  • i have tried the other cake in a mug, and it tasted bad..... but i wanna try this one now lol

  • MT OWN TIP! - you can avoid the 'flavours (dried cranberries n white chocolate) from 'sinking' down to the bottom if you just lightly dust them with some flour before you add them in to the mix :)

  • You guys took such little bites off of a little piece of cake. Brits need to eat. They say food from America is big. Ha! Its because we eat and not starve ourselves.

  • regular flower okay?

  • just curious.....what would happen if one forgets the milk?

  • haha subscibe pillow :D

  • Hey Guys,

How can you make a gluten-free version of the cake in a mug? I am also lactose intolerant but obviously I would just use lactose-free milk.

    Love you videos!

    Katarina from Denmark

  • @MissKrohg I'm gluten intolerant and i just used my gluten-free baking mix instead of the flour and it turned out great!

  • They should call it cake in a cup

  • I used canola oil in stead of sunflower oil. Does that make a huge difference? because my cake didn't turn out that great and I'm trying to figure out why.

  • What would you suggest to make the cake more moist? It's always really dry when I do it :/

  • @ToBefoREVerxx I'd suggest adding more oil- maybe another teaspoon?

  • I know what I'm gonna have for breakfast every day.

  • what is selfraising flour? can you use something else? like baking powder? :)

  • i didnt really liked it.. so i added some syrup and it was AWESOMEE :)

  • Turned out d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s~! <3

  • Your recipes look good but stop pandering to the diet crowd. Us non-dieters want to eat fatty sugary food. make some of those.

  • Just a dollup of cream

  • If you don't have Self Rising flour just add all purpose flour with some baking soda and baking powder, about 1/4 teaspoon of each.

  • Can I use vanilla extract?

  • mine was extremely dry :L

  • It rises like a souffle :)

  • I love your recipes so much because they're easy and yummy. I have an interest in cooking but I pretty much suck at it :/

  • you guys, the whole point in this is to NOT use an oven. "no-bake, hassle-free"

  • do you have to use sunflower oil? could you use the regular?

  • I tried it just now, I didn't believe it would work. Nothing I ever tried to cook in the microwave came out right, except popcorn and now this. Much thanks! :)

  • molten choc cake in a mug would be fantastic idea, if possible!?

  • The awkward moment when half the cake goes missing

  • Could you also add vanilla sugar?

  • What about a vanilla one? just a plain vanilla cake?

  • do you have to use caster sugar?

  • @GrimbleFly You can use granulated if you like, caster sugar is just smaller pieces :-D

  • Dear chef, can I use fresh fruits? Will they go mushy and horrible in the heat?

  • just made it <3 MMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • You're doing this recipe in the name of cancer research, and you realize that cancer patients should NEVER eat this?

    White flour - NO

    Sugar - NO

Everyone do yourselves a favor if you or a loved one have cancer & read "Beating Cancer With Nutrition." You don't need to hear it from me, do your own research. I know I won't be feeding this to my mom, though, I actually want her to live. BTW, the cancer industry (earning millions of dollars every year) has no interest in curing cancer.

  • @agrv8ion And what did you do for cancer?

  • @clandestine919 If you read my comment again, you'll see that it's not me who has cancer, it's my mom. What did I do? Hours and hours of research. I sense sarcasm so I don't know if I'll even bother to elaborate. Just ask yourself why doctors inject cancer patients with radioactive glucose in order to find out where cancer is located in the body. The glucose goes straight to the sugar-seeking cancer cells...and cancer clinics put cupcakes & lollipops out at the reception desk.

  • @agrv8ion First of all, my mother also had cancer. She was diagnosed when I was eight. So I've probably done just as much as you have. Second, they aren't saying "Make these wonderful cakes and stuff them into cancer patients!!". It's just giving money to support them by doing what they know how to do. And third, I think that you bitching about people making cupcakes is incredibly juvenile.

  • @clandestine919 I found this video while researching healthy recipes that I could make for my mom. Search "cancer, recipe" and it's a top result. You call it juvenile to warn people that the very recipe done in this video, all in the name of cancer research, feeds cancer? Go ahead and donate your money to a corrupt industry, no one's stopping you. As long as the money rolls in and people remain ignorant, nothing will ever change.

  • i tried it to but it tuned out really gross ):

  • I always make cake in a mug once in awhile if i want to treat myself thanks to you guys :D

Mine would be really chocolate-y though lol

  • the awkward moment when there is no corners on a cup xD

  • @lilabarrett the awkward moment when your comment is the top comment and you have a spelling mistake...

  • Basically the only reason I wish I owned a microwave... I would totally make one of these EVERY. DAY.

  • Can you add raspberries instead of cranberries?

  • i love how brittish people say 'dollop'

  • Will an oven do?

  • @bunforthewin If you're going to use an oven, you're probably better off cooking our Royal Wedding Cakes

  • what if you don't have microwave???

  • @makeuploverkawaii In that case have a look at our Royal Wedding Cake video :-D

  • if we dont hv a microwave can we still bake it in an oven?

  • looks kinda like a souffle

  • witchcraft

  • Awesome! :) Can i put olive oil instead of sunflower oil?

  • @Cleanyshh I wouldn't use olive oil in anything sweet if I were you, but regular cooking oil will work just as well as sunflower :D

  • This is making me hungry );

  • WOW, that was like watching magic happen!! thanks guys :D

  • could you add some coco and make it chocolate cake?

  • @Maddied96 There's a vid in the description to make chocolate cake

  • Mine lookd like puto. :D IT WAS DELICIOUS AND TASTED NOTHING LIKE PUTO THOUGH.

  • i did this, and mine tasted rather rubbery, what did i do wrong?

  • Can I use all purpose flour instead?

  • mine turned into a kinda jelly cake...i still ate it

  • in love. omggggg nomnomnomnommm<3

  • Just to let y'know you can use Corn Flour instead of Self Raising flour :D

  • This is so cool i made it and it was gone in littarally seconds!!

  • Just tried this out - great recipe but should definitely have used a bigger mug, microwave was rather messy afterwards =s

  • I eat the choccy one at least every other day with a mound of whipped cream on top

  • I have a question.. did your cranberries 'burn' at the top?

I just made this and the dried fruits that floated at the top got burned.

  • I did the chocolate one with my friend and it made us both sick :(

  • Umm.. Ben? A circle doesn't have any corners..

  • I made the chocolate one tonight. It's beautiful :3

  • What corners? Its a round cup

  • @BalayleeNails corners as in where the sides of the cup meet the base of the cup.

  • Can you make a video on how to clean the mugs afterwards, that's my biggest problem? :P

  • I don't know where to get a small egg and ground up almonds, gonna try it any way, lol

  • This man spends a lot of time worrying about the corners.

  • my left ear really enjoyed this video xd

    btw love ur show

  • Funny, but an insult to real cakes...

  • 1st attempt: tough & rubbery.

2nd attempt adjusting cooking time from 2:30 to 2:10 - Not quite so tough & rubbery but still not what I would call a proper "cake". Still, it was a fun experiment and worth perfecting. Very enjoyable!

  • everytime i make this it doesn taste like cake, it just ends up all rubbery n discusting, help!

  • all these recipes look so tasty. SUBSCRIBED!!!!!!

  • I want to make this for my brother, but he's allergic to egg. Is there an alternative to eggs?

  • it's always so exciting to see what shapes it rises up into!

  • I really appreciate your recipes, always learn something new. Ty :)

  • what if you dont have Self raising flour? it's kinda hard to find self raising flour where i live...

  • @windom143 use normal flour n a lil bit of baking powder

  • I've done my weight watcher's version of it using oat meal and muesli to replace flour, used skim milk and skipped adding oil, and the "cake" rose as nicely when it was cooked, I ate it with honey instead of cooking it with sugar. Great stuff for breakfast :)

  • They have the same microwave as me :D

  • @sortedfood I made this cake last night but it cam out as hard as a biscuit few minutes later! What's wrong with it :/

  • I worked out a microwave brownie recipe by accidentally fusing the two sorted cake-in-a-mug ones, and i thought i'd share it:

    1 tablespoon of caster sugar

    1 table spoon of flour

1 table spoon of powdered almond

    1 tablespoon of melted butter

    1 tablespoon of cocoa

    enough milk to mix

i put it in a really big mug (to increase the surface area...), and it came out with a brownie like texture. Plus, it doesn't use eggs, and let's be honest; how often do students actually have edible eggs in the house?

  • i tried this and for some reason my cake was very very sad :( i dont like sad cake

im gonna have to try this again and see what did wrong...hopefully it comes out better next time :)

  • I was trying to hit ur subscribe pillow but didn't work

  • ....and this is why I am subscribed

  • @earthboundfreak64 lol i know right ? I would make a cake in a mug but i dont have a microwave :( Whats an alternative for the microwave?

  • I HAVE THAT MICROWAVE !!!!! XD

  • Can I substitute the white chocolate with sugar free chocolate chips and use Splenda for castor sugar instead? I'm making this for my diabetic friend for his birthday!

  • hey im allregic to carnbarrys

  • @andoowah12 The cranberries are optional! :)

  • Se ve bueno... ñam! :)

  • can you bake it in an oven?I don't have a microwave but I really want to try this cake recipe!seems so easy and simple!

  • I have that microwave :D

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is a good dish for people like me. I'm a terrible baker. I really wish I have amazing cooking skills :(

  • what if you don't have self rising flour?

  • @lolitalove57 add about a teaspoon of baking powder :D

  • @lolitalove57 you can make your own self rising flour. just add a bit of baking powder and salt. my bro and i googled it and it turned out fine(:

  • @lolitalove57 or go to da shop near u and buy some

  • @lolitalove57 i put normal flour and it was fine

  • The music is amazing! Good job Mike! :)

  • can you try to make pumpkin bread or pumpkin cupcakes or pumpkin muffins something with pumkins since its fall PLEASE

  • i put in m&ms yuuuummmm ^_~

  • Have you done an egg-free cake recipe? And if you haven't, could you, please? A friend of mine is severely allergic to egg and I would like to bake her a cake sometime.

  • ben is so cute!! agghh! :D

  • I tried making the original version of this a few times. No matter how much I reduced the amount of time I had it in the microwave it tasted rubbery and doughy. I couldn't get it right :( I would love some Halloween sweet treat recipes! They would be great, I love Halloween and Sorted :)

  • can you make this in an oven? :)

  • @april032008 that defeats the purpose though!

  • Replace the milk with whipped cream and it's perfect! I tried the original and it was a bit rubbery and doughy. The air incorporated from the addition of whipped cream makes the texture amazing.

  • I tried this last night, and it tastes like dough. I tried making it in vinilla, could you make a video on how to make it in vinalla

  • Hey! Same question as DanishDragon. Can you use regular flour (and how much of it) and baking soda (how much)?

  • Can I make a microwave cake without almonds or chocolate?

  • @jamie141999 YES, please!

  • Where can we get those cool posters you guys always have in the background?

  • I tried this recipe, but I used mini chocolate chips and mini peanut butter chips. It was pretty bad. :(

  • lmao why on earth would someone go out there way to dislike this ? Must of been those bloody Anti Cake Campaigners again!!

  • Im not really keen on the sunflower oil, what does it do to the recipe?

  • what if you just want to use regular flour and baking soda?... How much baking soda would you have to add?

  • I tried this and I think I did something wrong it came out tasting like Omelete and wasn't very nice :/

  • i'm sorry i don't have the photo, i ate it right after i took it out of the microwave :D and it was delicious!

  • what´s the yellow one? i can´t understand that :// pls help

  • Does anyone know what the song is? It's killing me.

  • @GreyEyedBabe It's not really called anything!?! Mike wrote it for us... he writes all the SORTED backing tracks.

  • @sortedfood What if you don't have microwave can you put it in the oven. if it can how much should I set up.

  • @kadensgrandpa08 Thanks :) I'm not in the US though, I'm in Canada haha still works ;)

  • can you put chocolate milk

  • @MrBBOYCALI it seems redundant because you could just add chocolate chunks in or do as the other recipe did and add chocolate powder, if you want a chocolate cake.

  • Did this in my mug and it cracked. Such a shame

  • @sortedfood are u guys thinking of doing stuff for Halloween bonfire night and christmas cos for halloween u cud all do tht recipe in costumes and for Christmas u cud make Christmas pudding with a sorted twist but not sure wat u cud do for bonfire night

  • @LuTube1001 We have a few ideas up our sleeves... but always wanting to hear your too! :D

  • I tried this, and it flopped a little bit because I had only had plain flour, no self raising flour or baking powder :(

It was perfectly edible ( and it was incredibly tasty! ) but the texture was quite doughy. Don't take shortcuts people :P

  • im in sixth form and we have a microwave in our block and i made this and everyone wanted one! it tastes so good!

  • I just made this and forgot the milk.... People, don't forget the milk if you make this! Trust me. :S

  • whats happens if you dont have oil? ...lol

  • @ZeroThreeSixteen Oil makes the cake a bit more moist, that's it. You can leave it out, it will be a bit dry.

  • @ZeroThreeSixteen you can use butter, but it'll be more fattierr

  • BTW - 3 minutes in an 800 watt microwave is roughly 2 minutes 10 seconds in an 1100 watt!

  • @sortedfood OK I tried this just now and i'm wondering whats it supposed to taste like. I was hoping for something like a sponge cake but mine turned out springy, plastic-ky, and slightly elastic. Am I doing it right?

  • im so gonna make this, its so easy!! thanks!!

  • @BensproutVlogs Brilliant... wish you mum happy birthday from us. Have you got a photo of the finished macarons?

  • Can I add vanilla essence for flavouring instead of ground almond? I know you suggested the chocolate recipe, but I make that quite regularly and thought this would be a nice change! Hope you can help! Love your videos as always :)

  • Did anyone else wonder how it was incredibly big, then when he put the cup down it massively reduced in size?

  • @olirulz2k8 As it cooled (and got jiggled around when he moved it) it would have have settled and deflated. Despite the way it looked in the video, the cake did not go flat in a second. They just edited two shots together that were probably taped a couple of minutes apart.

  • is it possible to transform it into a bread in a mug... the cake is delicious and I love the texture and I wandered immediately if there was a salty alternative.. like a quiche is to a pie... (I'm afraid to replace the sugar with salt, because that is going to be to salty... well I don't quite know - yet I'm curious and I'm wondering :D)

  • Do you guys know a way to make this in a normal oven? I don't have a microwave :/

  • @ohhijoanna Yeah, it's the same for me. I'm a poor student and can't afford a microwave :(

  • You guys entertain me very well... hahaha <3

  • when i tried it with the choco version it topped over the edge and it was quite gross XD did something wrong with the flour or chocolate then i guess? anyways, this looks delicious, as always.

  • my microwave is 1100W so how long should I cook it?

  • @gumgala 1:30-1:45

    See how it looks.

  • i'm in utter awe right now ?!?!!!!!

  • i tried this recipe and the other chocolate one and they both turned out a really rubbery consistency. Do you know why?

  • Just to make it easy for people:

Equal parts sugar and flour (selfraising, replace 1/8? of the flour with baking powder)

A quarter of that value in either cocoa powder, ground nuts or simply more flour and sugar

1 tablespoon of both milk and oil per 5 tablespoons dry ingredients

    add random sweet treats

    Bake 3 min at 800W

This way, it's all interchangeable, so you can make it however you like!

  • @eliten0Ob Nicely put!!! :D
