"We can sometimes be stirred to care for 'distant strangers' more readily than we can be to express concern for the inequalities that exist almost literally on our own doorsteps. The extent of social inequalities that persist in our cities is a sad indictment of the failure of our geographical imagination to care for those closer to home"
This pretty much puts it in perspective for me, thanks for reminding me that I have a moral obligation to others besides myself. If everyone performed a random act of kindness every day what a wonderful world we would have, yes?
Wow Angel, this is so beautiful! You're beautiful! We need more people like you in the world. I get you, totally, all my frustration with the world is summed up in what you've put in the info. Bless you for speaking out, in the gentlest, but powerful way you've done, and for seeing the truth. Thank you for baring your soul, sometimes you get the feeling that people 'hide', you definately don't, just incredible. Much love, respect and the biggest hug for you :-) X
Our similarities continue, Raz. I have a "Christmas" song with a similar theme, about how people will be kind and generous for a month and then retreat back down into their normal behavior again. The first stanza is
Another year gone, another calling
Waiting to come in
Though we talk of love and gratitude
Peace towards other men
Do you believe it will last past
January 10
Idle quotes and conversation don't changed hardened men
You have nothing to apologize for. Keep being honest.
bingo. Days we are "supposed" to do something really mean nothing to me. The days we are not are what defines us. Love your lyrics as always my dear friend. ~Raz
i've heard alot of negative talk about the focus on haiti while americans go hungry. my feeling is a person in need is a person in need, be it someone on my street corner or half of a world away.
humanity is humanity. compassion is compassion. we need to learn how to care about each other, every day.

people always blame others
I have seen it in my own family to
but at the end of the day it was
all about themselves
if you want to change the world
you have to change yourself first
