your ass off since competition is high and limited spaces!!!! I hope America changes its teaching curriculum. American kids can't do simple math and basic geography is a horrid. No pain = no gain!

  • Comment removed

  • lol... it probably would take me longer to punch those numbers into the calculator

  • like they're ever gonna use that in the future

  • @bobsonenzo That's not the point of it... per se... it's more about being able to do this without the Soroban itself after reaching a certain skill level. For instance, that kid in the video could probably figure and solve (visually) 98431 x 57802 in less time it takes you to find a calculator, or write it down. This would be very useful in the software industry, albeit programmers and the like by cutting development time despite, maybe by chance, having no technological aid at the time.

  • @Xilosphere a programmer without a technological aid at a time?

  • @bobsonenzo That was a flaw in my statement... I guess it would take a lazy westerner to actually argue the use of an electronic calculator over ones own mental capabilities. Do you prefer a technologically dependent society for such things as mere calculations? Besides, this method allows for concentration expansion. Although you wouldn't "need" this skill it's not as worthless as English class for the literate...

  • @Xilosphere whats wrong with people using calculators to do easy math?

  • @bobsonenzo nothing... it just makes you less competent in the unlikely case you don't have one. If this mechanically lazy mentality were to continue, humanity would eventually depend entirely on technology for everyday things without real knowledge of how things work... Beware EMP bombs! :p

  • @Xilosphere I can't have real knowledge about how eg. my cellphone works before using it though. Same with my pc and car.

  • I'm an Asian and I'm HORRIBLE at Math.

  • it doesnt count they're asian......hahahaha just kidding

  • i'm gonna just come right out and say it this is creeeeeepy

  • demons

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • What kind of thign is that theyre using? Please any1 tell me. Thx

  • It's called abacus!

  • Damn he can do all that while i have a hard time figuring out 7x8...lol

  • @supermario64777 56 ;)

  • @supermario64777 7x8.. =36?

  • @supermario64777 lol dude i hear yeah

  • type in youtube six year old wonder kid in math, 3 y/o from indonesia can do calculus, integral etc...her name is deborah..asians rule...

  • I must say I did not see any calculus or integrals. I must have had the wrong video but her name was also deborah.

  • holy shit.

  • For hien1105: he wrote 414,018 not 418,018

  • asians.

  • Pause at 1:35...he did 430,382 x 0,961978 = 418,018 xD I used calculator and it was 414,018...fail but still amazing boy

  • hien1105: Have you ever wrote something while you're in a hurry? Well, he did wrote 414, 018. Here's why you thought it was a 418, 018. You did noticed that they're doing decimals right? If you look closely of what he just wrote, you'll see that the tiny thingy between the 4 and 0 is a decimal. You should have looked closely : )

  • for me i can do it just as fast as them. only difference is i don't use an abacus. i use the bringing the number over trick or i can calculate it in my head if i have to.

  • you can do 6 digits by 6 digits in your head in a few seconds?

  • make then a video about it if you can do it also wiseguy

  • it'd be hard to prove it on a youtube video. i could be looking at the answers, but if you or anyone else is willing to come over here, be my guess.

  • it is the documentary called the boy with the genius mind or something like that. check out daniel tammet on wikipedia, it is about a british autistic person that can calculate high math in his head and can learn a language in a week.

  • It is actually from a television program about Daniel Tammet. You should still be able to find it on youtube.

  • HOLY CRAP THEY LOOK SPECIAL.

  • cool stuff. japanese people FTW!

  • what makes you think you can't be smart and have a life '-.-? you dumb kids are jeolous..

  • Possibly from a National Geographic Documentary.

  • Wait wait wait, this is wrong, very wrong.

According to the unofficial Youtube code of conduct, this sequence of comments was supposed to turn into a flame war with liberal use of the expressions "fag", "retard" and "illiterate inbreed" starting from the second reply and onwards.

Please stop this civilised behaviour immediatly.

  • I would answer you if I could understand what you are trying to say.

  • haha ^^

  • I'd rather have a calculator AND my childhood thank you very much.

  • lol

  • "b" students run the world bitches, sorry math genius chinese kids, you prob have no social skills

  • Brah, I get A's and B's... what's that make me?!!?1

  • whatever you want to be, i dont give a shit

  • They're Japanese, actually.

  • Another asshole on the face of this planet. Bet you're thinking 'So What?I dun giv a shit'. Amen.

  • what the fuck are you talking about kid?? Are you saying amen to me or to fmlyguy1993

  • that is god bless america cause everyone else is way ahead of us

  • paul greenfields one black man "obama"has nothing to do with uneducated americans. if you listen to the video the master said he hits them when they are wrong try that see what results we get in america. we get ignorant PTA complaints and cottled children to the point of lazy weak and spoiled nature. we, in america ,?every person for themselves. oh i forgot then we complain or are suprised when we see amazing feats of superior intellectual training. anyway godbless cause america no one else will

  • I love the guys who think this is useless. For your shitty Walmart jobs yeah this wouldn't be useful (that's exactly the attitude that got you your shitty jobs, enjoy it.... This is godly for traders. You'd literally be the best trader on the floor. This is seriously a traders dream...... the money is gonna just roll in.

  • This is amazing, considering most Americans take an hour to answer the product of 16 times 27, and such.

  • WTF...these guys are counting insane numbers at 12.

Here i am at 18, and sometimes still messes up counting my change -.-

  • Here in America we teach kids to sing:

    "Mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama."

  • that is intense

  • i Feel stupid now

  • You aren't alone... O.o

  • >.> woah, that's even faster then me using a Calculator !!!

  • fuk..its amazinnn

  • I'm so sick of these numerical bullshit fast calculation geniuses. Numbers numbers numbers that's mainly what people with high iqs can do. It is boring as fuck and they steal all our $
