  • @ahbying After the Japanese surrendered, they handed Formosa (Taiwan) into KMT control, and thus in control of Nationalist China. When KMT lost mainland China in 1949, they fled to Taiwan, and thus Formosa was China's, but was under Nationalist China's, not Communist China.

  • Comment removed

  • @ahbying Taiwan was part of China in terms that it was under control of a government that represented China. ROC never ceased to officially represent China until the early 1970s, in which their seat was removed, and many countries recognized PRC as the sole legitimate representative of China, which in the 1970s excluded Hong Kong, Macau, and Formosa/Taiwan. Formosa was then known as Taiwan, or officially as the Republic of China, though now commonly known as Taiwan.

  • @xSonntox even though CKS was lucky enough to hold on to a UN seat until Nixon decided to go with Mao, the world knew well before that that china was being run by the CCP.

  • @ahbying Taiwan was under Japanese rule during WW2, then Taiwan was handed over via Americans after Japan's surrender to KMT, which incorporated Formosa into KMT China's jurisdiction. From 1945-1949, Formosa was under Chinese control, and thus a part of China, regardless of it's past. I am speaking of then, not before Japanese rule and 1945. When CKS fled to Taiwan, his government had jurisdiction of Formosa under the name of 'Republic of China', in which his government (KMT)...

  • @ahbying (cont..) still had jurisdiction over the whole of China, despite of the establishment of the Communist China. Communist China was regarded by the world as an ilegitement representitive of China, and was regarded as a simply rebel group that took over parts of China. In 1971, the UN Resolution 2758 expelled CKS and his government in representing China in the UN, meaning that his government no longer represents 'China' despite their name being the 'Republic of China'...

  • @ahbying And thus, splitting off of China and at the same time, not splitting off from China. I personally see Taiwan as it's own country, and I no longer support KMT in Taiwan as they seek for a 'reunification', which is unfair for Taiwanese. The previous comments were me arguing simply that Taiwan, (within 1945-1949) was under Chinese rule, and thus was incorporated into, geographically speaking, China, as Taiwan was ruled by a government that legitimately represented all of China.

  • @xSonntox the problem is that after WW2, the US had no legal right to hand Taiwan over to china. Taiwan's status should have been for the Taiwanese to decide. Also, between 1945-1949, taiwan was hardly "under control" by the KMT. 228 and the White Terror are clearly not examples of legitimate rule or control.

either way, you have your opinion and i have mine. i'm not going to change your mind and you definitely aren't going to change mine. to each his own...

  • @ahbying It is legitimate, regardless of those horrible events... And yes, the Americans had no right, but it is the same with Hong Kong. Hong Kong never had the chance for decolonization like the rest of the British colonies. And British signed the Sino-British Joint Declaration to Hand over Hong Kong without consent of Hong Kong population. What's done is done, and we have to fix it ourselves.

  • @xSonntox i personally find it problematic comparing HK to Taiwan as HK is just a city, while Taiwan is a country. Taiwanese people did not see KMT rule as legitimate, plain and simple. Taiwan has become a fully independent country because of the Taiwanese people, NOT the KMT.

Hopefully HK will be able to get out from CCP control one day. Actually, all of China needs to be rid of the CCP.

  • @ahbying Well, regardless of what status both is (country or city), both is subjected to undemocratic changes in governments, Hong Kong with British handover to Chinese rule, and Taiwan with.. it's status quo. I do not believe in a unified China either, because modern-day one-China, means one culture, and that means eradicating others, such as Cantonese (and Taiwanese), and I am 200% against it.

  • @ahbying I hope the DPP defeats KMT, because KMT is not a great government anymore, it's not longer anti-China but more-or-less pro-China. Hong Kong is starting to be more anti-China as well, but by 'Hong Kong', I mean Hong Kongers, not the government. The Government will shine the shoes of Beijing no matter what... Those traitors.. 死狗宮

  • @ahbying At least Taiwan has much more indpendence and closer to independence from China than Hong Kong.. At least Taiwan has their own army, and pact with USA. HK's closest thing to an army is HKPF, and they obey the corrupt HKSAR government. I see Taiwan as an independent country, but under KMT leadership, I see Taiwan as wanting to be apart of China. Under DPP, I see Taiwan as progressing towards independence, freedom, and democracy.

  • @ahbying Wrong. 'Nationalist China' jurisdiction covered Formosa, therefore, moving there is a simply act of re-locating the central government. They fled from Mainland China, which is a simple geographical term. They cease to represent China, but they still represent the grounds on which their government still holds jurisdiction over - Formosa/Taiwan.

  • @xSonntox Wrong.

  • @xSonntox Taiwan was full of Taiwanese before the KMT ever came here and killed tens of thousands and imprisoned countless more. We have our own history which is independent of what happened in china and is happening now. Taiwan is Taiwan and China is China...very simple.

  • All high level defends to be prepare against US Carriers.

  • China is merely testing this before they sell these missles to North Korea and Iran.

  • Greedy Chinese scum why can they just leave little tiny helpless Tiawan alone......Do they want a war with the U.S ??????

  • @goldsilverandiamonds why can't the US leave the world alone? afaik red china doesn't have military bases and wars in central america...

  • @DREwestcoast At least the U.S. helps or has helped the majority of the world. China just wants to fuck up the enviroment and shit on its neighbors.

  • @goldsilverandiamonds if being on the receiving hand of 2000 pound bombs is your idea of being ''helped'', I think we're at a disagreement here... interestingly enough a majority of US mulit-nationals have profited off of legislation in the US to bankrupt competition there while moving their bases in China, so let's not get crazy with the simplistic environment arguments..

  • @D You must mean the receiving end of billions in health, emergency, medical, military and forgien aid for most of the world at one time or another. For example bailing out Russian in the 90's we forgave them over 24 billion plus interest or rebuilding Japan, Germany, France, China after WWII, or rebuliding Haiti and spending billions in Haiti the list is endless. No one gives more then the U.S. China is greedy and is destroying this planet while poisoning the people of the world.

  • @goldsilverandiamonds I don't deny there were improvements made through U.S aid, but let's face it, most of the aid was basically flushing down money by giving them to western-backed dictators in order to keep their bureaucrats in line with U.S interests, while these dictators did nothing for the actual people, sometimes even to the extent of propping up a dictator and end up invading the country, and the US also defaulted many times throughout history.

  • @DREwestcoast No country can compare to the U.S. in its compassion and giving. Sure we may have proped up some countries and leaders to maintain strategic alliances but ever country does this and this should not be confused with the massive support the U.S. has given others out of sheer goodwill.

  • @goldsilverandiamonds that may have been true at some points in time, but as it stands now I can't accept the argument that the US gov is truly acting in representation of their people, my 'ennemy' is not the US population, but the media and war profiteers that have hijacked their minds and their freedoms, but you probably still think there's no problem with eroding freedoms in America do you?

  • @DREwestcoast Yes their is an eroding problem of freedoms mostly by the liberal left and their pro socialist / communist agenda. But most of the world would still love to live in the U.S. because of its freedoms, standard of living and the ability to make a great life for yourself if you choose to. China and Europe do not allow the vast majority of its people the oppertunities the U.S. does. China now is being reckless with its power over its neighbors and citizens.

  • @goldsilverandiamonds that's half true, sure the social-justice wackos who want to collectivize wealth have done damage, but the neo-conservative faction has done probably just as much damage through interventionism and illegal wars, the only difference between the two is how they get to steal the productive monies of the people.

  • @DREwestcoast The liberal left in the U.S. have dragged the U.S. into most of the largest and bloodiest wars and conflicts in U.S. history not the conservatives. WWI, WWII, KOREAN, VIETNAM were all done at the hands of liberal presidents. NATO and other groups that you claim intervene all have liberal beginings.Still the U.S. has nowhere near the blood on its hands as China, Russia, and most of Europe. The U.S. is not perfect but far better then most countries in the world.

  • @goldsilverandiamonds you're trying to mold a definition and have me fit into it, I do not support the vietnam or korean war, for the two others they're a bit more complexed but still needless when you get down to the principles involved, the elite that's crept and taken over the US power levers in combination with dominating the medias is at fault here, not most of the people themselves..

  • @DREwestcoast You're making a fallacious argument. Two wrong don't make a right. The lesser of two evils is still evil. If Taiwanese people don't want to be subject to the rule of the Chinese Communist Regime, why should they be forced to?

  • @SunBeamsan They shouldn't, I'm not picking a side here, but who's to say that X Y and Z countries have any obligation to risk their citizen's lives to get involved in foreign disputes...?

  • @DREwestcoast yet

  • @A1R5N1P3R yeah right... 46% to 6% of the world's military budget in terms of US vs China comparison, so it's just not happening..

  • @DREwestcoast Do you understand how the world works? South asia is like our south america, and China is all over it, give them time, they'll be in south amrica too.

  • @A1R5N1P3R Lol, yeah, they're on the brink of bombing mexico.. what a farce..

  • @DREwestcoast Did I say that? You're definitely a moron. China could have military bases in areas where it has large investments, and treaties, just as the USA does. You have such a limited grasp of the world, perfect example of our school system failing to educate.

  • @A1R5N1P3R yeah, but they're not doing it, you fucking half-wit, the only thing limited here is your ability to come up with meaningful points in a discussion you fucking triflick, go show some love to the disgusting neo-cons who've taken over your country and are about to rape you politically and financially, you're a glittering jewel of incalculable ignorance, sir, you should use your 2nd amendment to terminate yourself, faggot.

  • @DREwestcoast Your name is DREwestcoast, yet you name your home as the windy city (chicago) you do nothing but talk misinformed shit, and you call me ignorant? Cry more over the USA owning south america. You need to man up.

  • @A1R5N1P3R Lol, thanks for proving my previous points by attacking my internet username and location... I'm sure people have enough discernment to realize how mentally challenged you indeed are..
