You could try attaching it to a belt and wear it sash like across torso, with the kit around chest area,so as to not add more bulk to your waist and to not interfere with any pack you carry.
@Survivalonabudget Thanks my friend. I bought mines from a store called Decathlon. The leatherman bits won't fit in this set up but thats fine, only using it for the wild :-)
Wonderful little Kit Colin! Every thing looks compact and sharp. I also like the ranger band you are protecting compass/ whistle thing with. Every time I've got one of those, I've managed to break it or lose it...; ) Have a great weekend my friend.. : o)
@saradreaming Hi Sara my good friend. Thank you very much. Yeah the whistle/compass is quite fragile, hopefully the ranger band will protect it. I hope you have a great weekend also, take care.
ive got a belt pack that i put alot of things i may need quick and will save me taking my back pack off, its not as good as this but ill post a vid response!
i like it when the cat comes in shot LOL, with my videos its always my dog getting in the way haha!
Cooll setup, very interesting idea. I recently got the exact same sheath based on your review of a while back. Very good thing it is too. I like the securing method on the firesteel, very neat.
Nice kit, you put alot of thought into it. Like you said if you loose everything else, this has the essentials to cover your bases and a chance to survive. Looking forward to hearing how you like it and any changes you come up with. I hope you never have to depend on it, but great to be prepared. Take care and have a great weekend.
@ewtoutdoors Hi my friend, thank you very much. Yeah I hope never to use it in an emergency but its great to practice with the items and see how I like the system, hope you have a great weekend, take care.
Hey colin nice setup! Nice thought with the small torch since the dark scottish winters are upon us! Just a thought, I dont recall seeing any tactical high quality torches, my personal preferance is fenix as i had just bought a Fenix TK15 for the early darkness of winter, it is outstanding with a great throw for how compact it is!
That's a nice kit you have put together. Please keep us updated on how useful you find it. I like the whistle lanyard attached to the detachable lanyard ring, excellent idea.
That's a well organised kit , Colin. I use 3 of the Maxpedition single sheaths on my work belt, but I only put single items in them, if I need to carry extra gear I will this a try. Thanks mate!
You missed a bit Col! Undo the flap and on the top of the sheath there's that little pocket and it looks like you put a bit of cotton wool in there? I'll have a Brownie point for observation please and a Gold Star.
@oldhairpin Well spotted my friend. I do have a cotton ball shoved underneath the velcro at the front. Yeah you get a gold star for observation. Thanks my friend, Hava a great weekend.
I like what you have going there, but I don't like Velcro. And I always feel better about having a full tang knife around. But my multitool kit gets an upgrade after watching your video! Thanks.
I really like the way you secured that fire steel! very smart! I actually like the entire set up! hmm I really need to get a bigger leatherman! If you had to pick just one which would it be? Supertool, Charge,Blast, wave,MUT? Which is the best for some all around usage? One day I will be able to afford them all but not quite yet :(
@ironmonkeyz Thank you very much my friend. Well most of the Leatherman range is excellent. For the money I think the Blast and Wave are the winners. Take care
wow...I gotta get me one of them MaxP sheaths if it comes
with a free Louie...lol. I love your cat Col.
Nice lit.
I would add/make one modification to it mate. The paracord set-up for the ferro rod....I would do the same for the diamond sharpener. That little penlike clips on it...they are not that tough. Walking thru the woods...getting snagged. It will be gone befor you know it.
@RDPproject Thanks Rob, don't think it comes with a free cat unfortunately lol. Yes I think some paracord round the sharpener would be a good idea, cheers.
I have something similar to yours. I am currently using the Leatherman Charge. I put a few small pieces of Tinder Card behind mine and find it very useful with the Firesteel. My pouch is black, I like yours much better. Very nice kit!
The never ending quest for the perfect carry continues. :D I need to find a way to integrate a sharpener of some sort into my personal carry system one day..
Great idea for using a lanyard on the MT to get it out of the sheath, I sometimes struggle with mine and had never thought of that. Seems so simple now! Cheers Col, hope it works out for you.
@Smith28Adventure Hi Smith, yeah I couldn't agree more, I chop and change all the time, trying different options. Yeah the detachable lanyard works great with the sheath. Its a tight fit with all the tools at the side so a little help is nice. Hope you have a great weekend my friend, take care.
Very nice kit Colin. I look forward to finding out how it works. I am working with a smaller EDC one myself. I can always use a few good tips. Glad to see your cat helping you with the filming.
