As a Dan Mainer, I can tell you this. i would rather fight against a Sagat than a Ryu. Why? While Sagat is powerful, he is slow, and at least his ultra is pretty hard to connect with.
Ryu however, is powerful, but is quick, recovers from hadoukens quickly, and can juggle his ultra in a million different ways.
But hey, I'm just a Dan player, I probably don't know what I'm talking about :(

Sagats ultra doesnt get scaled as much either a jump in feirce, tiger uppercut FADC into roundhouse and ultra does 600+ damage. His walking speed is irrelevant as a good sagat player would simply zone you with tiger shots and if he needs to get close kara cancelling into his moves help with that. Although some of his pokes are avrge his standing lk is quick and can combo easily into his moves

Fireball traps are one of the classic elements of Street Fighter, its part of what sets it apart from its competitors. If you don't like like it that's fine, you don't have to whine about it.
Btw they weren't really useful in SF3:Third Strike because its so easy to parry fireballs in that game. They put them back in for 4 because they wanted to go back to that old SF2 style.

At higher level of SF4 play, winning fireball wars consistently is a mark of skill, due to the presence of Focus Attack. If you have a fireball and your opponent doesn't, you have an advantage as they are forced to Focus Attack or jump, but if you both have fireballs, it becomes a mindgame; are you safe with another fireball, or will your opponent Focus Attack Dash? Guessing wrong puts a lot of pressure on you...
Mago can read the match well, which is why he can fireball so much in comparison to other Sagats. It's also why he looks scrubby; because the psychology doesn't transfer very well into spectating. All people see are fireballs being consecutively thrown.
If that's towards me. I'm not a noob, and I do understand lmao. I know its about timing, anticipating, knowing when and where to strike at all times. Knowing when to block, etc.

To be frank, almost all the character has a chance to win and is quite balance. For instance, even though Sagat has high dmg and health but his speed is way slow than Ryu, whereas Ryu is opposite. Is just a matter on how you put the situation at your advantage to gain the upper hand, all characters have their upper hands. E.g. when justin wong RF play Daigo Ryu, it seems one-side but when RF used by Kindevu is a major difference and he even won a few times against Daigo. Is all abt player skill
Sagat isn't imbalanced. Hell, a lot of the high level players say he receives too much hype...most of the people saying he is imbalanced are just scrub players. He could use tweaks, but as is, he's not like how bad Chun was in 3S.
It's safe to say he's one of the worlds best. And to say that he is the best Sagat in the world is not a dumb claim considering how high the level of play is in Japan.

I think it's called "scaling". The game kinda evens out the energy bar on attacks to make them more close to even. I've kinda witnessed it on XBOX live it seems that certain moves or combos do more damage during different situations..like time and your opponites energy level. I have a hard time explaing it better
Uh, no. There's nothing to do with time or energy level. The only time a combo can do more damage and stun is on counter hit. Less damage the more button inputs in the combo.
my bad ..I didn't figure that out still EVO 2009. As you can I see I wrote that before EVO. Now I know it's best to restart a combo if you can. Ed Ma did something like that with Akuma... the dude had stars and Ed Ma hit him with a focus attack in the corner and then he jumped real fast and kicked him to restart the combo.

At higher level of SF4 play, winning fireball wars consistently is a mark of skill, due to the presence of Focus Attack. If you have a fireball and your opponent doesn't, you have an advantage as they are forced to Focus Attack or jump, but if you both have fireballs, it becomes a mindgame; are you safe with another fireball, or will your opponent Focus Attack Dash? Guessing wrong puts a lot of pressure on you...

Mago can read the match well, which is why he can fireball so much in comparison to other Sagats. It's also why he looks scrubby; because the psychology doesn't transfer very well into spectating. All people see are fireballs being consecutively thrown.

To be frank, almost all the character has a chance to win and is quite balance. For instance, even though Sagat has high dmg and health but his speed is way slow than Ryu, whereas Ryu is opposite. Is just a matter on how you put the situation at your advantage to gain the upper hand, all characters have their upper hands. E.g. when justin wong RF play Daigo Ryu, it seems one-side but when RF used by Kindevu is a major difference and he even won a few times against Daigo. Is all abt player skill

Sagat isn't imbalanced. Hell, a lot of the high level players say he receives too much hype...most of the people saying he is imbalanced are just scrub players. He could use tweaks, but as is, he's not like how bad Chun was in 3S.

It's safe to say he's one of the worlds best. And to say that he is the best Sagat in the world is not a dumb claim considering how high the level of play is in Japan.

yes sagat is overpowered but so is ryu.
ryu has 6 billion easy combos into his ultra. Ryu is a sick puppy too, its not like sagat is miles better than him.

You're an idiot. People can give a long list on why characters are good. What separates Sagat is his high damage output and his high vitality/stun. Also when you get close to the best zoning in the game, he has tiger knee locks for closer combat.

I think it's called "scaling". The game kinda evens out the energy bar on attacks to make them more close to even. I've kinda witnessed it on XBOX live it seems that certain moves or combos do more damage during different situations..like time and your opponites energy level. I have a hard time explaing it better

Uh, no. There's nothing to do with time or energy level. The only time a combo can do more damage and stun is on counter hit. Less damage the more button inputs in the combo.

my bad ..I didn't figure that out still EVO 2009. As you can I see I wrote that before EVO. Now I know it's best to restart a combo if you can. Ed Ma did something like that with Akuma... the dude had stars and Ed Ma hit him with a focus attack in the corner and then he jumped real fast and kicked him to restart the combo.
