  • what is the music playing at 3:13 ? artist/band?

  • I wonder if he ever put synthetic oil in it???

  • Don Thibault ( p1800.com ) is a thief, Krook, dishonest,piece trash .

I've reported him to ebay and going to take him to court....

  • We also had a MErcedes with 450k miles. It had awful ride quilty im sad to say. It had took a beating from those miles, the 740 and hte merc are 87 a nd 88s and its amazing how much better overall qual the volvo was. All gadgets worked in it, it did not in the Mercedes. and the seats felt almost new in the 740. you got back and bottom pain after about 50 miles or so in the mercedes. And o jave seena 740 iwth 900k miles on it ): amazing.

  • and yes, there are lots of Volvos out there with 400.000+ miles. Especially 200/700/900 series with origianl engines. We had one had a 145 with clsoe to 500k miles on it and a 740 GLE with 400k on them. And by hte ride quailty you could not tell they had traveled that much amazing.

  • The quality of Volvo.

  • It's amazing he never got hit by some drunk driver or crashed it himself.

Go for 4 million miles Irv !

  • Very impressive. I don't believe any car made since 1970 could reach this milestone. I just read a story that he will hit 3 million within two years.

I hate to admit it but I didn't realize Volvo made such a neat looking sports car.

I wonder what he did with the brand new Volvo they gave him?

  • @69apollo13 id imagine he gave the mew sedan which i think was a 760 tp hos wofe-

My 760 only has 200 k miles on it.

  • Keep at it. You're getting there!

  • @volvo145 Irv was given a new 780 coupe when he turned the first million back in 1987. He sold the car to a friend in Europe about three years ago, when it had 450k miles on the odometer.

What year is your 760, by the way? I own a 1996 850 and a 1999 S70. The 850 has 89k original miles on it and has never seen rain or snow. It is always in a heated garage, under a cover.

  • @jsrosa1282 ah a 780- Well me 760 is 1990 model year, the last one. its seen alto of rain or snow since i live i nsweden, but sicne the body is galvanized there is no rust.

  • Now he has 3million

  • Yeah-I'd like to see that to!

  • Whew... Irv Gordon has actually been driving his P1800 longer than its birthplace, Sweden, has been driving on the right side of the road (which started in 1967).

  • @Railer505 Yeas,Sep 3 1967 at 05.00 am.I actually lived in Sweden at that time. 7 years old I remember being scared to death driving with my mom that day!

  • @CGELLC Right. I hear Irv may finally consider retiring his ride after 3 million... not sure if he's willing to go for 4. I suggest to him for his final big drive to do the Dalton Highway in Alaska - which runs parallel to the pipeline 800 miles from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay.

  • @Railer505 Railer, I'm all for Irv going for 4 million. He really has to do it - then it would be an untouchable record that would stand for all time. I'm a die-hard Volvo enthusiast and just to see this car keep going and going is the ultimate joy.

  • @jsrosa1282 I hope so too, but keep in mind that it was back in 2002 he hit 2 million and in 9 years he's put on about 800,000... I mean don't get me wrong, 1 million is a LOT of miles to drive, and Irv is about 72 now, he said he was considering retiring it and selling it for $1 per every mile on the odometer. Funny thing is, the odometer is only 5 digits so it's rolled over 28 times!

  • New Volvos barely last 150k so I doubt the record will ever be beaten.

  • @estandid So do you think I should get, say, a new Lexus or Infiniti if I want to keep a car 150k miles and beyond?

  • @jsrosa1282 In this day and age, with so much electronic equipment it really depends on the specific model as well as the make. You'd be best off with a Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura imo, something without a ton of electronic equipment options and a proven record if you really want to make it last a long time without incredible maintenance.

NEVER buy a Chrysler or a Mercedes. Most GM's are junk too. The new Fords are decent, but still not caught up to their Japanese counterparts.

  • @jsrosa1282 If it's between Lexus and infinity, honestly the Lexus will last longer but I'd rather have the Infiniti.

  • @estandid Now that explains why I see a lot (and I mean a lot) more mid- to late-90s Lexus LS400s still on the road than I do Infiniti Q45s.

My favorite Lexus has to be the 2001-07 LS430s. I'm a little scared of all the electronic stuff that it has but hey, it's a Toyota so it'll last forever. And Consumer Reports said it was the most reliable luxury sedan of the 2000s.

  • @jsrosa1282 You are right, I used to have an 03 ls430 and it was excellent. Just make sure you ALWAYS take it to a qualified mechanic for repairs, otherwise they will total your car if they mess up the computer (which can be done even replacing the bumper)

  • @estandid Wait a minute - an LS430 of that generation can and will be totaled if the computer is screwed up? And an ECU can be screwed up even just replacing a bumper?

  • @jsrosa1282 Yes my grandfather had one and payed someone unqualified to fix the bumper. His wife turned it into the Lexus dealership after the computer was acting very strangeley and it was pronounced totaled.

  • I wonder if the newer (digital) odometers will register one million miles, or if they start over/stop at 999,999...

  • Amazing! That record will probably never be beaten
