  • Turks are nationalist indeed, and truly have taken lot's from many many different cultures and call that Turkish now...admitting their culture is an amalgam of things from china to Bosnia...but Greeks are even worse because they don't even want to admit they have a lot taken from the middle east and especially from the dreaded Turks...but that's understandable, They have to recreate a great Greeknes out of what was and what many want to believe is and was!

  • nice

  • Turks the nomads, brought a lot of things with them from the area's where they wondered. Turks were and are the real Conquerors and travellers of our planet and our hearts. Instead of being jealous have sympathy for this ancient people.

  • c'est karagöz

  • don't you think it is weird? even the names are Turkish. oh, by the way, The Ottoman Empire was an Turkish Empire. It's up to you to decide, because even if we prove you it is Turkish, I don't believe you may sustain us:)

  • Karagozis theatre was started so that poor children can have a good time.

  • Well, actually the shadow theatre is a indonesian tradition -the shows lasted sometimes a whole day-

so neither is it greek nore is it turkish.

  • C'mon, don't be immature. This tradition is both greek and turkish. The greek version cames from the turkish KARAGÖZ. I love both of them.

BTW the figures are rally beautiful!

  • Karagiozis and Hadjiavatis:D yes traditional greek shadow game:P

  • Karagöz is as Greek as Dolmades or Bozuki or as any other Turkish word is.

  • As long as it goes for bouzouki because the main form as we know it today was that doesnt mean that it started from it :p get a clue about laouto :p greeks had music when you people was still in caves... the name is turkish not the origin :P

  • Better open a dictionary friend to see how many greek words do you have inside. About your food, is stolen from persians armenians and greeks, about the shadow theatre, is neither greek nor turkish, it was first appeared in the area of india.

  • karagiozis?? ahaha .. thiefs!

  • thats how u say it in greek.... karagoz, or however u say it is probably just a translation khajisavva says

  • It is KARAGÖZ, not karagiozis

  • karagoz karagkiozis same thing same origin, ottoman heritage. Art doesn't have borders. Sit back and enjoy that's the main point of karagiozi anyway!

  • this aint karagoz but karagiozi! he's greek!

  • he he :) karagiozis??? traditional greek?? :):)

  • dude, saying traditional greek we do not mean it has origins in ancient greece.. It is obviously a tradition that passed to greece from ottoman empire, where there were many greeks before 1955
