I got a friend who mailed me this link. He watched hundreds of DP videos and he gets totally pissed every time someone says that Gillan fucking can't sing. And he's sure this is the best version of the song. Better believe him or critics will be doomed.
Ridiculous of you to even bother watching if you don't think it is then. This lineup is more classic than the 'Come Taste The Band' era, and way more solid than the JLT days in 1990-91...Purple Rainbow.
Apart from the solo, Steve is playing this OK here, but generally he is quite shit on this song. But I like the way Gillan has adjusted the verses slightly.
Interesting, and gratifying, that they're doing this one, being as it is one of Blackmore's last. The album was brilliant and went some way to making up for the years of sub-standard output that went before.
Not the best song in their catalog, but Ian's vocals are damn good here.

He's lowered the key of the first part of the verses. Very effective.

I wonder if they'll ever do: Anya or A Twist in the Tale from TBRO album.
Those songs for me where the highlight :D, on that album.

Yes indeed, and 'Anya'. Some people claim Steve can't pull that one off, but the Bombay 1995 version proves he can.

He's deliberately restructured the verses. It's not a case of him failing to hit the notes.

This song was an absolute highlight from the '93 tour with the MKII line up, and the current line up is in fact doing it justice:-)
