Watching this video, I thought of all the times I watched my friends take off in their F-4's, C-130's, C141's, etc. Although it was over 40 years ago, the memories are as clear as if it were yesterday. Thanks for posting this.
My thoughts, today, are with the people of Japan with the hope that things will be better very soon.

@AZBob602 If Tolley Hall (Trolly?) is haunted, here's a reason... Chief Tolley dropped dead at Yokota in 1980 a month short of 30 years service. He spent most of his career in Japan. His spirit is remembered by many. He didn't bat a thousand but I can say of him that he usually got things done his way and, when it counted, he fought hard for his troops with the powers-that-were.
really an amazing place to grow up. Lived about a mile from where i went to elementary school and my mom had no worries about letting me walk home every day after school. Just a safe, great community
@richguev, It is a really big base there and really pretty sight to see. You can do a lot of stuff off base. Also, there is a festival they have called Friendship Festival where Japanese people go on base to see a lot neat stuff on base. It's a nice community and a pretty safe and not that much crime going around.
The Yen was 360 to the $ then. The AB was packed with civilian aircraft that flew GIs between Vietnam and the stateside. A whole bunch of wounded GIs arrived at Yokota to be treated as well.
Sorry. Hardstand 5122 was where they stored amunition on Yokota AFB back in the 1980's. It looked like the view from there. No worries. It was a long time ago.
Japan is a awesome place. Get out in town every chance you get. Dont be afraid to explore. Have your family visit you, they will love it too. Ditto Alohatj
Did you live in those ten story towers? I lived in #4300(green tower) at 1D next to Yokota East Elementary School where I attended from 1980-84. Remember Bldg 10 and that scenic drive along the fligh tline from east to west side of the base? I miss Yokota, Fussa, the "yen" store right off base and that smell when you leave off base. Yokota AFB was my stomping grounds as a kid. ;). Man you got me all emotional!
町田市民です。家から横田基地の飛行機がよく見えております。
でも厚木基地の飛行機とは違い戦闘機は少なく輸送機などが多いですね。

以前は戦闘機の飛来が多かったのですが、確かに今は輸送機が多いですね。
