lila started off good in the season.. i liked her but than she became a bitch.. dexter took good care of her because doakes was hectic and now hes gone!
I don't understand how people can like Lila? She was NOT good for Dexter. With Lila, more innocent people would die, and Dexter had no control. He would never have stopped killing people if she stayed. With Rita, however, he finally managed be happy and feel useful and good at the end. Then she sadly died. Dexter even said right before Trinity killed her that he thought he could stop killing soon. THAT's true love- someone who makes him a better person.
I'm surprised how many people are completely lost on the Lila character. She wasn't "the best thing that ever happened to him". She wasn't his "soul mate", nor did she understand him. She wasn't going to make him normal. She didn't kill Doakes to protect Dexter, she did it to control him. Just like when she set her own apartment on fire to get his attention when he ignored her call. She was a psychotic manipulative bitch who would have used her knowledge of him as the Butcher to control him.
But killing his brother isn't such a huge flaw compared to killing Lila.
She was the one who could finally make Dexter normal, and I loved the change she created, they could have made Dexter dump Rita and he would be just fine.
Of course there was a need for a stupid, irrational twist just to keep the stupid public in front of the TV's for the next 4 seasons. I quit here. GFY pop scen writers!

When I saw Doakes's picture on the card, for a very brief moment I thought he was gonna pop up out of the corner and punch Lila to death while saying "Surprise, motherfucka".
I figured in the scene of her leaving for paris that Lila would become a major villain in a future season of Dexter, and I thought the idea was intriguing. Then this happened and it felt like a wasted opportunity, especially since this scene wasnt all that great anyway.
Stupid, Dexter intended to send Doakes to jail where he would have been executed, he would've done the same thing as her. He planned on killing her before she tried to kill the kids. That episode ruined Dexter for me, she didn't deserve to die any more than he did.
@AkumosBDF Finally, somebody with some sense. I've also mentioned the same thing you have in the past. There are people who don't like Lila because she killed Doakes, but they fail to realize that Dexter's frame job would have likely led to the death penalty for Doakes. So, he would have died in either case. And just as you alluded to, Lila only went after the kids after Dexter tried to kill her. Granted, that wasn't the greatest move on her part, but Dexter wasn't completely innocent either.
@cactusjacksmack I don't really get Dexter's attraction to Rita at all personally. He has to constantly lie to her while Lila would have accepted him if he didn't constantly try to push her away. I'd say the way Dexter acted probably led her to do some of the crazy shit she did. He said she didn't feel anything, but maybe she felt some attachment to him since he was similar to her, and it drove her nuts to lose that. Either way I just never saw the appeal of Rita over Lila from his perspective.
@AkumosBDF Well in later episodes Dexter starts to really feel his connection to Rita. She was his safety, sense of normalcy, what made him feel "human". You don't feel those feelings with just ANYONE. Personally, I think Rita would have tried to understand if given the chance. Just makes things difficult with having children. Lila was only feeding his habit. She was like fuel to the fire, ya know? All she woulda done is get his ass into more trouble than she's worth.
I am not bad person, but he should have cut her into pieces while she was alive and then burn her :P I so hate her for making Dexter so messed up and made him dumb Rita. She deserved that death.

And the fact that he actually was able to track her down in Paris, and flew there on his own time alone to get her, I thought was really lame, and not in Dexters character at all... I was hoping she would come back another season, or maybe once Dexter had learned more about himself, he would settle for her.., but damn she was so HOT to.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the biggest mistake the TV series ever made was killing off Lila. She was by far the most interesting character ever on "Dexter."

@rkoman2 That's true, she did well in making me despise the character so kudos to the actress. However, I do not find her attractive in the slightest. Sure her body was nice (aside from her translucent white skin), but her face is not pretty to me at all.

@ShatteredOne2007 What the hell? She actually gave some action for Dexie's miserable private life. Paul was already gone so they had to figure out something. And I think there was nothing wrong about Lila. Dexter is an unbelievable idiot for hooking up with a single mom with a narcotic boyfriend. I think that killing Lila is his all-time biggest mistake. And Doakes' reputation was already gone because of Dex, so no blaming for Lila about that.

@cactusjacksmack Oh god no. You are just plain wrong. Lila was clinically insane. Her story arc reached a nice crescendo at the end of season two but keeping her on beyond that would just not make sense. Besides... she fuckin kidnapped Rita's kids and tried to set them on fire... not to mention the fact that she knew he was the Butcher. Dexter had to take care of her. Also she was a huge bitch... I wanted him to kill her from the beginning.

From the moment I saw Lila I thought she was one of the best characters ive seen in a show. I was REALLY pissed when Dexter decided to kill her... And the fact that he actually was able to track her down in Paris, and flew there on his own time alone to get her, I thought was really lame, and not in Dexters character at all... I was hoping she would come back another season, or maybe once Dexter had learned more about himself, he would settle for her.., but damn she was so HOT to.
