  • those people....?WTF???

  • the only problem I had with racist scriptures is that no one would speak against then. there are racist doctrines in Catholicism and racist interpretations in other denominations. My problem is that no LDS church member would condem these teachings. I just wanted someone to acknowledge it was wrong. You are only person i have heard say this.I applaud you for your honesty and bravery sir. God Bless

  • Lol, "comfortably reject the racist teachings of our past without losing their overall faith." WHY WOULD ANY "TOTALLY NOT RACIST" PERSON STAND BEHIND A RELIGION WHICH WAS FOUNDED ON RACISM?????? Oh. They wouldn't! You're racist!FEEL BAD ABOUT IT! You just acknowledged and condoned racism in people "of their time;" well you know what, fool? THAT'S CALLED ADVOCATING AND PERPETUATING RACISM. Just because you show me pictures of yourself with black people doesn't mean you're not an unashamed racist.

  • @edgeofthewoods

They wouldn't. You are just wrong on Mormonism. We are most often criticized for saying things such as "Man and God are of the same race". After this, anything said about the various branches of the human family are incidental.

  • @incrediblejourney

Have you actually read early Mormon texts??

  • modern Mormonism= subtle white supremacy,,,,fact!

  • @AntonTheSpot

Judging by this video, though, we can conclude that there's nothing subtle about it! These people are proud racists. How repulsive.

  • The bottom line is that Mormon doctrine (Book of Abraham) indicates that moral and intellectual inequality existed in the pre-Mortal existence. Ergo, moral and intellectual inequality can not be the result of genes, biology, or race. Mormonism was antithetical to racism at the beginning when it really counted. Hitler wasn't inspired by the idea that bad behavior in ancient times brought about racial differences. He was a biological determinist; the antithesis of what Mormons are criticized for.

  • what the fuck? "products of their time", so he's justifying their actions? wow, talk about a racist in denial. FACT: everyone is a RACIST. come on seriously...lol

  • of men who were in your view, PROPHETS. Gives a sickening thought to that word...

  • When I come in contact with a racist, I swiftly kick them in the nuts.

I've been doing a lot of kicking lately.

  • So if God is infalible and never wrong, how do you justify the original D&C of pologiomy as given by Joseph Smith(and practiced as well). Then a mandate, not a removal, by the phrophet stating that God said it is wrong?

So if 1+2=3. 1)God said its law and put in the mormon D&C that pologomy is his law. And 2)God sees he is wrong but only has his phrophet set a mandate to change his law. Then 3)God is falible and wrong?

  • I'm a Mormon, and I can add my own testimony and experience that we believe, strongly and firmly, that no race, ethnicity or people are superior one to another. We believe the scriptures which say that God is no respecter of persons. That is, He treats and loves all equally, whether they be black or white, male or female, etc. Sadly some of my fellow Mormons have said that the blacks were cursed with dark skin. This is not true. Instead it is a misunderstanding of the Scriptures.

  • @fubecafy ... Please do not be deceived by false reports, or even misguided Mormons. Even some of our leaders have erred - but no man is completely infallible. The fundamental doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints can be summed up in the following saying of the Lord: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind...Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

  • @Cheshu1 Do a fact check. Lincoln was in fact a racist and did in fact believe blacks to be a lower species than whites. Read "The Lincoln-Douglas Debates," Lincoln is not the hero he is entirely made out to be. He did have many respectably traits though

  • This guy is really an anti-Mormon who is posing as a Mormon if you want to know about Mormons go to LDS.org

  • It would be the same as calling all Christian murders because of what some of them once did in the holy land...

  • @ldgarland405

a membership in The mormon Church do not require payment, We think however that we will be blessed if we pay a tenth of our income.

And to all other that think that the doctrines of the church is rasist...how do you mean? I've been a member since I were a child, and I havnt found any racist doctrines in the church..may be so that some members are racists, But doesnt mean that the church is racists.

  • A man has 3 sons. The oldest is caught trying to steal the family car. The father bans him from driving priviliges until a time that hes sees fit. Are the other sons prejudice for not handing the keys to the first son and encouraging him to drive?

  • See the real history of RACISM in the Mormon Church in this book. Mormon's history of racism is horrific! Go to chapter 5.

    In the book,

Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters? The Mormon Church Versus The Office Of The Presidency of the United States of America,

Get the book and Barns & Noble

  • I guess as a black person I have permission to hate...everyone

  • u watchin ancient aliens apparently joseph smith was visited by ALIENS :O

  • @ 2:52 Fuck You!

  • Mormonism makes the differences between Catholics, Protestants and Orthodoxs (all genuine religions and none is cult) negligible.

  • To me the best quote is that "these men are ordaned as phrophets..." My girlfriend is Mormon and even though I myself dont believe in this "religion" I try to keep an open mind. But when comments like this are made. Well the proof is in the puddin. This is an organization run by men to gain welth and power. They do it through deciept and brainwashing of the voulnerable to try to increase their ranks.

  • @ldgarland405 What wealth and power are you refering to? None of the church leaders are paid.

  • @Criterionx1 it is not the men acting as phrophits that get the money but the cult itself. then it uses this money to propogate lies to keep the membership from questioning the leadership.

  • @ldgarland405 To what end?

  • @Criterionx1 to the end that people are brainwashed to continue giving money to the cult just so they can go to the temple. Do you know of another christian organization that requires a payment to go be with god?

  • @ldgarland405

    Scientology

  • @soccerez1999 Retard

  • @ldgarland405 Don't try to answer peoples questions if you are completely ignorant of the truth

  • @ldgarland405 Actually Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are strongly encouraged not to take the truth at anyone's word - even from our leaders. Instead we are encouraged to study and ponder over the scriptures, to pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ, and to inquire for ourselves as to whether or not a thing is true. If we do not believe in the core doctrines of our faith we are free, at any time, to depart from it. We value individual agency not ignorant submission.

  • @fubecafy Well said! Antimormons need to hear statements like that more often.

  • @fubecafy Thats not entirely true is it lol You are taught that the prophet speaks for God and whatever the prophet commands is Gods commands.

  • @liamlloyd77 It is a strange thing to me that you seek to correct me on my own beliefs.

  • @fubecafy I didnt try to correct anything of what you believe. I merely corrected you on what the church teaches, and that is that the prophet talks for God. The prophet is Gods "mouthpiece" apparently. Unless you also believe God is capable of lying, you are taught to believe anything the prophet says as truth and Gods word

  • @fubecafy that is, you assume your doctrines are true, which is contradictory then when you go to BYU you are encouraged to follow the brethren and not question, they make you and antimormon in BYU

  • @fubecafy I agree with much of what you say, but....if you don't come to the same answer, then you didn't do it right...right?

So it seems you have a duplicity in what is encouraged.

That also brings up the question of, how do you know when you get your answer?

  • This guy is so confused. Religion will do that to you, I guess.

  • Lol. Black people.

  • Best quote from this video - "I'm the last person in the world to be racist, but after working in the retail industry, between you and me, seeing how dishonest and immoral and just plain unsanitary these people can be at times...."

Is this fella serious? I would start ranting more, but I think the quote speaks for itself.

  • Comment removed

  • a well-intentioned explanation; thanks.

  • Next to the KKK, these robots were the most damaging force to fuel the terrorism imposed on black people. They actually continued for more than a decade after the civil rights movement. "The blacks" huh? We are bigger than them because we do not generalize and call all white people weird and psychotic based on the actions of this cult minority. Stay blessed.

  • @ghetto4na I gotta say that by trying to turn this into a defense against 'sounding' racist makes you sound bigoted. then add in the fact that you attribute this non-racism to the 'we' as a generalization for some group that you profess to belong to and you've stepped INTO the realm of racism... Should I even MENTION that you said that your group is 'bigger than them?' how is this okay in society still? EITHER side of the coin it's STILL just so very wrong...

  • @LUchesi what in God's name are you rambling on about? Slavery and racism DID and still DO occur even though it was abolished (legally), in fact in this case it took them another decade and some change to do so (1978). "We (those who do not generalize) are bigger than them (those who do)", is that enough clarification for you? And if you are a mormon, please explain your "cain curse" nonsense to me. We Africans (which I am) have our own beliefs about the curse of violence in Europeans.

  • @ghetto4na NO that is NOT an acceptable response, you specifically mentioned that you don't generalize about white people. WHICH IS A GENERALIZATION to imply that white people do. No, I am not a mormon and I am not trying to start a discussion or an argument because I think that there is nothing to debate in what I brought up. Either you're holding people to double standards or not, I am merely pointing out that it's foolish and offensive.

  • Mormans have no idea of what jesus did,, jesus loved everyone, so racist. racist. 'the blacks' wow, thought someone with beliefs of god would be nice. so frustrated right now.

  • @LewiLewi123 you don't know mormons. these videos are lies. mormons do belive in being like christ. and loving all people whether its race. black, mexican, white or religon, mormon or non-mormon. or anything eles you can think of. don't let these anti-mormon videos mislead you. real mormons are not racist

  • @hett22 no there not true mormons belive in treating EVERYONE with love and respect. like jesus would. if you do find racsit mormons there not very good at being mormon. (unless there "F lds" mormons wich are different then normal mormons)

  • mormons are NOT racsit

  • @chadro85 If somebody considers Brigham Young as a great spiritual leader, than yes absolutely that would make somebody racist.

  • @ladyintheradiator187 dude that was back in the 1800's i'm talking about them in present times. (and besides apart from blacks them selfs. just about everbody in the south was racist back then. slaves etc.)

  • i admire your courage but, it's too late :) love and light to you and yours!

  • The whole human race began in Africa. So the mormon 'word of god' cannot be from a god at all because a God would not get it wrong for so long. Gods are perfect and their words never changes to suit the trends of man. The Mormon God was and is a racist.

  • @Cheshu1

No really Italians are from Nigeria and Ethiopians are also pretty much just another pocket of them that's what the whole fleeing from Egypt Hebrew thing was about, it happened a lot for the same reason melanized Asians or Persian kings as they are called in the bible losing their collective stuff and going on rampages that involved cannibalism rape and genocide, the Ars pacis was created in Rome, to symbolize the peace that reigned afterwards the alter of peace as it is called...

  • @Cheshu1

If you actually read most modern bibles that are produced by responsible theologian's, on either the top of the passage on the side or on the bottom it will state it is "assumed" that depicted event from apocrypha happened between xxxx either A.D. or B.C.

And most of the "books" and passages are from cultures and society's that were assumed to exist, but the whole point of theology is to examine race and culture through myth religion and "ART" fiction writing is a form of ART.

  • christianity is a white mans religion spread the word peace

  • @Cheshu1

The main thing is that in the time period that the bible was based on say 6015-6020 years ago there were more cultures living in Africa than black or dark-skinned Africans...

So sometimes when they refer to say an Ethiopian culture or people it may not really mean "Blacks".

And the person that was a eunuch was probably a Persian Qiang or a Zoroastrian like Nebuchadnezzar of the golden statue part of the bible...

The king James bible and hairspray drinking probably are not a good mix...

  • @Cheshu1 I know right and one thing that pisses me off is to see that there are black moromons out there that dont know the truth about how sinful mormonism really is

  • Comment removed

  • @Cheshu1 Moses’ wife Zipporah was black since she was a Cushite (Numbers 12:1). Cush is an ancient name for an area of Africa. Some propose that Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11:3) was black. the Queen of Sheba who visited Solomon (1 Kings 10:1) was black. Now Moses being a prophet of the bible who has a wife that was black means that either Moses was completely bonkers and by your racist standards was into Beastiality thus you should disregard anything he said which includes the Ten comandments..........

  • i love barak obama and so does johova god he is in in jesus favor.the lord will bless him more than he already is amen.

  • well "they" as a general descriptive as a group only describes their faith, so if you were talking about them in a singular manner, not all share the complete faith...

They accept that all that accept their faith...

And faith is a system of beliefs and behavior that describe their internal culture, the thing that separates them from most christian faiths is blue-laws and as an American populace group they "had" to be racist to survive during that time, but not all are racist...

  • @JonesArmandoHoward I meant to say all that accept their faith, which generally seems to be christian or human brotherhood on planet earth, race is singular to the individual and personal faith is individual in nature and organized religion is practiced as a community group, so it depends on the community, some practice slight differences based on the unique character of their family and house hold...

  • Mormonism is a disease

  • glad I resigned from the church

  • @Cheshu1 They rose up against the bigotry of Christians. The mormons didn't take much longer than any other Christians concerning bigotry, so why on earth would you even dream that the mainstream christian god was better than the mormon christian god?

  • We're done. I can't hold a conversation with one so filled with hatred and bias that he can't even reason without making false accusations. Have a nice life.

  • So this tradition of Protestantism, responsible for millions of murders, slavery itself, driving the Mormons out of house and home for years, raping their women, the Civil War and so on and so on - this is the spiritual tradition we are supposed to embrace? I don't think so.

  • @Cheshu1 Why not start with your own tradition of bigotry (far worse than anything the Mormons said) and then we can talk. You guys are responsible for the murder of hundreds of thousands of Native Americans, slavery itself, Manifest Destiny, etc. Ever hear of the Red Holocaust? You should have. Protestants and Catholics were equally responsible. Yet you come here with your holier than thou approach because a few Mormons said things that were genuinely racist. Get over yourself.

  • @Cheshu1 There's a huge difference. First, one of the two of us is still filled with hate - and it's not me. Second, your own tradition was 1000x worse - 10,000x worse than anything the Mormons ever did. In fact, one of the primary reasons the LDS were expelled from Missiouri was Southerners recognized they would not support their positions (as a whole) on slavery. Meanwhile, certain Protestant groups were leading the charge. Many of the slave owners and even some of the traders were Protestants

  • Man there's a lot of misinformation and crap out there about who said what. People, just go to the source. Don't ask a Democrat to tell you what a Republican believes. And don't ask a Mormon hater to tell you what Mormons believe.

  • Actually, Joseph Smith housed a black family at his own expense, shared the priesthood and all of the blessings of the gospel. Brigham Young definitely had some racist tendencies and beliefs. But Brigham was a product of his culture and time. He was not perfect and held personal views. At the same time he denied blacks the priesthood, the forefathers of our Protestant friends had them as slaves or belonged to the KKK. Now they approach us in their holier than thou posture and demand an answer.

  • Marie Osmond blocked someone on Twitter when they asked if she had any Girlfriends other than white ones. What kinda crap is that? Can we say "RACIST?"

  • Bologna from Maroni Doctrines of demons Lies Where is this new book you Mormons claim to have received from him? Lost it? Buried it? Hid it away? Lies Any group claiming to have the truth, be the truth yet Lies about their own holy book is no group to be involved in. This book has never been seen, never documented, no pics of it. Never made available for scrutiny. Dont Let It Shine should be their ceremonial song. Mormonism teaches Satan is good and we become like God, sound familiar? RUN!

  • Brother, you did very well!!!

  • Am I the only person that heard him call black people unsanity?

  • @Luis568369 And you know that..how? Because a Youtube video told you? Im a mormon and we aren't racist..Mormons are friends with all races. Im a mormon and have plenty of african-american friends that are truelly some of the greatest people i've met. They don't ever lie to me, steal from me, or spit curses at me. Unlike people on youtube who continue to preach lies to others. If you say people are crazy. Than that is judging and you are being influenced by the devil. Judging anyone is wrong.

  • As a former Mormon, now a born again Christian John 3. I do have to say that this is a very good video. I wish the Mormon leaders could be as honest. I could not remain in a church that claims to be true, but has taught and continues to teach so many lies, but I am glad to see a video that approaches Mormon history truthfully.

  • ok i now hate all Mormons suck on some donkey dick

  • all mormons are racist

  • MORMON'S ARE FUCKING CRAZY JUST LIKE ALL RELIGON'S

  • MORMON'S ARE FUCKING CRAZY JUST LIKE ALL RELIGON'S

  • What are you people talking about??? THE CHURCH IS THE FIRST CHURCH IN JOSEPH SMITH'S TIME TO ACTUALLY BAPTIZE AN AFRICAN AMERICAN. ELIJAH ABEL WAS THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN TO BE BAPTIZED INTO THE CHURCH. The only thing that was denied of them was the priesthood! They weren't denied as people, or as members, only in the priesthood! It is because of their ancestry, it has nothing to do with color or race! God loves all of us! It sounds bad, but it's just by ancestry! ANCESTRY NOT COLOR OR RACE

  • excellent video!

  • This video is a disgrace and the person who shared it is obviously fulfilling an agenda. Much like Satan, he takes a grain of truth and distorts it as if it is representative of the entire church. Are there racists in the LDS Church of 14+ Million people? Statistically it would almost be impossible not to have a racist or two or 1000 in a group that large. He shares one story of one missionary and a few quotes taken out of context. This is soft-anti Mormon propaganda cloaked as truth.

  • Thankyou for showing me the love of Jesus Christ. I can feel your love and compassion oozing through the internet now! I never asked for your answer anyway. Blacks are not blessed - take a look around you; swarming into Europe and the US and other white nations for a BETTER future, yeh thats right, white people are evil! You dont know what a fascist is. Sad

  • rulerwithcounsel - your an idiot! typical stormfront "ideology", blame the jews. Please don't claim you are a Christian, because you have sorely missed it big time. Like I stated before, your religion is Fascism and your doctrine is inbred, hokey, trailer trash nonsense. You need to offload this stronghold and get the Light of God through Jesus Christ in you, repent of all these lies and give your life over to Him, yes He was Jewish, but get passed that!

  • I am soon leaving on an LDS mission to Zimbabwe. I cannot wait to share the gospel with such a wonderful and deserving people. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • Brigham Young is clear: Mormonism is a demon cult. It is well evidenced as anti-black, anti-gay, anti-intellectual, anti-monogamy.

  • They are bold demon liars. They are trying to revisionistically portray themselves as pro-black, they are liars. I grieve any black schmuck that will ever be a part of this satanist cult.

  • didnt jesus join the priest hood of melchizedek in the book of hebrews? wasnt jesus "brownskin with whooley hair?" ...anyone?

  • @gritstube I really don't know where you got that description because nobody alive today has seen him.But anyway those who can hold the Melchizedek Priesthood were Jews. And maybe you don't know Jesus is a jew.

  • @edlao03 ,read hebrews 7:11-13 it explains no man(human) as ever attended the altar of that priest hood niether isrealite or ishmaelite(no man)... & as far as his description... if u dont use the bible 2 describe him then dont use the book at all &.. if he "WAS" jewish he wouldnt have assisted in the changing of the Levitical law yep the same law jewish follow today =/

  • @gritstube I am not going into a scriptural debate with you.You obviously studied the bible well. But we interpret it differently. What's just gonna happen is you will give your interpretation and i will give mine and neither of us will accept anything the other will say.So I will leave you to your faith and I hope that people will just let others to excercise their faith also.I believe that if a person is truly convinced that he is right, he doesn't have to prove others are wrong.

  • @Cheshu1 Quite right, but you conveniently miss the jewish financiers hand behind all the wars. Jews, some are white, but they use their host nations (UK, USA. Europe) for their subversive destructive policies: multiculturalism, race-mixing, homosexuality and they control world finances, most media and mainstream 'entertainment'. Dont discredit Germans, theyre not stupid, Hitler was an Austrian. Stalin, Trotsky, Marx - all jews.

  • During long time black people prohibit in the mormons church and Joseph Smith was polygame

  • if tell a small child that big foot is his great great grandfather he will grow believing it all his life.

  • Im not a Mormon, but of this Im sure, the White race is blessed, the blacks cant say that. The Patriarchs had more than one wife and were not critised by YHWH for it, however the better way is tyified in the garden of eden. As for mixing the blood of whites with blacks is an abomination. No bastard (mamzer) will enter the congregation of the Lord. Black real native religion is Voodoo anyway, and are inherently a cursed people. Look at Africa today, TODAY

  • @rulerwithcounsel Your religion is Fascist and all Fascists will burn in Hell. Turn from your evil ways to the Lord Jesus Christ, who will open your dead eyes to the truth based on Love and Forgiveness and because I will not give time to answer your ridiculous, ignorant, unintelligent "facts"!! Sorry but if your an example of the master race, your gonna be extinct!

  • all you religious nuts are fucked up

  • I think you messed up in the middle somewhere because it sounded to me like YOU were saying those things about Blacks, not the kid, and you didn't call it out as "ignorantly said" or something, you just said it like it was a valid belief.

The reason this is a mistake is because on the internet and youtube, people are very quick to judge and are very often unwilling to make it to the end of the video. I think 500 or so people hit "dislike" as soon as they heard that statement.

  • I though Adam & Eve were black.

Weren't they? I though it was also proven by science that all people originate from africa.

  • @universomich the great creator taught that when you treat others with kindness, you need not fear----History has taught us Native Americans, that's not always the case. Most early English colonies owe their existence to Native charity and got repaid with the Mystic massacre.

  • And the fact that they expressed many views for the blacks and against slavery should be taken into consideration in order to make a righteous judgement. You want to focus on what justifies your beliefs and hatred rather than looking at the whole picture and trying to form an honest and accurate opinion.

  • @Cheshu1 The word nigger didn't become a pejoritive term until well after Smith and Young were dead they used it to discribe a group of people not to be insulting. As to your first quote I did answer to it. I answered that you did not include the complete quote but only the portion you want to focus on. I cannot comment on what another person said without knowing the context or why they were saying it and neither can you accurately judge what they are meaning or what is in their heart.

  • On February 7, 1844, Joseph Smith wrote his views as a candidate for president of the United States. The anti-slavery plank of his platform called for a gradual end to slavery by the year 1850

  • Smith made known his strong anti-slavery position. In March 1842 , he stated, "it makes my blood boil within me to reflect upon the injustice, cruelty, and oppression of the rulers of the people When will these things cease to be, and the Constitution and the laws again bear rule?" (History of the Church, 4:544).

  • Joseph Smith made known his increasingly strong anti-slavery position. In March 1842 , he stated, "it makes my blood boil within me to reflect upon the injustice, cruelty, and oppression of the rulers of the people. When will these things cease to be, and the Constitution and the laws again bear rule?" (History of the Church, 4:544).

  • Again with the evil and again with ignoring my posts. I posted way back that that is how Brigham Young interpreted the scriptures. I can not speak totally to why he said what he did and it sounds NOTHING LIKE THE KKK!!!! Mormons didn't kill or beat blacks. Brigham young passed laws that slaves should be educated and if they were mistreated they were to be set free. I have not distorted truth, you have. Mormons don't have hate in their hearts which is more than I can say for you.

  • I have NEVER once said that all blacks were given the priesthood before 1978. Making a statement from how you interpret the bible or not giving blacks the priesthood is a far cry from killing them and the other horrific things the KKK did. You can continue to call a total stranger whom you know nothing about evil, you can refute every word I have posted but it doesn't make them less true. You are determined to believe what you want to believe and I am done!

  • @Cheshu Clearly you don't read the posts well because I already pointed out in a previous post that during the time of JS a black man was given a very high position in the church (a seventy) And there are black bishops and stake presidents, and high councilmen etc today. Comparing mormons to the kkk is laughable. Women still don't have the priesthood today so what? Mormons never acted towards blacks the way the kkk or others did. We didn't have seperate pews for them to sit in, we didn't

  • I never denied or tried to escape that the blacks couldn't hold the priesthood I just pointed out how things are now. And that the black members don't seem to harp on it the way you do. I also pointed out that mormons weren't the only ones to make that interpretation from the bible. You can deflect from the truths I pointed out all you want, you can hate mormons and bash them and make it seem like mormons are the only religion to have things in their past but you and I know better.

  • @Cheshu1 I'm glad you can research because that means U can find out that blacks joined the church at the time of JS and BY and you can know that a black man, was ordained a member of the seventy (a high position in the church) in 1836. And why do blacks join the church today and back then knowing full well about the history of the church? I acknowledged that there were and probably still are individuals who are racist but I myself have never met a racist mormon nor am I one!

  • @cheshu" He seems to forget that the American Civil War was fought and that ending slavery was one of its results." Slavery ended but prejudice and racism did not. It is ok for you to point out the faults of the mormons but if I point out what Christians did (kkk) I am deflecting and evil. That is exactly what you did. JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED. All religions have things in their past history so does that mean they are all evil and untrue? Why do you only focus on the "faults" of the LDS?

  • "In the book of Genesis, Noah condemns Ham and his descendents to perpetual servitude: "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers" (Gn 9:25). T. David Curp notes that this episode has been used to justify racialized slavery, since "CHRISTIANS and even some Muslims eventually identified Ham's descendents as black Africans"." Prophets in the bible were swayed by there own thinking just as modern day prophets can be. Not saying that that is what happened just possible.

  • Some members of fringe Christian groups like the Christian Identity movement, and the Ku Klux Klan, and Christian Reconstructionists still argue that slavery is justified by Christian doctrine today.

Mormons didn't keep blacks out of the church and they didn't start groups like the KKK. Mormon leaders referenced the bible and their beliefs were swayed by it just as other christians were. They denied the blacks the priesthood for a time for whatever reason. Women will never have it, so?

  • " Every hope of the existence of church and state, and of civilization itself, hangs upon our arduous effort to defeat the doctrine of Negro suffrage" - Robert Dabney, a prominent 19th century Southern Presbyterian pastor..." the right of holding slaves is clearly established in the Holy Scriptures, both by precept and example" - Richard Furman, President, South Carolina Baptist Convention

  • In both Europe and the United States many Christians went further, arguing that slavery was actually justified by the words and doctrines of the Bible."Slavery was established by decree of Almighty God...it is sanctioned in the Bible, in both Testaments, from Genesis to Revelation...it has existed in all ages, has been found among the people of the highest civilization, and in nations of the highest proficiency in the arts" - Jefferson Davis, President, Confederate States of America

  • When abolition was proposed, many Christians spoke vociferously against it, citing the Bible's acceptance of slavery as 'proof' that it was part of the normal condition. George Whitefield, famed for his sparking of the so-called Great Awakening of American evangelicalism, campaigned, in the Province of Georgia, for the legalisation of slavery; slavery had been outlawed in Georgia, but it was legalised in 1751 due in large part to Whitefield's efforts

  • FYI I have lived in highly populated mormon places most my life so that is a lot of mormons I have known and not one a racist. And we have black members in my ward and they are all very much aware of what the church policy was back in the day.

  • And do you even know what prophecy was made regarding "your people"? Joseph Smith was not a racist and neither are the majority of mormons I know what I have been taught, what I have heard, and what I have experienced and racism in the church has never fallen into any of those categories.

  • I don't doubt that there were SOME racist members of the church back at that time or even now. But as a member for 40 years I have NEVER met a racist mormon or heard anyone preach that other races are inferior or of less value.

  • @Cheshu1 Not even the prophets of old were perfect and some allowed there own feelings to get in the way. Ever heard of Jonah? Ninevah repented and he still sat on the hill demanding and waiting for the Lord to destroy them. Men are called to fulfill God's purposes but that doesn't make them perfect. And if the Lord inspired them to withhold the priesthood from the blacks for a time there may have been a good reason for it and it doesn't make them racist.

  • I am a Mormon. I cant explain why ther are white men, brown men and black men. INstead of fighting over what our leaders said or did in the past and making us all out to be racists, why not look at where we are NOW, in 2011. The Church is the fast growing in Africa. In Brazil. We are all Gods Children and ALL have access to His word, His Temples and His Priethood. STOP hating and preach love and unity! We are not racists. I speak 4 launguages and LOVE all Gods children on this earth. Im a MORMON

  • @TheTine123 Catholic Churches have been ordaining blacks and welcoming them for well over a thousand years. Check out the history of St Martin de Porres.

  • @Cheshu1 Pardon me, but the seed of Cain died in the flood. Seem to me these people were looking for an excuse to hate, which is why I can hardly call them Christians.

  • Rather interesting considering the Mormons, Hidden esoteric history, as well as the name is steeped in stolen Moorish Science. Prepare for the Rise of The Original Moor

  • @Cheshu1 just wondering

  • @Cheshu1 i agree but isn't bigots spelled like biggots

  • I've been a member for 40 years and never heard a single racist remark in any meeting or from any member in all those years. Mormons teach that all people are children of God and that all are of infinite worth. Mormons stood against slavery and were persecuted for it. Joseph Smith had many close black friends, blacks were baptized into the church from day one.

  • @peaceliberty4all The explain why your Joseph Smith dismissed my ancestors and said they had dark skin because they were evil? I'm Akwasasne Kinnewki.

  • @Eagle027 Please tell me where I can find any quote BY Joseph Smith that said what you are saying he said.

  • @peaceliberty4all Obviously you know nothing about LDS, who were the Lamanites, and what did Smith says about them?

  • @Eagle027 I've been LDS my whole life. Lamanites are ancestors of the American Indians. If you are referring to what it says in the BOM. First of all those aren't Joseph Smith's words and secondly it might be a good idea for you to read the whole book as it says much more about them that what you have referrenced. Just because 2 people and their families were cursed with a darker skin because of their wickedness does not imply that the whole race is evil.

  • @peaceliberty4all First of all we NATIVE AMERICANS were on this continent over six thousand years before the birth of Abraham. Don't call us Indians, we don't come from India or western Asia, we are not Semites. Kindly leave us out of your fairy tales. Hill Cumorah sits on land belonging to the Haudenosaunee people.

  • @Eagle027 Seriously, I did not mean to offend that is the name I heard used (on T.V) my whole life and I am not really in to the whole politically correct crap. So when quickly typing my response that is what I used. I don't have a single racist bone in my body. If you want to disect my every word be my guest. @Cheshu you spread lies, never has it been taught by mormons that Native Americans were evil in the past life and it doesn't say that in the BOM either.

  • @peaceliberty4all Cut the bullshit. You people have known for hundreds of the years we didn't come from India. Its a racists term to deny reality, our Culture, Language and Religions (which have nothing to do with Mormons) are NATIVE to this continent. Its not politically correct, its being honest to a known reality.

  • "when i heard this young missionary try to justify these racist statements, i wanted to pick him up out of his seat and scream..."

then you justify it? ...by explaining that it was in the past and "you don't have to believe those racist teachings anymore."

members of your church claim that "the church of jesus christ of latter day saints is the one true church on this earth."

but, in this video you're claiming that they weren't entirely true at that time. how can a true prophet of God be wrong?

  • "yes these men are ordained as prophets, seers, revelators." ...then they would understand how wrong their teachings were... seeing as how they speak to God and all.

"told your whole life to follow" = indoctination

    "they're human" ...yep.

"they also make mistakes" ...double yep

"they're also products of their time." ...again, they should have known better as prophets. there were plenty of people living then that weren't racist and weren't claiming to be prophets.

    these are terrible excuses!

  • i have a question we will keep this for you bible lovers, name me one person (besides the saviour) who never made a mistake in there whole life? we know everybody in the bible done something wrong in there days right?

  • I love how Brigham Young and the Church leaders say that the Prophet "is the mouthpiece for God" and then they change their scriptures and teachings and claim that they are just men making mistakes like all of us. Bullshit.

  • Narrator: "When I say Mormon, what's the first thing that comes to your mind?"

    Me: "BRAINWASHED"

  • @ToolFan68 haha

  • Ahhhh.... Salt Lake Shitty, Utah. I don't miss you one little bit. Oh, and leaving that narrow minded church full of plastic, arrogant, "brothers & sisters" was the best move I ever made. :)

  • Men being products of time eh? Hmm.... or is it the other way around? A word of wisdom- Life is what one makes of it. No doubt about that!

  • I wish I could live in an all white world.

  • how many more mormon gay sons and daughters have to slice their wrists before you bigots get a heart? the mormon religion is led by bigoted old homophobic pricks who are set in their ways. ways that promote hate. how dare you call it a religion of love. the mormon religion is disgusting and nothing more than a money making cult.

you poor mormon sheep. wake up!
