If you like "A Pittance of Time" by Terry Kelly you might also like my song "Beautiful Ride" that I wrote after the loss of a loved one. Find it on Youtube or iTunes under Alanna Wilson. Comments/likes appreciated. Thank you and to all those who have lost, stay strong <3
I watch this video every year and cry as if it is the first time viewing. Terry, thank you for this keepstake. I used to see you at Saint Mary's University Gorsebrook Lounge in the late 1970's early 1980's. You're an inspiration!
Tomorrow we honour the brave, we honour the strong, we honour those who died for our freedom and way of life. WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, the battlefield matters not. What matters is that they gave the ultimate sacrifice to save us. The very least you can do is dawn a poppy, and honour them with your silence at the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month. And to honour those who serve now, for god's sake when you see them in passing thank them.
remarkable footage, have always loved this song and orig. video by terry kelly, but your version is also fantastic putting faces to names and pictures/footage to the stories about the living HELL of war and the heros who serve and have served, makes us all realize even more the personal side of it...many many thanks for this excellent video..."lest we forget" dorothy
my friend was in a jeep in afgahanastan, when close by a bomb was dropped from a plane, he was the only one in his troop that surrvived he had to crawl back to help
around the top of manitoba theres a lake named after my great great uncle who during WW2 body slamed a grenade and saved a hole bunch of people from dieing in an explosion
I love this song, Both my Grandfathers were in the Seccond World War, both dead :( Thhere were and still are so many questions I wanted to ask them both.My Mothers father was in Operation Jubliee (the raid on Dieppe), & my Fathers Father was in Operation Husky (the Allied invasion of Sicily) He was known as "A D-Day Dodger:`
i love how americans look down on canadian armed forces untill i wip out a history book and show em' the result of the war of 1812. needless to say, they dont teach it in high school in the states.....they need to feel invunerable.
i plan to go to france someday and visit one of those grave sites near the normandy beaches.
ok i just wanna say that im not telling a lie but today at my school terry kelly came and he sang pittance of time and mama likes to rock'n'roll, he also played the guitar and piano for the songs and told us storys about how it was being blind as he was growing up as a kid, he told us that even tho hes blind, if u pput your mind to it, u can accomplish anything, good man and this was a great video, thank you for sharing it
My grandfather do the second world war and he die there......I'm the first military in my family after him i just want to say thanks for everyone your support is really appreciate
i am a 15 year old army cadet, and it makes me sick when during my school assembly idiots jump around and talk. I swear to god i have more respect for the dirt on my combat boots than i do for those people. Its weird how people in other countries respect Canadian soldiers more than Canadians do. I hope that one day people will be more respectful to the reason that Canada and a lot of other countries are free.
i will always remember them lots of family have not have fathers ormothers and yes it is a pittance of time but still i dont get why people dont stand in silence its only 1-3 minutes that ur asked to stand for these people that is the least we can do they gave us freedom and peace.
i think this song rocks i get teary sometimes but what i am trying to say is that i take this day very seriously and that i think that it is not fair to the families that have lost a brother a sister father mother etc. i just cry every rememberence day
I will never forget that these people died in order to give us the privilege of living in a free country. these people died for people they never knew and people that they might have considered enemies, but they also died for their friends and families. they truly are the heroes of our time.
i get teary eyed when i listen to this song, thank you so much for posting this!
im only ten and my dad sais i could join the army and i always respect people who have died in the war when i join is 19 years old that's how old u have to be.
i respect those who died, fighting for theyre country on either side of the war, axis and allies, they both lost theyre lives for their countries, and i respect them truly.
Thank you Tasha for posting this video, makes us all stop and think for a moment about how lucky we really are to have our troops fighting for freedom and world peace. In peace may they rest, may we never forget why they died.........
~im peace may they rest may we never forget why they died~
my great great uncle nicky and his wife were killed in world war 1 and i lost so many family members in the holocaust and when i hear this song i cry for them and other times i can't cry i don't why but its so hard to imagine how many people have died and are dieing now.. people who make jokes about this stuff listen to the first parts of the song ebcause thats what i think about those who make fun or war members and wars themselves..
Poignant song. Good to support ALL the troops currently serving. Whatever nationality. Two minutes a year is not a lot to ask. God bless them. For the ones left behind, may your God go with you and give you strength.
I agree with you though, I just find it fun to scream out "I'M ASIAN" for some reason, it's completely stupid but satisfying to me. One question though, wouldn't you have said that no one cares that i'm canadian also? It said it in the same comment. I'm just wondering
hah thats funny but some of the kids at my school think that htis means nothing but to all the lives lost in WW1 and WW2 but i get in trouble if i try to tell them me and my class are actualy doing the rememberance day and i take this celebration so serious
Terry Kelly's song has hit home to many a nation. Its not just the song but the original video, and respect for our troops, regardless of the war they are fighting in.
