to make a long story short; bree was a homeschooled girl without any friends beside Daniel. Pretty geeky girl but cute, she posted some random videoblogs on youtube. The religion she followed almost ruined all of her friendships.

Her an daniel found out she had to do this ceremony for her religion, but noone would tell her anything about it. Then she backed out, but because The Order tried to get her back, Bree and Daniel were on the run from them. During that period, Bree's dad turned out not to be her real father and he died.

And they also met Jonas. So now there were 3 of them. Jonas' aunt Alex (at whoms house they were staying for a little while) acted all good and normal, but soon they discovered she was part of The Order as well and tried to get Bree back this way. Bree's blood was trait-positive, which was rare but essential for the ceremony. That's why they desperetly tried to get Bree back. Aunt Alex told them they had another girl and didn't need Bree anymore right before she went with The Order.

Then, Taylor and Sarah jumped in to help when Bree and her friends tried to 'save' this new girl, Julia. In the end, they failed and willingly, Bree went back to her religion (the Hymn of One) to do the ceremony. At this point, Emma stepped in. Unfortunatly this ceremony caused Bree to die. Later, Jonas found a message on Daniels cellphone in which Bree told them

it wasn't what she really wanted to do, but she had to do the ceremony because if she didn't, The Order would be after her the rest of her life and she'd never be free. Emma is trait-positive too. So she could do the ceremony as well (Emma and her parents used to be in the Hymn of One but after watching Bree's story they backed out, and want Emma to do so too). Sarah says its Emma's personal decision,

and if she wants the shots to make her trait-negative, she can. Jonas doesn't want her to take these injections because he thinks she can use them against the hymn of one and take revenge for killing Bree. Emma decidies to take the injections anyway and now Jonas is pretty pissed at her.
