I guess this has some application for other branches of engineering not mechanical eng, I was looking for CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FROM THE MECHANICAL DESIGN POINT OF VIEW
i've been in a classes where the professor would just read what is on the slide but never explain the details and never provide examples but this professor is just truly FANTASTIC, hats off and thank you Dr.S.Srinath.
Such a precise, clear explanation that makes complex concepts seem so simple!. I was struggling to understand a few topics on schema design and had almost given up hope but now I have learned a lot from this video. I cant express how grateful I am . Please keep up the great work. You are helping thousands of people learn. Huge fan of NPTELHRD.
This instruction clearly helped me to create a work flow for the databases I am building. I use to sit and ponder the direction I should take; and, this spent a lot of time. Now, I see how I should be pulling the database information into groups and relating these groups according to how they will be interacted with. I now know how to title these different groups of information and draw them in diagram as they relate to each other. Great instruction has been so helpful. Thank you very much.
@all brainless who comment on Dr.srinath language.
Dr.srinath is MS from IIT Madras. He did PHD from BSRT germany.
His published papers from 2002 which probably means he completed his PHD in 2002.
from his examples of student entity roll number(2003CSExyz) and 256 MB pen drive cost of 3000 implies he taught this course in 2003. Before 2002 period almost all the programs in germany were in german lang. most probably he must have taught this course just after returning from germany.
I have found the slides (lecture notes) that the professor uses for this lecture at superpacker.blogspot.com/2010/ 10/conceptual-design-using-er- model_24.html .
Thank you Dr. S. Srinath for a very useful lecture!
Lovely! I really appreciate your knowledge and principle of sharing. I would like to thank you for the lecture and request you for Business warehousing and Business intelligence lectures if possible.
he is talking at a crazy speed.he's ok with the concepts but please slow down sir.

excellent , I love the way Dr. Srinath explains concepts, so simple and no unnecessary examples but all the necessary examples when required.
