  • This Aussie kid...is the next big thing in Greco!!....Wait and see.....

  • @chullah Hes mostly taken his training to russia, makes sense really there are people here, good people to train with but not enough in heavyweight. Hes getting more serious as he gets older.

I reckon that boy will be our first olympic wrestling medal in near 60 years I beleive.

  • at what weight? Maybe back down at 96kg. At heavyweight he is too small. With the enforced par terre requirements only full size heavies are competitive now. You look at other undersize guys with huge power and great technique , Vala and Szcepeniak etc but they always hover outside the medals as too light when defending par terre.

  • @kthanid83 is byers in the above vid not fullsized? I cant say your wrong mate but hear me out, he is a specimen he is 114kg, 6'4 ,lean & is young so he will continue to fill out he also has skills beyond his years & he has the resources of the AIS (world leader in the devlopment of athletes in general thanks to huge goverment spending) & better comptition to hone his skills in in russia.

Thats a really big weight cut, he probably can do it but i fear it may drain him too much?

  • Good reply. If he can get to 120 he might be okay. But he needs to get a lot stronger on the ground. The best training in the world only takes you so far with Par terre. You can either turn the big guys or you can't.With compulsory requirement and such short rounds no small/builtup heavies have managed to tire or budge the 120kg giants so far for a medal. Nothing against Popov,I'm a small heavy myself and really root for the lighter lean guys. Be nice to someone change the face of the game.

  • @kthanid83 But still even then itll be tough theres plenty who cut weight to make 120.

Proportionatly I AM the problem your saying I compete at 74kg bodys happy to be a still fit 90kg in the off season. Fitness, speed, technique, reversals & the ability to stall is how the smaller guys keep me honest & likewise out muscling, lifting, slamming & takedowns are how i keep them honest.

Speaking of the games hows your national squad shaping up for 2012? AUS's team had a ok commonwealth games.

  • @wondeboy12 He's 6'7" actually.

  • @bigd13b No shit? ive seen him in person & while gigantic I didnt think he was that tall, that taller then your average bball player here.
