i am looking for a safe place to vacation, i was in santo domingo in 08, and had a gun held to my belly while pregnant. My husband is from there so we have to finally go back and introduce our child, but...i want to go somewhere extremely secluded and safe. Ive been putting it off for a long time.
Stayed this past February. not a bad place, nice walks along the water to Las Galeras. For partying, Disco was a hit. great drinks, good music, they were pretty hip. The only thing i didn't care for were the weeds in the beach water.. i didn't like the way they felt on my feet. The workers work hard, so get some cerveja for them. Loved the day that the horses came running through the resort to their pasture just beside the Grand Paradise. Have fun!

I dont like the palms being plantet in rows, it dosent look natural. In thailand, jamaica and cuba you find many beaches like this, and many of them, are even more beautiful! My oppinion
Those are coconut trees, not palms,we can find them by thousands along Samana Peninsula, nobody plant coconut trees in the island, especially in this region,I don't understand what are you talking about....Samana is a paradise in the Caribbean,so beautiful and relaxing......
@dedapista , they are not planted in rows they are natural. Samana is a very virgin place, no tourism before or whatsoever. Thrust me I visited Samana 30 years ago and the palms were alreay there.
The Samana Peninsula is the most beautiful, untouched part of the Dominican Republic. The palm forests on the mountains really give a tropical sense. The beaches are amazing with the bluest of blue waters. Nature meets you there.

Good hyped up video, Samana was awful, 2 people from our cruise ship got ushered into a taxi and driven to an ATM made draw out money at gunpoint and then just left there.....I would NEVER go back, not even if the holiday were free!
Wow, when did that happen? Scary. I guess bottom line, that stuff can happen pretty well anywhere. It could even have happened to us even where we were.
So sorry to hear they were targeted by criminals, but that does not make Samana a bad place at all, is quite safe for most people who go there, people are nice and is beautiful! I almost got pickpocketed in London -my friend did-, chased by a potential criminal in a car in a Miami slum once, I mean, do I crucify England and Florida for that? NO!
hello there! me and 2 of my friends are about to go to samana in a month, and since we are pretty young i just wonder if there are any places to party there? or where the youths (18-25 years old)gather :) please respond. thx
Right in Samana - drinking/partying pretty common. Right down at the waterfront, there was some kind of open temporary bar thing that was set up one night. We didn't go into to Samana except to head over to the Cayo Levantado. We were closer to Las Galeras. R-azore tours were great - we went to a cockfight with them - great guys, local and would be able to tell you more. Otherwise, we do have other Samana vids - perhaps some of the other viewers could give more info.
It was one of my favorites of our 6 weeks. It's beautiful, there's tons to do - horseback riding, ATV's, short walk along the beach to Las Galeras(little town) Rueban in Las Galeras has amazing and very reasonably priced tours. We did Los Haitisis National Park - Terrific! Playa Rincon is another one others talked about. The water is warm, beaches, sailboarding . . . We have more vids. Search Samana.

Yes . . . it was breathtakingly beautiful - untouched. "Nature meets you there" <-- that is so beautiful and so true. I didn't want to come home.
