First of all nine lives is ability of Hercules, using his bows to kill the multi-headed dragon, though any weapon would be possible, this ability was chanelled to his weird axe-sword weapon and if archer replicates his axe-sword so is the ability channeled to it w/c is nine lives(refer to projection)
He owns the spear that will one day become Gae Bolg. The only weapons he doesn't own are the ones made after his death. Which amounts to Caliburn, because it was created by Merlin, and Excalibur. Every other weapon? In there somewhere.

This is also because, since he has all of the weapons in the world, even armors and shields. No people can match him other then emiya who has the similar same power as him.

He knows how to use those weapons, just not at their full potential. Like that ice blade, or scythe that strikes from a different angle, or Vimana. The only reason he'll lose to Emiya is through arrogance, not because Emiya is better at close combat than him.
Gil can still toy with an angry Saber when armored, allowing hits multiple times before his armor can go down, where the latter can fight at a speed comparable to Lancer whose speed Archer can barely even track.

Against Saber? Archer was lucky in the Fate route that he wasn't killed. Same in UBW. He managed to kill Berserker a few times but that still isn't enough. His fight with Lancer was already turning bad for him when his prana supply was running low after using Rho Aias, and yet Lancer could still use Gae Bolg six times in a row.
Heaven's Feel, Saber and Berserker had sever stat penalties.
Contrast Gilgamesh who doesn't have as much trouble against the same opponents.
@Cypher0120 in fate route he was surprised to see archer. hell even shirou noticed it.....lancer couldnt use gae bold anymore. since he used the exploding version he also ran out of mana... the normal version can be sued 6 times not the exploding version.

Archer's body was covered in wounds, his arm nearly broken, etc. after using Rho Aias in contrast with Lancer who is still perfectly fine. Did you even read what happened in the fight? Where is it mentioned that Lancer was out of prana as well, huh?
Secondly, Saber under Sakura had a severe downgrade to her agility, luck, and Instinct ability. That's her downfall there, and don't forget Rider's help to properly beat her instead of self-destructing.
First off, that was an unspecified time, not 10 seconds. Saber was equally, if not more mana-deprived thanks to Caster, and Shirou was a non-factor. As soon as the contract with Rin was formed, she proceeds to own Archer and even when he activated UBW, there was no guarantee at all of beating Saber.
Stop pulling things out of your ass. I have the novel in front of me right now and Archer's luck is the only thing saving him. He doesn't last in prolonged fights.
What are you implying? That Saber would have lost from UBW? Even Archer acknowledged that he can only hope for a draw in mutual destruction, and he still has no guarantee that he can beat them, just the death of the two masters.

Against Rider w/ Shinji as a Master yes. Killed Caster by catching her off guard, yes. He has no way of winning against Lancer and Saber. That much was said already. Lancer and Saber could hope for a draw without using their NP against Assassin, take that into account and they won't have any trouble.
UBW weapons won't matter much against any Servant fighting at full capacity. Nor against Gil who can just blow away the Reality Marble or overwhelm him before he can start it.

And you make it sound as if having an anti-dragon weapon is an auto-win against Saber. He needs a decisive strike, to which Saber will not give him by outplaying him in swordplay. Arondight was anti-dragon, and Zero Berserker was still facing off evenly with Saber at the time. Zero Berserker >>> Archer in terms of fighting ability.
Gil, starting off with Ea and his armor, or starting off in his plane is leagues above Archer already. Did you even play the UBW route? BTW, the only reason Shirou won was through catching Gil by surprise. Even he stated he can't let him regain his composure or it'll be a swift death.
And why would Archer start off in UBW? He won't have time to prepare that Reality Marble when his swordspam outside UBW is far less than GoB.
Archer's armor hasn't tanked multiple direct blows from Saber. Sword spam outside of UBW means running out of prana at an accelerated rate and requires more time to prepare. Not good enough.
Unskilled Shirou was using the memories and abilities gained from tracing, not good enough.

Independent Action saved him, not tanking. Had Archer stayed, he still would have died. He still hasn't tanked direct blows from Saber. In fact, he just died from a single slash in Hollow Ataraxia. No Excalibur, just a slash.
Enkidu is not classified under Shirou's normal projection rules, and he hasn't seen the full length of the chain anyways.
And even if he could trace it, he can't make it weave in and out of space through ensnaring, just make it fly at the target.

Archer was already preparing Rho Aias when Lancer leaped back, not instant. Instant is deploying GoB shields like Gil did against Zero Berserker's missiles.
Secondly, the chain binds space, it doesn't appear through space normally unless used in tandem with GoB, no implication at all of being used the same way through projection. Gil's luck stat is too high for Gae Bolg, and he can use that effect too

Yet he used proto-Gae Bolg's effect to bypass Godhand. Or the ice sword against Saber, or the inner workings of Vimana, and a bunch of others. He doesn't normally use them, but assuming he wants something dead, he'll use as much as he can.
Rho Aias was incomplete against Dark Saber, and had distraction from Rider. That's not good enough against Gil since it requires one's own concentration as well. There is no evidence Archer could trace a chain like Enkidu properly. (c.)
Avalon was in his body for ten whole years, a defensive armament from a 'sword.' Enkidu is not a 'sword.' Again, even if he can trace it, it'll still take too long and he can't use it a better way than how Gil uses it. Don't use a no-limits fallacy based on those statements, his technique will not be equal with someone who uses Enkidu as his greatest treasure.

He tries to block with Rho Aias to prepare it, that leaves Gil with enough time to get Ea out, nullifying any chance of UBW winning against it. Or Gil starts out in his plane, bombarding Archer and using his own shields and wait out UBW.
AKA: A serious Gil is not losing to a serious Archer.

In the novel, Avalon doesn't reflect, it just completely defends. And it's only usable as a Noble Phantasm with Saber in close proximity. It's not listed in Archer's stat page, otherwise it will be listed since it's an EX rank.

The fact is, he has GoB. It took into account his EX ranked NP, Saber's status page took into account her EX ranked NP, Archer has various other NPs there, but not the one that matters. Look through it again.
Use actual concrete, F***ING feats instead of BSing your way through this.
When has Archer traced Excalibur? Oh that's right, he only threatened to use it and even then, he'll still die if he blasts with it. Show an actual scene of him doing half the things you claim he can do.
And died in the process using Archer's arm. Yeah, not good enough. That's the reason for the 1 more projection, it still takes prana from him. Using the ability of the sword is separate from the number of projections he has available.
Second, his armor was still pierced all the way through by regular NPs. It's not tanking a full, non-stop barrage and he'll die if hit in his Servant core in the heart or head. Gil was hit with a point blank, Excaliblast. (c.)
When has Archer used the active ability of Avalon instead of it's passive ability? The fact is, Archer's swordspam outside of UBW is not as efficient as Gil's. He'll be forced on the defensive, even worse if Gil starts out in Vimana.
Projecting Excalibur and using its ability is way beyond the limits of what he should even try. You can't make a conclusion from that.
Stop equalizing Shirou and Archer here. Shirou still had his contract with Saber and had her prana to back him up. Archer doesn't. Servant Archer after dying does not have Avalon inside him as a Heroic Spirit since he never actually used it. Use Archer's actual feats! Is it that difficult?

luck works by changing the course of fate in favor to the hero, so having the gae bolg casted means your luck didn't save you, it has already hit the heart before the spear even starts moving and the curse will drive the spear into the heart no matter what obstacle is there

Since archer's ideals were far different from shirou in HF they have so much incompatibility, that's the reason, remember if you say UBW isn't useable by shirou in HF then why was he able to project? projection is a by product of his UBW(reality marble) loosing it means loosing projection too

In Fate, Gil only goes after Saber because her arrogant burden reminds him a little of Enkidu's. It's in Fate/Zero light novels.

First of all nine lives is ability of Hercules, using his bows to kill the multi-headed dragon, though any weapon would be possible, this ability was chanelled to his weird axe-sword weapon and if archer replicates his axe-sword so is the ability channeled to it w/c is nine lives(refer to projection)

@Huskyboyx because, he is just the owner of those swords, not wielder. Because of that, he cannot use all those swords in full power, except his own sword, Ea. and Endiku.
The also, the reason why he will lose to emiya, caz emiya has better close combat experience then him.
This is also because, since he has all of the weapons in the world, even armors and shields. No people can match him other then emiya who has the similar same power as him.

He knows how to use those weapons, just not at their full potential. Like that ice blade, or scythe that strikes from a different angle, or Vimana. The only reason he'll lose to Emiya is through arrogance, not because Emiya is better at close combat than him.
Gil can still toy with an angry Saber when armored, allowing hits multiple times before his armor can go down, where the latter can fight at a speed comparable to Lancer whose speed Archer can barely even track.

Against Saber? Archer was lucky in the Fate route that he wasn't killed. Same in UBW. He managed to kill Berserker a few times but that still isn't enough. His fight with Lancer was already turning bad for him when his prana supply was running low after using Rho Aias, and yet Lancer could still use Gae Bolg six times in a row.
Heaven's Feel, Saber and Berserker had sever stat penalties.
Contrast Gilgamesh who doesn't have as much trouble against the same opponents.

Archer's body was covered in wounds, his arm nearly broken, etc. after using Rho Aias in contrast with Lancer who is still perfectly fine. Did you even read what happened in the fight? Where is it mentioned that Lancer was out of prana as well, huh?
Secondly, Saber under Sakura had a severe downgrade to her agility, luck, and Instinct ability. That's her downfall there, and don't forget Rider's help to properly beat her instead of self-destructing.

First off, that was an unspecified time, not 10 seconds. Saber was equally, if not more mana-deprived thanks to Caster, and Shirou was a non-factor. As soon as the contract with Rin was formed, she proceeds to own Archer and even when he activated UBW, there was no guarantee at all of beating Saber.
Stop pulling things out of your ass. I have the novel in front of me right now and Archer's luck is the only thing saving him. He doesn't last in prolonged fights.

What are you implying? That Saber would have lost from UBW? Even Archer acknowledged that he can only hope for a draw in mutual destruction, and he still has no guarantee that he can beat them, just the death of the two masters.
I didn't say luck as in the status, I was saying luck as in the concept of a main character.
None of what you're saying actually matters. In an actual fight with no outside interference, he still loses to above average Servants.

Against Rider w/ Shinji as a Master yes. Killed Caster by catching her off guard, yes. He has no way of winning against Lancer and Saber. That much was said already. Lancer and Saber could hope for a draw without using their NP against Assassin, take that into account and they won't have any trouble.
UBW weapons won't matter much against any Servant fighting at full capacity. Nor against Gil who can just blow away the Reality Marble or overwhelm him before he can start it.

You're just going into implied abilities and not their actual combat skills. Point is, he'll still suck against Lancer without PIS.
And you make it sound as if having an anti-dragon weapon is an auto-win against Saber. He needs a decisive strike, to which Saber will not give him by outplaying him in swordplay. Arondight was anti-dragon, and Zero Berserker was still facing off evenly with Saber at the time. Zero Berserker >>> Archer in terms of fighting ability.

Independent Action saved him, not tanking. Had Archer stayed, he still would have died. He still hasn't tanked direct blows from Saber. In fact, he just died from a single slash in Hollow Ataraxia. No Excalibur, just a slash.
Enkidu is not classified under Shirou's normal projection rules, and he hasn't seen the full length of the chain anyways.
And even if he could trace it, he can't make it weave in and out of space through ensnaring, just make it fly at the target.

Why don't you read the notes? He has to see the whole thing, not just make additions to something else. His specialty is in swords, anything not that takes a longer time and more prana to project.
Even if he can trace it, GoB, he can't make the chain snake in and out through various exits and entrances. He'd be able to fire it, not ensnare with it.
That's still not tanking if he escaped.

I don't like dropping things that contradict canon, we're continuing.
Archer was already preparing Rho Aias when Lancer leaped back, not instant. Instant is deploying GoB shields like Gil did against Zero Berserker's missiles.
Secondly, the chain binds space, it doesn't appear through space normally unless used in tandem with GoB, no implication at all of being used the same way through projection. Gil's luck stat is too high for Gae Bolg, and he can use that effect too

Yet he used proto-Gae Bolg's effect to bypass Godhand. Or the ice sword against Saber, or the inner workings of Vimana, and a bunch of others. He doesn't normally use them, but assuming he wants something dead, he'll use as much as he can.
Rho Aias was incomplete against Dark Saber, and had distraction from Rider. That's not good enough against Gil since it requires one's own concentration as well. There is no evidence Archer could trace a chain like Enkidu properly. (c.)

Avalon was in his body for ten whole years, a defensive armament from a 'sword.' Enkidu is not a 'sword.' Again, even if he can trace it, it'll still take too long and he can't use it a better way than how Gil uses it. Don't use a no-limits fallacy based on those statements, his technique will not be equal with someone who uses Enkidu as his greatest treasure.
It didn't explode, it didn't turn into a thousand needles, it's effect of being thrown wasn't used.

Secondly, only within UBW is Archer his mortal enemy. Outside it, he's nothing more than target practice.

If he's not in UBW, then it's three times the cost and it will take a longer time since it's not a sword like Excalibur.
Those are unquantifiable feats. I can use the fact that Gil is on the same level as Arcueid. Doesn't matter in an Archer vs. Gil debate.
Gil stood his own against a prana-replenished Saber without using GoB, that already puts him above Archer without PIS.
Weapons stored in UBW are slower than GoB without the actual Reality Marble.

That was nowhere near a close fight since Berserker proceeded to be defeated easily. Gil didn't bother moving at all, there was no reason to.
Same speed implied with what? I don't see Archer in the novel firing them as fast as GoB without catching opponents by surprise. And it still requires his concentration to use.

archer may be able to trace EA.... excalibur actually should be able to traced since it wasnt made in this world but in fairy world. and archer said he can trace it. shirou TRACED excalibur and thats a devine weapon same as ea ekidu... and avalon...

Okay, stop BSing. The wiki itself states Ea can't be traced. The fairy world is still part of Gaia and Ea existed even before the planet.
Again, Avalon is a special case since it was inside him for 10 years.
Don't take specific facts from the wiki and twist them to your own interpretation. Archer still has no defense against a serious Gil.

Secondly, don't bring UBW in. He won't have time to use that against the firepower a serious Gil can bring. He tries to outspam outside GoB, he'll run out of prana and die. He tries to block with Rho Aias to prepare it, that leaves Gil with enough time to get Ea out, nullifying any chance of UBW winning against it. Or Gil starts out in his plane, bombarding Archer and using his own shields and wait out UBW.
AKA: A serious Gil is not losing to a serious Archer.

In the novel, Avalon doesn't reflect, it just completely defends. And it's only usable as a Noble Phantasm with Saber in close proximity. It's not listed in Archer's stat page, otherwise it will be listed since it's an EX rank.
He has no defense against Gil.

Yet he hasn't shown the ability to use Avalon. And the only time Excalibur was traced, it killed the user. Projecting an EX ranked NP's all fine and good, using it's ability will still use up the prana.
Yeah, so what? His armor tanked the blow. So now his armor is EX ranked? No.

The fact is, he has GoB. It took into account his EX ranked NP, Saber's status page took into account her EX ranked NP, Archer has various other NPs there, but not the one that matters. Look through it again.

and shirou died not becuase of the tracing of excalibur but becuase he ran out of time. he only had 1 more projection to use.

well his armor is complete shit. its ok. hell it tanked 2 gob wich are E-A++ and gil died by a excalibur blast thats A++ do the math..

And died in the process using Archer's arm. Yeah, not good enough. That's the reason for the 1 more projection, it still takes prana from him. Using the ability of the sword is separate from the number of projections he has available.
Second, his armor was still pierced all the way through by regular NPs. It's not tanking a full, non-stop barrage and he'll die if hit in his Servant core in the heart or head. Gil was hit with a point blank, Excaliblast. (c.)

When has Archer used the active ability of Avalon instead of it's passive ability? The fact is, Archer's swordspam outside of UBW is not as efficient as Gil's. He'll be forced on the defensive, even worse if Gil starts out in Vimana.
Projecting Excalibur and using its ability is way beyond the limits of what he should even try. You can't make a conclusion from that.

Stop equalizing Shirou and Archer here. Shirou still had his contract with Saber and had her prana to back him up. Archer doesn't. Servant Archer after dying does not have Avalon inside him as a Heroic Spirit since he never actually used it. Use Archer's actual feats! Is it that difficult?
And died. That changes nothing.

Don't reverse the question on me. He can fight on par with Saber in just close-combat. Defeated Lancer simply through swordspam that Archer couldn't replicate. Defeated Berserker without being serious whereas Archer died, can pull out shields to block Noble Phantasms as well, etc.

he didnt simply defeat lancer trough sword spam.
if thats the case archer can also sword spam him to death. and lancer has anti projectile skill so FAIL there kid.
he fought on par with a weakened saber in fate route. that couldnt even injure berserker with her energy restored. and archer killed him 6 (while injured)

@henryhenriquez lancer died in sword rain due being bounded by enkidu(chain that bounds servants w/ high divinity, lancer is demi-god and so is berserker and a bit medusa, that's why berserker were killed easily by gil) archer fire same rate like GoB but consumes lots of prana but negated at UBW, if lancer used gae bolg to gil, gil would have died since gil would not likely to use ea first

@henryhenriquez gae bolg didnt missed saber, it missed the heart(though she was injured and could not have survived a second activation of gae bolg) due to saber's ability instinct w/c allowed her to evade even tsubame gaeshi, were already accounting luck(gil's luck may delay lancer or alter fate being lancer killed by other servant) but if lancer were able to launch gae bolg to gil, hes dead even his armor wont protect him given gae bolg has higher penetration power than excalibur.

read the wiki of lancer gea bolg. and luck matters allot. saber has B while gil has A.
and at B level it only injures.
so at A. it will probably miss.
and archer cant use nine revolver since its a manifest of his reality marble. just like shirou in heavens feel cant use UBW. archer cant use nine lives. different mind set.
tsubame gaeshi was dodge becuase the sword of assasin was bent.

@henryhenriquez luck works by intervening with faith, by the time gae bolg was succesfully activated it means your luck didnt save you, by the time lancer used gae bolg in saber her luck didnt save her, if you read the novel carefully it was her instinct that saved her, it was also noted by lancer, how can he not project a certain weapon? nine revovler is not a manifest, shirou can't use UBW in HF b/c he was actually using the memory of archer's arm

luck will change the future.. her instinct just made her jump and she got hit by the curse but becuase of her high luck it missed her heart. just wounding her.
her instinch saved her agianst assasin.
no he cant use UBW in heavens feel becuase shirou thinks different has different ideals then archer thus UBW cant be used. since UBW is a manifest of being a sword.

@henryhenriquez yes he can't use "archer's" UBW(note hes using archer's arm's memory) but he certainly has his own UBW if he did train(though it might really look different than the two versions)
luck works by changing the course of fate in favor to the hero, so having the gae bolg casted means your luck didn't save you, it has already hit the heart before the spear even starts moving and the curse will drive the spear into the heart no matter what obstacle is there

@henryhenriquez and again he can't use UBW in HF because he was trying to use Archer's UBW(From archer's arm, when he tried to scour the memory and skills of archer), not his own. Since archer's ideals were far different from shirou in HF they have so much incompatibility, that's the reason, remember if you say UBW isn't useable by shirou in HF then why was he able to project? projection is a by product of his UBW(reality marble) loosing it means loosing projection too

becuase projecint is his basis.

BTW don't trust type moon wikia too much, just like what it says that excalibur cannot be projected but it was clearly projected by shirou on the second ending of heaven's feel.

and then used his reality marble to bring it out and use the skill.
there is a page explaining that. archer also said to be able to trace excalibur....
and you know what would be cheap i just tough of...
archer trace GOB. and just get EA out of it... the original and ekidu...
who needs to trace them directly. just trace gate of babylon... its a sword... -__-
