@woodyate Torque units are ft-lbs, for instance. Meaningless comment, in that what matters is where it peaks, and the shape of the torque curve to either side.
Check out "white finger" and how saws such as this caused it. Big medical prob.
@woodscritter oh, Im glad you clarified that, all along I thought 137cc had more ft lbs than a 90cc engine, my bad, white finger was music? I didnt realize he has medical problems?
The Stihl MS880 produces 8.6 horsepower from 121.6 cc and has all of the new technology. If one assumes that a similar displacement saw of the vintage of the 090 would make 8.0 horsepower, then the 090 would have realistically been around 9.0 horsepower.
The horsepower output of the stihl 090 seems to be a unknown. I have seen figures of 8.5HP 9HP and 13HP. I would like to put one on a small engine dyno but the clutch side of a stihl 070 090 chainsaw with it's crush sleeve (spieth) makes it hard to adapt a 3/4" shaft to the crankshaft for the engine dyno.
the ms 880 makes a better sound
