  • the actors are all waterfat

  • Personally, I think both the miniseries and movie had their good parts. This scene, I think was better done in Lynch's movie. However, Shaddam's miniseries version along with the miniseries Baron Harkonnen was more book like(Shaddam from movie was just as great but not book like while Baron Harkonnen was a bit too gross).

  • I don't know why people like Sting's version of Feyd Ruatha instead of Matt Keeslar.Keeslar(which is a good villain name all by itself)was a complete character while Sting just posed in a rubber Hawk wing bikini(fan service)for no real reason, carried around a anorexic cat in a cage and hissed and screamed a few lines('I will kill him!").The Lynch fight scene was more film editing than fight work. The mini's fight scene was better(as when the word cousin stuns Feyd).

  • @MrReded69 I think they liked him because he had orange hair.

  • Ok seriously, what the hell is up with the hand gestures starting at 0:42? It's like watching an attempt at out acting William Shatner or some bad high school milking the giant cow crap acting.

And the fight in this version sucked period. At least Sting as Feyd in the 1984 version had some charisma and was badass.

  • This is not how they fought in the book . . . fuck this exaggerates majorly,

  • They raped dune and make it into a faggot fest.

  • So Feyd's trump card is by putting Paul into a position where he could... be fucked? By a belt-needle?

    I don't know, man. It's gay, but they're both hot. And I'm a dude.

  • may the spice be woith you. Uhmmm. i guess it was in another movie. Dam* shoot me, ... please an arrow in my knee.

  • the way he said "The Guild does not take your orders" with all the hand gestures and shit... that made me laugh harder than I ever have in my life.

  • @xombimonkey I used to work with a guy who looked exactly like the guildsman. I payed him $5 if he would reenact this scene. He did and it was so funny.

  • @xombimonkey The little girl was trying to hold it in. If you look closely you can see it.

  • They should totally make another Dune version, one that follows it own story rather than sticking automatically to the books.

  • What we need is a new Dune that has the level of acting and styling of the movie Dune and the length and detail of the Mini-Series. I personally think both are good, but for different reasons. The movie Dune has loads of style and great acting, but was incoherent enough to cause headaches. The mini-series has uneven acting (some actors were good, some awful), but made the story interesting and coherent. Thus, we need the best parts from both and THEN we'd have something great.

  • I believe it's more of a matter of.....'familiarity'. People are used to the old one, therefore can't enjoy the new one. Doesn't mean the movie is bad, simply unfamiliar. I believe if someone were to pick up both movies, and watch this one first, then the old one; odds are they would prefer this version. Just an opinion, but I hope people at least take it into consideration.

  • I always found it funny how people love the old Dune so much and call it a....'masterpiece'. What most people don't realize is that when the first Dune came out, it actually received mostly negative views. It was considered one of the worst movies of the year. And now ,people call it a masterpiece now that it has a remake. No, I don't think the old movie was better; I think this is simply another case of people unable to enjoy a remake because they've seen the old one first.

  • the fight choreography in this movie is terrible.

  • Why doesn't Feyd have his own blade?

  • @Neville6000 Notice that the Fremen had all the weapons. Feyd wasn't armed. And using the Emperor's knife was symbolic. If Feyd won Shaddam would've given him Irulan, hence the next Emperor.

  • @joemjackson: Oh yeah, you're right. Thanks.

  • @Neville6000 Also, the Emperors blade is poisoned in the book.

  • god these costumes and overacting are bad

  • shoud use condom when raping dune spice aids is hell of a disease

  • BAD Kung Fu Panda.

  • Peter Jackson needs to jump on this shit ASAP. Every version has BLOWN so far. Saying one is better than the other is like saying one turd is browner than the other.

  • @actionCHEESE1:Peter Jackson's better off doing his own thing from his own head, instead-doing Dune will be a mistake (especially considering how hard it is to adapt the books to the screen.) I think that the miniseries are a hell of a lot better than any movie version.

  • My God this version is shameful crap...Lynch's version is 1000 times better than this. Lynch and Herbert both wanted the original to be a mini series...what a shame.

  • My God this version is shameful crap...Lynch's version is 1000 times better than this.

  • I love how the book is freaking amazing but the movie is super terrible :(

  • that space guild mook has some ridiculously dramatic hand movements

  • Wow this sucked.

  • what the fuck is Shadam wearing? A Padishah emperor should look exactly like what the David Lynch movie had, the costume designs were good despite being a poor adaption

  • jesus. what is with these costumes?

  • Lynch fans, you guys are making yourselves look embarassing.

  • @marsneedstowels Miniseries fans:

    "Your word means nothing anymore."

  • Man that's some of the worst fight choreography I've ever seen

  • @PlanetOfTheAtheist The David Lynch were costumes were even worse. The miniseries was just low-budget so everything looked cheap as hell. If they had some of that Hollywood blockbuster money, I'm sure they could have done something about the costuming. Those Emperor sleeves are hilarious.

  • Now I see why this is called the "silly hats version". It's more flamboyant than Brazil's Carnaval, and that's saying something.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes this version follows the books more than the David Lynch version, but that doesn't make it better than the David lynch version. I too read the books and loved them, but still love the Lynch version better than this nonsense. here we get something which is more true to the plot of the book, but it feels cheaply made in almost every aspect. The Lynch version may not have followed the book word for word, but it had excellent acting, visuals, and even Frank Herbert himslef liked it.

  • All I know is that I found Julie Cox as 'Princess Irulan' scrumptous!! Yes indeed

  • This is not Dune...

  • @ElementalEcho ugh, yes it is... the mini series not the movie

  • "Know then that it is the year 10,191... and people wear very funny hats."

  • This miniseries was SO much better than Lynch's crappy movie.

  • The word is "urushnor" but I will not say it.

What I will say is the flip dart was cleverly concealed in the mail fighting trunks, a subtle deception (in the book at least). I thought the movie was bad but this is even worse. Read the book!

  • ididnt even know this existed but now i want to see it! i read the books & saw the movie, dune is cool!

  • i like the david lynch version a hell of alot better... but this is pretty good too. the fighting seemed like a bad attempt at something matrix-style but i think this version follows the book alot closer, and is more realistic. i just like the unrealistic much better ;P thats why im OBSESSED with dune! :D

  • Some tough critics here! I like this version better than the Lynch version because it follows the book Dune. I think many of you should try reading the book and see what I mean vs. comparing the movies as a whole.

  • I think someone farted.

  • I lol'd hard! :D

  • The costumes are absolutely the ugliest most riciculous waste of time and money I have EVER seen.

  • Good lord the acting is terrible. Paul has no presence at all.

  • 0:42 WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?

  • @ElBombastico883 CONE HEADS XD

  • I'm not quite sure I agree that the costumes are absurd. It is a certainty that in the future people will look ridiculous to us, especially ceremonial outfits. They've portrayed it quite well by retaining as little noughties culture as possible, as opposed to the thick 80's culture present in Lynch's.

    Acting could be better, though.

  • The costumes are absurd, but I like the tone of the sets (particularly Arakeen) and desert a lot better than David Lynch's. His Dune world was just grim and unpleasant. And this fight is far superior to the poorly paced ring around the rosies that was at the end of the Lynch version. Also, the soundtracks in both the miniseries are monumentally better than the one in the Lynch film.

  • The set design, casting, music, costumes and atmosphere of Lynch's movie is a million times better than this but I do admit the fight between Paul and Feyd was better here.

  • @banglefaar Lynch's film had like 10 times the budget of this, of course all that stuff will look better!

  • jesus, somebody should make a good version. These are pathetic..

  • jesus, somebody should make a good version. These are pathetic..

  • i say push the emperor off a building but his sleeves would glide him down

  • I think they acquired the costumes used in the SyFy miniseries from a Goodwill store that collected donations from the Fifth Element's wardrobe department.

  • Check out the bling bling on Feyd's neck.

  • It's a shame he had to kill his own cousin. And because of the secretive sisters, poor Feyd never knew that Paul was in fact his second cousin by blood.

  • @Thunderstormwitch Actually Feyd was more like a Paul's uncle, Feyd and Rabban were sons of Abulurd, who was brother to Vladimir, and Vladimir was father to Jessica who in turn was mother of Paul-Muad'Dib and Alia. So like I said, Feyd was more of an uncle.

  • @Toneai2007 Actually, that still makes him a cousin.

  • fucking retarded, they took the quotes of Feyd away from this fight, they made his character extra bland,

Sting may have not been that good of an actor, at least he was better than this piece of shit

  • And the acting was as bad as the costumes, as bad as the filmaking etc etc

  • Sting was leaps andd bounds a better Feyd!

  • @AntiSemantic1 definitely

  • everytime I see this crap I like David Lynch version more and more and more...

  • @zyxlamonde umn this one fallows the book the 80's version wasn't even close

  • @zyxlamonde children of dune is better than David Lynch and min series

  • @zyxlamonde I think I semi-agree. Both miniseries and movie had good and bad parts. This scene is still better in movie though. Oddly enough, the Guild are very strange in both. In Lynch movie, the Guild are some robotic individuals with microphones and giant Navigators while here, they have odd hats and pointless gestures.

Both versions need some changes to fit with the book better.

  • @DarthRushy Oh, and some quotes here are also really good like Mohiam and Shaddam, but the Fremen look like Qizarate too early.

  • 0:42 to 0:49 worst acting ever

  • Everybody, watch Children of Dune, it's not great, but it was pretty good, unlike this piece of shit

  • And people give the David Lynch flick shit.

  • I WILL KILL HIM

    oh wait wrong one

  • Feyd looks like Paul Teutul Jr. from american choppers. :P

  • @apxeli LOL

  • liked it better the first time, with kyle and sting

  • The costumes in this series, just so awful.

  • What a fuck up. Ridiculous outfits, the lead guy that plays Paul had absolutely zero presence or charisma. Too bad.

  • The whole thing looks dreadful.

There is no way that Paul looks or sounds like that idiot.

  • This was an extremely good adaptation of Dune, considering it had a low budget by film standards. A couple of the actors were lousy, the battles were underdone, and the costumes were retarded. But overall the movie was very good, and the sequel was even better.

  • @jhop9898 William Hurt was the only good actor in this film

  • @SuperHeroMania You thought so? I thought he was one of the worst...borderline comatose.

  • @jhop9898 I never said his acting was good, but he's reached legend status as far as an acting career, watch Kiss of the Spider Woman or Children of a Lesser God if you don't believe me

  • Haha. "Harkinnin"

  • this looks terrible

  • "I AM THE EMPEROR". "Not for long". Classic abuse

  • jeez, at least the acting in the original dune was good

  • O and In the book chani was a little skinny girl with reddish blonde hair, this chick is hot but not what was described in the book. They also mispronounced her name and the name fedaykin, it should be pronounced FED-A-Keen, it has arabic roots. What they said sounded like a lesbian sex position.

  • imo I think they cast the Baron perfect, but some others are wrong, according to the book, Lady Jessica had an oval face with a small nose, this lady is okay but damn what a snout, and I thought that Feyd was much bigger and more stout than Paul. And I totally agree about the emporer, he had red hair and wore a military uniform. O well, I love all six books and enjoy watching someone else's take on them. PS, the chick who plays Alia in scifi's children cant act but damn she is fine!

  • I agree about the costumes and the way Paul was acting before he became muad'dib are pretty silly, but I also think that this was a good series for sci-fi. actually if an anonymous dune fan that has no ties to hollywood doesnt get to make the movie, hollywood will never get it right. And wtf were the sardaukar wearing in this series?

  • I thought this mini-series was awesome. Great effects, beautifully choreographed. I thought it was great. Maybe the books were better. It was still better than the 1984 movie. Atleast they didnt ask sting to reprise his role as Feyd.

Overall i thought this adaptation was really well done.

  • This was supposed to be a knife fight, not some kung fu bullshit.

  • @TheWrestlerNation Hyper-Evolved Martial Arts -is- going to look like Kung Fu, you moron.

I can see how you would make a comment like that, what with your name being, "TheWrestlerNation".

You must be some slack-jawed redneck who has no real concept of what hand to hand combat really is.

  • @Princess2Warrior Have you read the book you retard? Its a fucking knife fight, they are trying to stab each other, and I happen to love Martial Arts such as Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and Boxing

  • @TheWrestlerNation Yeah - in other words MMA bullcrap.

MMA itself is primitive and the opposite of Hyper-Evolved Martial Arts.

Also, have you read the book? Because it sounds like you've never heard of the Weirding Way.

Weirding Way=Hyper-evolved Martial Arts - very Kung Fu-esqe.

  • @Princess2Warrior I don't really care about hyper evolved kung fu... And theres a reason why mma is much more prestigious then kung fu.

  • @TheWrestlerNation Yeah - it's called bullsh*it commercialism.

    MMA is crap.

  • @Princess2Warrior Have you ever read the book? The weirding way was indeed in the book, but it was not used in the final knife-duel between the two, there was nothing about Feyd Rautha ever using the Weirding Way at all, as he is not a Bene Gesserit or Fremen which cancels out any Prana-bindu training either, he only used the formal rules of kanly to fight

  • @SuperHeroMania And?

I never said Feyd used the Weirding Way or was trained in it.

Though I'm sure Paul used it, to defeat Feyd.

This is 10,000 years in the future so any form of Martial Art is hyper-evolved I.E. more advanced than what we have now.

Feyd didn't use the Weirding Way but he obviously used a more advanced form of hand to hand than we have now.

  • @Princess2Warrior And also, Paul never used the weirding in the book against Feyd, he would have won in a second if he used it

  • @SuperHeroMania= If Paul had used the weiding wai in his duel, he would owe the Bene Gesserit his victory.

  • @vigo894 agreed

  • @Princess2Warrior only Paul used the weirding way, not Feyd, this fight got most of it wrong from the book

  • @Princess2Warrior Paul Atreides never used the weirding way in this fight from the book, if he did Feyd would have been killed in a second, this mini series is bull shit, try reading the book instead

  • David Lynch's movie may have had it's flaws, but this is just......just terrible. This is like a low budget syfy daytime movie. Feyd in this series was nothing compared to Sting as Feyd in the original. Just horrible...

  • Fight was well choreographed but poorly executed. Actors were obviously going soft on eachother.

  • Is this a spoof on Dune?

  • lol im halfway thru book 3..........im so glad i read the books before i seen this feces........the books are so much better......my left nut could produce a better movie...........the books are AWESOME!

  • I really don't like the costume choices or the flat acting by the person playing Paul

  • I know America's standards are in the toilet, and all, but d*mn.

Liking this is taking that to new depths, and swimming amidst the toilet's "coral reefs", as it were.

  • @cosmicrevenger It is shit, but it's not American made.

  • I despised Paul in this version of Dune...he came off so egotistical and self-righteous. Other than Paul, I enjoyed this Dune version as well.

  • @morbius109

That was the most important role though! That's like saying other than the president, you love the current executive branch

  • David Lynch's version was the best, the costumes here are beyond crazy. They should have had David Lynch make the new one again.

  • The fight in the novel is described very differently, more paused, but I guess they had to make it more action based for movie reasons.

  • @zweiosterei I dunno, this captures pretty well how I pictured Paul fighting when he used the Weirding Way.

  • Cousin? I thought he was his uncle.

  • @brocky70 no the Baron was his uncle

  • @OvershadowMind66 no baron was his grandfather. and his mother and feyd were cousins--- So They are first cousins once removed. the removed coming from one generation difference.

  • this is so much worse than lynch's...in fact...it's just worse than most of anything.

  • What was weird was that the director claimed to be a huge fan of the books. Perhaps he was but he wasn't a good director. No one has mentioned how the Emperor looks wrong, he is described as looking mid-30's with red hair in the book. I personally think this is something hollywood should leave alone, two failures to me means they should just give up. Having said that I still kind of enjoyed Children of Dune, but it still doesn't compare to the books.

  • I HAVE A TRIANGLE ON MY BACK!!!

  • @36MonkeysThatFly Seriously. What happened to the black hair, round face. Black tunic above dark trousers.

And that's just Feyd! All in all, I would I have enjoyed this version way better if they had portrayed Paul correctly. Paul is always pouting, scowling and acting like a stuck-up douche. Not only did Kyle MacLaughlin LOOK the part in Lynch's movie, he acted properly too. Paul is a great character: he is angry and tormented but he also smiles and laughs. He feels like a real person.

  • As someone who's read the book serveral times, I'll admit that the miniseries wasn't perfect... but I still enjoy it. It hits on many of my favorite themes from the novels.

It's also a million times better than the David Lynch version. That man completely trashed the book, and turned it into a bizzare, over-the-top parody. I mean... wierding modules, heart plugs, and cat milking? Seriously?

  • @Violetsaber Not to metion it's glacier-like pace, especially when House Atredies leaves Caladan. This series progresses with a good flow of events, and doesn't draw things out.

  • Wow. Pretty camp if you ask me. Did the people making this got drunk and watched reruns of Adam West's Batman while designing the set?

  • Feyd raided Eddie Murphy's wardrobe and when did the Karate Kid become the Pope.

  • I feel like screaming in frustration, but all I can do is sigh over how crap it looks and how crap the acting appears to be after watching the old Dune...... And what a hell is with that Karate Kid thing on his head???

  • I feel like screaming in frustration, but all I can do is sigh over how crap it looks and how crap the acting appears to be after watching the old Dune......

  • Sting should come down from the sky and bitch slap this failed Imposter !

  • @XvxBERSERKxvX impostor

  • I hated to see Feyd get it, he was far more entertaining than the dry and overly philosphical characters that are so numerous throughout this movie. There should have been a director's cut where Feyd kills Paul, claims Chani, and takes over Dune.

  • @nfletch57 Feyd is a narcissist. I'll take philosophy (Paul) over egotistic delusion(Feyd).

  • sieht mann das auch bei der RTL verson (

  • sieht mann das auch bei der RTL verson (dvd)

  • I JUST finished Reading Dune :D

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THE EMPEROR WEARING!!?

  • @nekovelo A dress.

  • @nekovelo I know. In the original movie (and the book) he was only ever seen wearing the uniform of a Sardaukar general (I think term is Burseg?)

  • there was an unnecessary Topless shot for the dvd xD good thing i got it for a dollar :) the movie sucks but it was worth seeing Chani's tits :D best part of the movie :) oh and btw he doesnt use the word..he reveled that he is his cousin...either which dont happen in the book lolz

  • man they dress like fags

  • "I am the emperor"

As if the Daniel Russo sitting on the throne cares. :p

  • I really hated this version of DUNE... it was TERRIBLE!!!!!! FFS if you are going to do an adaptation of something this goddamned epic, it better be a full on production bigger and better than the 1984 version. Fucking wb version... sigh...

  • come on, the fight was so cheesy it was unwatchable. But fans of cheesy soft core 90s gay porn would have a blast.

  • this is a HORRIBLE remake!

  • be honest with yourself Feyd. you wouldnt know what to do with a woman, even if you won her. Ponce.

  • In the distant future, people will wear funny hats.

  • @zecraw and shoulder pads and capes.

  • @zecraw Just look at the funny hats from 100 years ago.

  • Comment removed

  • terrible acting

  • Is it me or does Feyd look hauntingly similar to Daniel tosh o.0

  • And this fight scene is ridiculous

  • And this is Feyd-Rauta? Gosh

  • The 2000 Paul is a worse Paul, but a much better Muad'Dib than the original 1989 version.

  • thumbs up to all who know thisis truly not the epic it should have been. It's like they're acting skills are like ok lets get this over with. This movie should have been like.....gosh i'm about to break my monitor

  • 0:49 - "This ain't Star Wars. Force grip wont work on me." /Paul/

  • JESSICAR VHAT AVE U DUN 2 USS?

  • Let me kill him, it'll be my gift to you

    Priceless!

  • this is the worst fight scene ever

  • SPACE EMO ATTACK! "The guild is too emo, even for you."

Jessica is wearing her 50's macy's parade hat.

  • terrible casting and acting. couldve been so great

  • WTF they made Paul wear an outfit out of the Karate Kid! Hahahaha! So stupid.

  • I do understand that everyone has their own unique vision of how Dune looked in their mind, but this miniseries seriously got it all wrong. Honestly, who was in charge here? Where was the guy in the production team who should have said "um, no that's retarded. Let's not do that."?

They had the resources to make an amazing adaptation but instead they wasted it on this shit.

  • @Behrzad

They are gonna remake it again for the big screen, what do you think? i think both movies failed such as this movie and the David Lynch monstrosity, but Children of Dune was fantastic.

  • @Johnlindsey289

I am extremely excited for the eventual remake. It seems like they have messed up adapting the novel Dune into a full length movie too many times, and for them to mess up again would just be unbelievable. So I'm thinking they have probably seen what works and what doesn't by now, and that means they won't make the same mistakes that were made in these adaptations.

I personally think Lynch's adaptation got the basic feel of the novel, but the overall composition was pretty bad.

  • @Behrzad

I hope the new movie gets 3 parts similar to how Lord of the Rings was and erase the memories of both existing Dune movies and hire a great director like Alfonso Cauron for example or Alex Proyas of Dark City fame. Besides i think Star Wars and James Cameron's Avatar are already the same damn thing as Dune, both Lucas and Cameron are huge fans of the novel and were inspired by it and they have similarities.

  • @Johnlindsey289

I agree, they really shouldn't try to cram the entire novel into a single film. That would require cutting a lot of stuff from the novel, which is difficult because practically the entire novel is important. And you're right, Star Wars and Cameron's Avatar show us how potentially awesome a Dune movie could be if executed properly.

  • @Behrzad I agree-and one thing I had a hard time with..well....Stilgar, both in book and in Lynch's movie; had features of a man that lived in the desert. Hell I'll say it, like Arabic features. Which all Fremen people did. That's what Herbert was going for. In this..Stilgar looks like he's Swedish! A desert person? I don't think so! Just ONE of my qualms.

  • @Behrzad I agree, even Lynch's version had imaginative visual
