  • Lusitano's and Andalusians are the SAME horse, One being Portuguese and the other being Spanish is all. The lusitano's have kept more of their stock horse type hip and build (bullfighting) and the Andalusians have been so called refined for more height and detailed features for classical dressage work is all. The Lippazans are nothing more then Andalusians bred with a few Polish Arabs a long time ago as well. Jennets are also in the same family tree along with the all powerful Barb.

  • @Race62hud Well since the two blood lines have been separated for 60 to 70 years, I would hardly call the PRE and the Lusitano the same breed, I lived in Spain for 14 years, and they would laugh at you if you said that. The two have very distinctive bodies, and they have both developed into different breeds due to the crossing of dilutant genes in the Lusitanos. Only recently were Chestnuts allowed to be registered in Spain. Not buckskin, or cremellos, and they like very little white markings.

  • @bonnie448 I agree but they are from the same original species. Minutely diverged. But I don’t care about social/border disputes. I own them both and love them both myself. PRE and the Lusitano people can argue black vs. white to each other dosent change the facts. Man is not capable of breeding and changing a species so little in 60-70 years without massive inbreeding as was done with cattle or the miniature breeds of horses. Its all just paper in the end. Lvoe them for what they are, Perfect!

  • Interesting, though they all have the "Spanish" type of movement; there are several different body types

  • @pegasus1747 Spanish type movement,,take a look at a spanish horse moving.lusitano's are completly different. They are much smoother than andalusians.

  • @pegasus1747 and more gracious than andalusians. for some reason the portuguese and spanish bullfighters use the lusitano

  • Very content horses, very ready to be doing what they are doing

  • I see relaxed happy horses that have not been pushed too hard or too soon.

    Nicely done gentlemen.

  • Really sorry not to have been there.

  • Really Good!
