  • you nailed the notes dead on but you left out what AJ brings to the table FEELING!!!

  • @adhbass Nice playing. I think when we heard AJ's playing we all kind of went "wow". First time I heard so many really low notes being played and it was great. I heard too that AJ was allowed to take songs and work on the bass parts for a very long time until he felt they were perfect.

Since you seem to have a connection with Ibanez adh, please let them know that I'm really disappointed that they're not making the ATK305 anymore. It was a great sounding 5 string at a great price!

  • I forgot how super bad the bass on this cut actually was. Good job!!!

  • this reminds me of the jacksons keep on dancing

  • One of my favorite songs, and you nailed that bass line spot on! Nice!

  • More importantly, you got the SOUND and FEEL right. Great job, bro!

  • Excellent job :)

Did you know AJ tuned down his P bass to C/F/Bb/Eb on this album?

there wasn't any other way to get those very low notes at that time (Pino Palladino did that a lot on all his nusoul recordings)

    Peace out

  • @Fjord76 I know, that blows me away!

  • @adhbass i've been heavily into Naughty (again) these days and it's AJ at his best. When i listen to the tracks featuring Willie Weeks or Marcus Miller (which i deeply dig though) it's not the same: he's untouchable on this record, a kinda modern Jamerson with the dopest sound ever. I've read that world class producer Arif Mardin & Chaka gave him all the time he wanted to craft his lines on this album (they knew he could do more than regular bass comping)

  • @Fjord76 Naughty was recorded in '79>'80 and released in 1980. "Though Jackson came up with the idea some years previously and, in 1974, first approached various luthiers about the construction of his idea, he began playing the six-string bass exclusively in 1981. Carl Thompson built the first six-string for Jackson in 1975 (an instrument currently owned by Les Claypool of Primus), but he later switched to basses built by Vinnie Fodera and Joey Lauricella."

  • you know good music! nice job with a difficult piece

  • Killin!

  • Adhbass: I am a vocalist with a keen ear--believe me when I say: You brought it. . . . good job!

  • You did Anthony Jackson proud. Very Nice. I would love to here what you would do on your own.

  • nice

  • nice

  • very intricate basslines..thats why i love funk music so much!!

  • WOW! You took me back!

  • Keep up the good work. Great job. Chaka would be proud.

  • Love that - very well done.

And that Ibañez seems a very valuable bass, isn't it ? Awesome alternative to a Stingray.

    Cheers

  • Sorry about the typo.

    I meant AWESOME PLAYING !!!

  • AWESOME PALYING !!!

    Are you site reading ???

If you are reading , GREAT JOB on the reading skills also !!

Should look into some possible session work.

  • Hahaaaa... I wish I was sight reading. I spent a few days shedding this one. Unfotunately sight reading is not my forte, but I'm working on it. Thanks for the comment.

    peace.... Alex

  • the song and the bass playing is very sexy

  • Pretty terrific playing, and awesome tone. I'm planning on getting an NT ATK305 next week, I played it back to back with a Stingray and the ATK was as good or better in every way, especially since it was $1200 cheaper.

  • The more I play it ... the more I love it. I just got a beautiful 4 string with a KOA top.

  • is that one of the atks with the neck pick up? I wonder how much off a difference that neck pup would make? I love my atks too. great playing.

  • Man, really great playing. You cop that AJ vibe perfectly. I know that it's all about that little nuances, like length of notes and stuff, and you nail it. That bass sounds great as well, very round and balanced.

It seems like you play with a very light touch, true?

I like all of your vids, keep them coming!

  • THANK YOU... THANK YOU....I'm glad you enjoyed them.

  • Any one who can play my favorite singer of all times' music from what i consider to be one of her top 3 greatest solo albums of all time, identical to the way the original recording is, without skipping a beat & making it look so effortless is always a friend of mine! Fantastic job!! would you possibly do "All Night's Alright" from the same album please? Keep on doing more Chaka tunes cause you know she is the "Queen" of all that is funk-Jazz-Fusion.

  • to hear bass playing is sooo...sexy!!!

  • very fantastic. i´m touched! a beautiful song, and beatuful bass-play. lovely!

  • adh, an inspiration to any aspiring bass players, watch and learn!

  • Thanks for the kind words..... I know that I will be an aspiring bassist for the rest of my life !

    Peace..... Alex

  • hey,man,a friendy advice from a woman:)

    You could smile sometimes:)

    why don't you try?:)

  • When I play Live i'm usually dancing, smiling , singing ect...

but here I was reading music, so my eyes were stuck on the paper, as you can see!

  • Ahaaaaa:)

    I see:)

Well...next time you learn it and..smile more!!!:)

  • Imagine how nice a 6 string atk bass with an ashbody and walnut top would look:D

  • I'm down with that....

  • Good job of playing - lots of good stuff there. You're getting pretty close to the MAN. AJ's attention to detail and finesse are incredible - I don't think anyone can really nail all the mastery that Anthony Jackson does. Really good job of trying, though!

But now, your bass doesn't even come close to AJ's "Career Girl"!

  • The B string sounds great!!

I have a japanese made ATK.

Got it in 1999.. ATK rules!!

  • More nice work ADH! Nice Jamerson groove on this one. AJ tears it up with Michael Camilo on Rendevous (with Weckl on drums) That cd is outrageous! Keep the funk!

  • Please go out to your local record store,..or look on line and find every record anthony jackson has played bass on. Michael Camilo,..probly the greatest latin jazz piano player in the world,..has been quoted as saying,..the reason he has anthony jackson play on so many of his albums is because " Anthony Jackson can play things on his bass no man can do". So please! find his albums,..also keep up the good work you are doing,..you will go far. Mel Minfield

  • Yeah I have a few of Michel's cd's.... not really my favorite latin jazz pianist. I've got a few record with AJ on bass in a lot of different styles. In my opinion, he's probably the greatest bass player out there. I really dig Pino Palladino as well.... and a ton of other guys

  • well done! nice feel

  • ha nice job. great groove. i too am a proud owner of an Ibanez ATK
