when I search up metal gear solid 1 for ps1 on ebay, or google images, I alwasys see 2 difference versions of the cover art, well one is just a white cover with the game's logo, and another one is grayish with snakes face on it. (I know the manual for both these covers have the grayish with snakes face on it.) I just wanted to know which cover came out first, the white logo one, or the gray snake face one? also why are there 2 versions of the ps1 metal gear solid cover in america? (

Favorite game of all time (Y) I loved the cutscenes for this game better than any other in the series, they don't get boring or dragged on for too long like they do in other MGS games .. & I like how hazy they look when the characters move, and the echoes on their voices when they talk or make noise, really brings out the atmosphere of Shadow Moses.

One of my favorite games of all time. I played the shit out of this when I was a kid. I remember when these were kick ass graphics lol. They need to remake this game for the ps3 and 360 with the hd collection. In my opinion MGS1 was one of the best Metal Gear games. 2 was the worst, fuck Raiden. In MGS4 you go back to shadow moses, so they have the map and land layout of the first game, why not remake it with MGS4's engine and controls? I'd buy it.

In my opinion this was the best game in the series. MGS2 was okay but it could have been much better, MGS3 was great, MGS4 I expected a BIT more, I didn't really like the bosses all that much, they were too easy, but MGS4 was great too. So yeah, I liked this game the most, the story was just phenomenal. I miss this game so much.

Oh god. I remember back when i swaped this game with a friend. I gave him Final Fantasy 7 for Metal Gear Solid. And oh Boy. It was a great deal :D. No question. FF7 is a great game. But there wasn't any game which gave me so many beautiful hours. I can still remember every single scene of this masterpiece cuz i have been playing it from beginning to the end for maybe 20 times.

I love every game in the Metal Gear Solid franchise and while 4 may be the best overall game of the series, this game will always be my personal favorite. I can play it on the ol playstation and to this day, it still has the same effect on me that it did when I played it fo the first time in the 90's. I prefer this game to the remake. Theres some something about the grittiness of the graphics and music and overall feel of the game that just can't be replicated.

I loved this game as a kid and I still do.

I've always held it as the greatest video game on the playstation.

Many other games have tried to emulate a big budget movies with their focus on realistic graphics and looks.

But this game was far more successful in that goal because it focused on characters and story instead of the looks.

Sadly, as much as I love this series I cannot say the same for the games that came after this one.

They simply didn't have the same depth or impact for me.

@maarc3D No, Peace Walker is about Big Boss before the first Metal Gear game and takes place way before the Metal Gear Solid series. You might be thinking of Rising which takes place between MGS2 and MGS4 and will show how Raiden became a cyborg but that game isn't out yet.

@TheDarius I played the demo when it was out, but the first time I played the full game was in 2011. Nothing to be ashamed about. If I played it earlier, I would've hated it. I had to develop my tastes and mind before wantng to play this. Glad I did though. The MGS series is very good and unlike what I expected. I thought it would be too realistic, but when I learned more about it, it was very unrealistic, which made it more appealing to me. And the story is the best I've ever seen.

Syphon filter isn't really similiar to Metal Gear.

In Syphon Filter you are going for action most of the time, while you try to stay hidden as much as possible in Metal Gear. Makes a huge difference in gameplay, if oyu ask me, but still: both are good games, Metal Gear is much better though ;)

MGS1 is still the best and this game never gets old either. I do have one question though and I'm just curious too. Near the end of the game after Snake destroyed Metal Gear REX and before he battled Liquid in a fist fight on top of REX, what exactly happened to all of Snake's gear such as his items and weapons? I'm just wondering and I'm only curious since that was something I've noticed a lot. Right before Snake battles Liquid at the end, I always notice that Snake's gear is missing.

@ForgottenMemoriesSou lol what a conquincidence, a few weeks ago l started a metal gear solid marathon, starting with MGS1 to 3, My housemate was like "theirs no way you're gonna finish MGS1 in one sitting".

I did it and it took me 7 hours and 30 minutes to do it, by the time l beat it was 5 am with the sun was rising, to celebrate we drank coffee and spent the morning joking about Snake and Liquids jeans lol. God l love this game, its my personal favorite form the series.

This game is still the best and it'll always remain as such a timeless classic forever for all time too. It's such a great PS1 game to enjoy for many years to come. I still have MGS1 for PS1 and it never gets old. I also have MGS: The Twin Snakes for Nintendo GameCube which is just as good as MGS1 and it's also another awesome game to play too since it's a combination of both MGS1 and MGS2. I still love to play both MGS1 and MGS: The Twin Snakes and both games are still my most favorites ever.
