@hecklerjh420 regular A4 /Letter sizes will do. It Depends on what you want to do with it afterwards. But the great thing about drawing in Vectors is that you can resize without problems.
Normaly I do the sketch on a seperate layer and delete the entire layer after the inking. But In this case I just quick selectde al lines with the same colour blue and deleted those.
This method you've shown works for me but I still have a problem with open paths in my artwork. I don't use the Merge or Unite Pathfinder options, before compounding the paths. I get the same results when using Outline Stroke and Compound Path, without Expanding Appearance, then releasing the Compound Path onto a new layer. At what stage do I need to 'close' the open paths, so that the fills don't overlap into undesired areas? Thanks again!
@sopling Since English is not my native tongue it's a bit hard for me to explain. But I will make a nother video on this soon and try to do this with me talking :D

@schizo910 Thanks, i planned on using them in a comic strip. I would probably print them anyways, so nice to know. Still kinda new at this program.

Another question, what command did you use to get rid of your 'sketch' lines at the beginning? Is that also a Pathfinder function?

thank you very much for making this helpful video. I just need to get a few steps straight.
1. Trace with Pen, Pencil or Brush.
2. Expand paths (see effects in Outline Mode) to make the paths filled shapes.
3. Make lines into compound path and expand in Pathfinder.
(How does the Merge or Unite function come into play here? Are they essential steps?)
4. Copy or duplicate to new layer
5. Choose Release Compound Path, then get to coloring.
