Most of the time its just fireworks, which carries some risk. But the time bomb ones were variants on explosives. They could be dangerous, very much so. The wrestling itself is still staged as are the explosion spots. Then again your average hollywood action film is staged with explosion spots too. Would you stop seeing those?
The FMW explosions back n the early to mid 90s were real, espically the stuff with Pogo/Onita, which are just all brutal and amazing matches! If you look at the Hayabusa match at the beginning, you can clearly see explosive boxes about 8 ft away from the ring go off when they are triggered by the guys landing on the pad that was by the ring...
The Ontia stuff however, was as real as real can get. Long live the explosions and Onita.
FMW may be gone, but at least we have BJW which is better.
Yay for exploding pool matches. Every Wrestling show should have a exploding pool match lol
Also I don't want any hate or anything but only the explosive barbed wire is real. If you look close enough the big pyro blasts are in boxes that surround the ring.
Awsome video. Iv been searching for a while now for an Explosion DM video.
I really dont understand why indie feds in the US dont use explosions any more. I know CZW used explosions a long time and the last they used it was in COD 4.
And the only explosion i saw in IWA MS was when Tank dropped Brain Damage on a fire cracker..neither have i seen it in IWA EC or DS.
Onita was the one that started the whole thing. After doing some standard barbed-wire matches, he participated in the first N.R.Ex.B.R match against Tarzan Goto. After that, the standard "garbage Wrestling" match was revolutionised into a big deal in Japan. Cages, landmines, and the fan favorite "time bomb" matches were a huge attraction in FMW for many years, which also had notable talents work in the same style matches
@RKOyouALL it's staged but no, the explosions were real. guys were seriously hurt doing this. I think this is what I was told that there were jail sentences issued for using napalm for the explosions. I think it was this anyway.
