I did heroin with the drummer but his dad came home from teaching and beat his son, the drummer, and then the drummer's mom came in and the drummer's dad beat her too. I was so strung out, I couldn't let out a single sound or move to stop him, all I could do was let the unfathomable sadness wash over me and shed a single tear for being a part of an experience so horrible.. so apt from love... it still haunts me to this day....
Their drummer's uncle's sister's cousin-in-law's brother's stepson's lawyer's driver's personal chef's unicorn's DVD is my worm who is currently residing in an apple I keep by my bed.
the drummers dad uncle law sisters mom cousin twice removed stepson's grandfather's great great great great nephew's mother in laws dad's son was my guitar tutor
Well, they came after all the aforementioned bands, so I'm willing to bet they were influenced by them or something. Maybe. Just a guess. Who knows. I could be totally wrong.
You know how people say they just wasted two minutes of their lives or whatever on youtube? Well, I do not think I could have spent the past 6 minutes and 14 any better than I did closing my eyes and listening to this work of pure genius.
This saturday at Coney Island Free concert Village Voice's Siren Festival. This band will be playing. So if you live in the city or just visiting....GOOO!!!
Someone i know who went to glastonbury the other day saw there guys. appareently there was only about 5 people watching them, which is sad, cos this is really good.
@93cantthinkofaname yeah that's true. i was there, 2nd row. such a great band. lots of people in the tent, but all were sat down. only like 15 people stood up actively watching :(
I watched them at Glastonbury... that bit about only 5 people being there isn't true, they had a decent enough turnout for that time on the John Peel stage...
I watched them at Glastonbury... that bit about only 5 people being there isn't true, they had a decent enough turnout for that time on the John Peel stage...
I agree with the angry built to spill statement, and I think they sound like modest mouse because they have the same similarities to built to spill that modest mouse does. So really they sound like built to spill and because of that they sound like modest mouse.
The song structures through the album are much more complex as is the music than the pixies, i can see the modest mouse influence and also a pavement influence however they are by no means ripping off any of the above bands, this song and album are brilliant, Anyone else that likes them need to look up "piskie sits" aswell they are a UK band and are brilliant, Not on youtube though for some reason
Well folks, ok, the vocals are similar to the Pixies (they have a slight Frank Black feel to 'em) but I would have to say, I don't think the music is Pixiesh at all.
I've listened to a shitload of Modest Mouse, Pixies and Pavement. Anyone saying they don't have some Modest Mouse influence needs to go back and listen to The Lonesome Crowded West or This is A Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, because it perfectly fits in with the sound, song structures, and vocals.
why have no reviewers commented on how much this sounds like the pixies?! its so much like them. very very good (not as good as the pixies though, that would be harddddddd)
Sounds a lot like Crooked Rain era Pavement to me. Morso than Modest Mouse, anyway. i can feel The Pixies as well, though they'd never release a track this long.
The guys vocals are kind of a more violent Brock, but the music is more similar to Built to Spill circa Perfect From Now On or maybe even Red Stars Theory. Actually, it's sorta like any of that cool textural rock from Seattle/Olympia in the mid-to-late 90s. Just happens Modest Mouse were the band from that scene that got the most famous.
The thing is this band doesn't sound EXACTLY like any of those bands, but like another awesome band from that era.
wow they are from Staten Island,New York the shithole of ny i didnt think any good bands where from my town but mine but i guess there are they are just so good
