  • Lets get real

    Only real world implication:

Figuring out the process of PHOTOSYNTHESIS!

  • i got a question...

in the case of a mirror... does it reflect the light as it happens, or is there a small delay until the light particles get to the mirror?

  • Screw a lightbulb, we've got a titanium sapphire laser

  • i want one !

  • That's pretty amazing.

You cannot watch a photon going past you, only one that hits your eye's directly. I believe this thing works off of scattered light.

  • Yes! I can finally play Skyrim!

  • Hi, Welcome to the the internets, please do not feed the trolls ...

  • @TheMechaGeek please do not feed people that say "troll" ugh!

  • @TheMechaGeek TROLOLOLOLOLTROLOL

  • Do they sound Canadian?

  • record a lightning

  • @gaYde Allow me to give you one quick example of your retardation!

On one of your posts made on another channel you say to another tuber "and you cant even spell you're? Then with your next channel comment we have "i saw that on aots, was fucking rofl'ing all over the >palce<" That is why there is an unspoken rule amongst "none-retards" to never pick up on each others typo's because we are ALL capable of performing such a mild error! And stop wanking over my featured video, PLEASE!!

  • @tzMDDMistertzz Fuck these "will it blend" comments.

  • Wow, this is really awesome.

  • @HurtmeDontPlease your gay

  • OK, so what's the speed of dark?

  • @HurtmeDontPlease same as the speed of light, since dark is the result of light going away..

  • @Rel7eGaDe

    I was'nt expecting a sagacious reaction! ThanXXX, gaYde! <3

  • @HurtmeDontPlease oh sorry, didnt see you were an attention whore trolling around in your mini jupe... pardon my error, kid.

  • @Rel7eGaDe

Son! Relax for fucks sake! Don't take yourself so seriously! Don't forget that you came flirting & flaunting yourself at me first! Pretentious personalities suck! :D

  • @HurtmeDontPlease my intention was to help, cause you asked a question, but like i said had no clue you were a little kid in need of attention, now stfu and go to bed

  • I think it's fake, they're just moving the light source slowly

  • That is AWESOME!

  • Nice stuff

  • I need to change my pants.....

  • @TinnBenn LOL Umad bro? I know you're not used to intelligent comments without raging like an insecure virgin. The sheer amount of cock stuffed up your ass must account for all that built up teen-angst, but please try princess.

  • @TinnBenn What the fuck is your problem? I don't think you understand the definitions of the words "arrogance," or "shit" at all. Try thinking of something better to do in your spare time than troll random people.

  • I don't see any "light particles" moving through space

  • fucking sick

  • What's up with 00:26's accent?

  • @DustiestDog Sounds like a german accent (as I myself am German) :P

  • Comment removed

  • @DustiestDog He's got an accent, so what ?

  • @JTshoot I was just wondering where the accent's from, it sounds alien to me

  • if this is true im going to shut my self today

  • Genius Level Asian

  • Take a video of a light turning on in a dark room

  • @MrKurtLane Actually you can do that with a much cheaper camera than this one. Florescent and Incandescent light bulbs actually take a relatively long time to turn on. So instead of a big wave of light spreading across and illuminating the room, the room actually just starts out dim and gradually becomes brighter and brighter..

  • @Wassamattawityou LOL, So you turn on a fluorescent light and you can see the photons of light wizzing by?

  • This is awesome not to mention Ramesh is Hot.

Great things for the future. Congrats.

  • why there is Sub in English :D

  • Wtf is wrong with these peoples voice...specially that white ass...

  • @Baldoxxx4000

It's just that they aren't American. Generally those excelling into the future aren't people like you who can't even comprehend that other cultures outside yours exist.

  • @MrMassDeffect Go easy on the 10-year-olds... damn.

  • @Baldoxxx4000

because there are foreigners. obviously u know most of Americans ain't scientists.

the top scientists in America almost all are foreigners. they are mostly Jews, Indians, And other Europeans. most of Americans are thugs, cashiers, security officers like that.

  • @SquareCrystal Have you ever even been to America? You don't even know what you're talking about. Do some research before you leave idiotic comments like that again.

  • @ambi3nttech

everyone knows it fool, it's a common secret. Americans are dumb.

search on youtube u can find the answer.

  • @SquareCrystal That's a sterotype.... Hmm. I see. That's why you're stupid. You get your information from YouTube....

  • @ambi

well it's actually a survey done by Americans. they randomly picked people and asked questions that's how they came to a conclusion most of Americans are dumb and have no idea about outer world other than inside of their country. I am sorry if I offend u but accept the truth. u are no better than those Muslims. Muslims are same they never admit their "CULT" (Islam) is a terrorist ,violence one instead justify everything and give bullshit reasons. u are obviously like them.

  • @SquareCrystal YOU ARE FUCKING RETARDED! First you think that all Americans are stupid and then you say that Islam and a cult and all muslims are terrorists? You're obviously the one who lacks knowledge of other cultures. And by the way the thing you said is complete bullshit.

  • @ambi3nttech

oh u get anger huh. well when I say Americans are dumb u was calm. but when I say Muslims are violence u get anger. so the obvious conclusion is u are a Muslim. so fuck off then. I have no talk with terrorists.

  • @SquareCrystal you better shut the fuck up your hypocrisy is making my brain hurt. can there really be someone so retarded?

  • @SquareCrystal No I "get anger" because of your hypocrisy and idiocy and ignorance! You're so fucking retarded, you have horrible grammar, and you've probably never been outside your mom's basement.

  • @ambi3nttech

    stfu and gtfo terrorist.

  • @SquareCrystal Lol u mad?

  • @SquareCrystal I'm not a terrorist... You shut the fuck up and get the fuck out you ignorant, retarded son of a bitch.

  • @ambi3nttech

    admit it or gtfo.

  • @SquareCrystal Lol, you're so fucking dumb.

  • @SquareCrystal @SquareCrystal Just shut the fuck up and kill yourself.

  • @John14073 I know what slowmotion is, but I think it's strange how the moving light pulse appears so Sharp when they are saying that the sensors are slow. When I take a picture of a fast-moving object with a camera that has a slow sensor, it's not surprising that the fast object appears blurred on the picture. Then how come the light pulse here doesn't just look like a light blur wiping across the scene?

  • @nielzdg Actually, streak cameras are just diagnostic tools for gathering information on light pulses. Streak cameras don't work like your normal slow motion camera which captures a sequence of 2D images in "frames." They capture a single 2D image, which has one dimension of a narrow slit of incoming light, and the other dimension as time (how the first dimension changes). They then take a whole bunch of these one dimensional pictures and compile them. The camera is truly continuous.

  • That light is actually farther along than it appears on film. Why?

Because the light has to reflect and reach the camera first.

  • Wait a second. They are saying that the sensors of their cameras are in fact slow, then how come they can capture a pule of light - something that is moving at 300,000 Km/sec - so sharp? Something isn't quite right here...

  • @nielzdg there are 500 sensors, so each "takes a picture" one after another, to account for the delay of each individual sensor.

  • @nielzdg A slow motion camera doesn't mean that it records slowly, but instead it means that it is specifically designed for producing a smooth slow motion video.

  • Essentially a strobe effect - like firing a machine gun and filming the bullets in flashes of light, making it look like you're following a single bullet.

Slightly less impressive than the claims, if I've understood it correctly.

  • Thanks to thechive

  • Keep Calm and Chive on.

  • I'm a Chiver [=

  • Im here from TheChive

  • please repeat in vaccum. or outer space. photons interact with particles.

  • I want to buy it! lol. no seriously that was amazing. Great! :)

  • I'm a lean mean vindaloo machine!

  • Can someone explain to me how this would be used in medical studies vs. Aeronautics and Space technology? What are they going to do? Surgically remove my heart, pass it through the light and put it back in? Light barely penetrates object.

  • @majorhavoxg1 Depending on where and how you illuminate the tissue, this technique can give you so much insight. For example, in a muscle disease of some sort, muscles can be easily have a pulse go through them from the outside and how light goes through them can be observed to diagnose problems with structure. You could also rip your heart out and use this tech if it was being transplanted so as to not risk more damage to the organ during the diagnostic process.

  • its just a nikon with powerful sensors

  • Wonder how many millions of frames per second we'll need on such a camera if we want to record a video

  • So when will one of these fit in my pocket?

  • @shotgunsam666 never!

  • bullshit

  • @Bortygr what makes you say bull shit.

  • But this is only a visualisation - not a real photo of the light wave? Am I right?

  • @xyster7 no ...this is a 'photo'.....just taken using a different method

  • Who wears a suit to the lab?

  • @thincle6626 The lab rats' boss.

  • Supperb.. Ramesh ... am proud of you.

    Keep it up!

    cheers

    Shashank Jadhav

  • i could use this on taking picture of fast movement ghost :D

  • i wonder whats the size of a 5 sec video? 10 TB?

  • @ihos501 Not even close, they said that if they fired a bullet through that same soda bottle, the resulting video would be three years long.

  • @pwr2thepenguins bullet takes about 1/1000 of a sec to reach therefore a trillion/1000 = 1000000000 (billion) total frames it took the bullet to reach across. 1000000000frames/30 fps = 385 days If playing at 30 fps. He lied.

  • Money shot: 1:48 - 2:01

  • this is a serious question. as you see the photon of light pass the objects. do you see the relection/shadow of light on the objects. why is that not in slow motion too? this boggles me and makes me very skeptical of this experiment. if you can see the light itself in slow motion, why cant you see its radiants in slow motion too?

  • @sportyspice201 With this you can see the physical wave of light, with traditional slow motion cameras even the 'fastest' one can't catch the instant illumination from say a muzzle flash on a gun, it is simply not there and then there. This actually shows as the wave of light passes the objects.

  • I used to shoot at one trillion frames a second... then i took an arrow to the... kneeeeeeeeeeee........

  • @ZachPrinz Someone's been playing Skyrim here!!

  • The Chuck Norris jokes are getting old.

  • @defnyung

    So's yer Ma!

  • @defnyung and now you are die, chuck norris never getting old

  • What?

  • 131 people don't belive in science, they belive in religions, poor human beings

  • I'm trying to see why someone would dislike this video, unless they just didn't understand it.

  • Now I'm curious to see the double slit experiment being captured with this camera

  • @potatoqueue yeah, seriously

  • @potatoqueue Me too! Brilliant thought!

  • Thanks Vika :)

  • Can it also show the speed of cockroaches scurrying under the fridge in response?

  • 1,919,100 people watched this video only because they wanted to see what's up with that snowflake button.

  • putting the snowflakes made it seem less serious

  • Fast forward it.

You now have something faster than the speed of light.

    U MAD, Neutrinos?

  • @PonyofDuality haha :D

  • Oh my god! Very nice Coca Cola advertisement! :)

  • do this gonna stop the war or solve the problem of poverty ?

  • awsome.... if only i had this camera i could see where the pieces of my blown mind went

  • VSAUCE 2 :D

  • This is the biggening not only to capture fps imaging buy to be able to scan matter and discover how many neutrons and types of elements there is in a scanned item.

  • that's really great but doesn't help a bit to explain how the fuck magnets work!

  • ummmm why is there an ability to make it snow?

  • @Sparkle5958 Christmas, so you can have a White Christmas :D

  • 129 people are aliens

  • BTW There's not a monitor with such refresh rate so its impossible to feel it, only watching slow motion.......

  • trull science: play a game record with this camera, get max fps

  • @zimonslot Chuck Norris is a dead meme.

  • @zimonslot Face it MIT, you exist only because Chuck Norris allows you to..... Excellent work though.....! Very cool......

  • @65FALCONSG How creative.

  • Nice. It should be interesting to see what a two-slit diffraction experiments look like on this ... an animated interference pattern should look cool!

  • sehr beeindruckend!

  • Comment removed

  • 1. It captures at half a trillion fps, not a trillion.

    2. It doesn't take '1D movies' as that is impossible.

  • @CLBellamey well the mit phd guys say it captures a trillion fps, and it take 1D movies... i don't think they would have said that if it wasn't true... on the other end, some random guy on youtube doesn't seem to deserve any credit at all

  • An Asian = Genius mind ,

an American = Fucked up piece of shit

  • @jehanzeb89 a russian = worthless scum, even hitler said they were subhumans..lol

  • When are we trying the double slit experiment?

  • @DudeNiceVCR

ahah that would be a good one! Maybe we would get a "GTFO!!" pattern this time xD.

  • @DudeNiceVCR Thats is brilliant! I great questions!

  • @DudeNiceVCR that would be AWESOME!

  • Somebody call the slowmotion guys!!

  • what kind of sorcery is this? D:

  • This is Awesome ?! we can capture the foton that's coming from the sun :)))

  • POPULAR SCIENCE in 2003 showed how cordin Cameras caught light beams moving a foot a nanosecond across a mirror course - but tech like this is very classified normally and touchy because this originated from the Manhattan project. Now you know why you don't hear much about cameras on levels past the tens of millions of frames per second- they help with everything from Nuclear Detonation monitoring to explosive wave-motion....Lasers...syncing things(nuclear stuff again) and so on

  • I can only see this as a first of one of many uses of this new technology.

  • Wow...now i can track the motion of GHOSTS

  • HOLY SHIT!!!! This is incredible...

  • HELM, WARP ONE. ENGAGE!

  • Can you get a picture of an arrow to the knee instead of a bullet through an apple?

  • how about using it for quantum mechanics?

  • @superslimsim it's not an electron microscop lol

  • Chuck Norris get that when he uses Twixtor.

  • wow this is crazy. if technology keeps accelerating at this rate who knows where we'll be in 20 years.

  • I could use this to camera to find out who turns the light on in my fridge when I open the door.

  • @Kevinmham

    u meant how.

  • Fantastic!

  • I'd love to see this implemented in the prism thing, it would be interesting

  • OTAY

  • I feel like most of the people arguing about physics on here just completed their first semester of physics last week and now presume themselves to be world class scientists.

  • I feel so stupid in this world

  • Fail. Youtube's frame per second limit is 30...

  • @TheRuthlessNeleon are you trolling or just stupid?

  • @witherspoon1995 I'm wondering the exact same thing

  • @witherspoon1995 I am not trolling nor stupid. Youtubes limit is 30 frames per second.

  • @TheRuthlessNeleon think of it this way, its like if someone recorded a video on 1080p but uploaded it on youtube at 360p

  • @TheRuthlessNeleon No you're stupid. The amount of framerate to capture was to capture every single tiny movements and then relay the video into 30 FPS and extend the playtime of it. This is how you see slo-motion. Get your facts straight. You failed to understand slow-motion videos.

  • @Thorndepth You sir, are retarded. You can't render a trillion frames per second video to a 30 frames per second video. Even if you slowed it down enough. You have to see the raw video file to get the best video.

  • @TheRuthlessNeleon If you can create time-lapse video by taking 2 frames per minute to visually speed up the passage of time, couldn't you take a trillion frames a second to slow it down? There are already high-speed cameras that take one million frames per second. When that film is played back at 24fps (which is a typical frame rate for television/movies) it is obviously slower.
