  • Their voices are like water, strong enough to hold a ship but you can see through it. Amazing.

  • Their voices are like water, strong enough to hold a ship but you can see through it. Amazing.

  • This is the best version of Louder Than Words on youtube in my opinion.

  • uhm, you changed the ending?......actions speak louder than words....kinda ruins the whole meaning, doesn't it?

  • I love using quotes from this song in my book reports, haha...

But this song is so gorgeous. Jonathan Larson would be proud!

  • Absolutely amazing, these 3 have beautiful voices and it made me have goosebumps all over. Well done

  • It's absolutely beautiful. What was your decision to have them remain stoic for the majority of the performance? (Even though they eventually stood, they remained unmoving and in the same location).

  • I have to say that a lot of high school performances on youtube are pretty mediocre however as a huge fan of musical theater and of tick tick boom this performance was pretty stellar. I liked the arrangement as well.

  • I agree .... Jonathan is happy to hear these beautiful voices sing his music

  • I remember this! My Group in Drama had to do this and I was the girl. I remember all the lines well my lines. Its hard to give movement to this song since dancing was part of the grade.

  • Everytime I watch this it makes my day. Thank you for such a great performance!

  • I absolutely adore it. Gave my chills!

  • splendid. :)

  • Positively Beautiful.

You've made Jonathan Larson Proud I'm sure of it!!!

    <3 Em

  • Beautifully performed!

    Excellent staging!

and your lighting designer did an awesome job too!

Thank You for finally doing well deserved justice to Jonathan Larson's show - too often I see this song poorly performed!

    :)

  • I am watching this video everyday.

I'd like to know singers' names.

If someone know their names, please post it !

  • @musicinyourheart

In order of appearance, Bryan Noll, Tom Compton, & Maria Walker (now Maria Notch)

  • this is absolutely amazing. j. larson would def be proud :]

  • Wow!! this is fantastic!

  • very nice! especially the first singer is amazying!

  • Very well done!

  • this is THE best out of all the renditions on youtube

  • Aw, the good old days. I remember thinking that working with people this talented was normal at the high school level. Ha. The acoustics were better from stage left, though.

  • this is truly incredible!!

  • Beautiful voice

  • The guy who sings Jonathans stuff is incredible!

  • Charlie! I love this clip...MTN was always so much fun to do with stage crew...and I loved the show this year!!!

  • wow that was sooo good better then some other videos of people singing this song!

  • Woah, they were awesome!

  • At first I was like "Wow Kirk Cameron has a awesome voice!"

  • these guys are realllly good...loooove the vocals :)

  • wow the vocals were amazing great job!

  • Wow. The first guy is wonderful. In fact they are all great, but he was a stand out, what a great voice!

  • Although I did not see this show right before 9/11, the line "why does it take a catastrophe to start a revolution, if we're so free?" always reminds me of that.

  • Very nice vocals :)

  • [is awed] wow.

  • amazing voices but there is no emotion in their singing

  • Good, just not a convincing performance

  • i was in the same broadway group as these three people and it was truly an honor to work with all of them.

  • Wonderful! There is nothing more to say...

  • can you tell us the names of these performers?

  • this is amazing singing! the lead is absolutely amazing!

  • i get chills when i hear this song...bust the best version i've heard is one from tick tick boom mexico...is the best!!!!

  • This is so wonderful! I think it was absolutely beautiful. but, I feel there could have been more dynamics and feeling in it.

  • no hay palabras

  • no emotion in his voice! come on!

  • i'm directing this show next year and i am inspired! your lead is fantastic. a little sad without the happy birthday at the end though. was this a concert performance of the song only?

  • I believe this was the only song from the show done that year. It was performed at Musical Theatre Nights (which is a musical revue type show).

  • yes

  • You don't know how many stars or favorites I REALLY wish I could give this. Definitely the bet version I've heard so far.

  • i love this show so very very much.

  • Wow... These three are amazing! I just wish the sound quality was better -- your camera couldn't handle the noise, especialy from the lead and the soprano. Even through that, though, you can tell that these three have real talent.

  • not the centerstage version. type in albertville centerstage and they do this song with no acting or stuff like that. its awesome

  • I actually think the "minimal" acting serves the song. Look at some of the other clips of this song on youtube. This is the best one...because they aren't trying to act. They simply sing and let the song come across on its own.

  • lovee thisss :]

  • i cannot believe that one high school can have this much talent at the same time. bravo!

  • APPROVED BY THE ANGEL OF MUSIC

  • The thing about this particular song, is its just like the Finale to RENT. Blocking, major visible acting...its all lost in the power of the lyrics and music. Its more of a distraction than an enhancement. This is an incredible performance. Even with the garbled recording quality of a camera, it still sounds breathtaking...I get goosebumps. Awesome job!

  • the reason it sounds lk rent is because it is by the same same composer Jonathan who rocks by the way!!!!! :D

  • I know its by the the same composer...and I agree, he was one of the most amazing people of his time. :)

  • yea!!!! i luv him!!!! and andrew lloyd webber and stephan schwartz

  • sorry astarisxborn but i kinda have to disagree

i thought it was amazing even without amazing acting

  • no energy... just standing there.

voices good. but acting is lacking

  • amazing

i love the main guys voice and i wish to someday sing this song

i really wish our high school would do this

  • In high school- wow.

    Very good.

  • Wow, a high school took on Tick, Tick, Boom?

wow my respect for them went up like a million points for them

hey did they go to nebraka this past summer?

  • Brill your voices are perfect!!

  • Wow! I'm speechless. Talk about talen.

  • So good!!!!

  • Sophomore High school or college??

    these kids are just increidble?

  • Must be college!!

  • Actually, they are from Arrowhead High School.

  • Wow!

  • got chills too :) great job, amazing vocals

  • I got chills! great job guys.

  • Dude, me too.

  • beautiful. thanks!

  • I remember watching this a few years ago at Musical Theater Nights (my brother was a sophmore in the Broadway Company that year.) I was so moved by this song! ^_^ It carries a powerful message that everyone should hear.

  • wondeful. you did a great job directing this. the lighting really works

  • i like how it's very simple, you just hear the words, and it makes you realize how true it is. i think if they were more into it, you would get caught up in the acting and not hear the clear message and beauty in it. this way, the sound just washes over you and it's beautiful.

i just wish the video had a better sound quality.

  • Just because the others below me don't hear any "emotion" doesn't mean it's not there. Brilliant!!

  • needs more emotion but still good

  • amazing harmony and.... brill overall.

but i would like to see more emotion in their acting, though

    ...still amazing

  • So, so amazing.

  • mann i cannot get enough of this! i love it!

  • THIS IS BEAUTIFUL

  • beautiful harmonies. it actually made me kinda tear up lol =D

  • Yes, its very nicely sang. but a little more emotion or the actors 'getting into what they were singing about.' wouldnt have gone a miss. every question in this song needs to be address, epecially in a concert version, where the story of Tick Tick Boom hasn't gone before. surely the question 'why do we follow leaders who never lead.' is a question that americans can relate to? Just my comments. peace

  • Great voices, great lighting. fav/replay/and download to put on my ipod ;)

  • the guy who's singing for jon has an absolutely beautiful voice...michael is pretty good, though his voice doesn't seem as mature as jon's, and susan has a very pretty voice. the harmony is spot-on, and overall this song is definitely on par with the original cast version. bravo!

  • Well Done!

  • holy crap =] amazing =]

  • What school is this?

  • Arrowhead High School in Hartland, WI

  • the voice on that guy.

    holy shit.

    amazing.

  • did you make up the ending? cause that's not how the song ends. it ends with a piano playing happy birthday then crescendos. is that how it looks in the sheet music?

  • we made up the ending since the original ending works in the context of the show but seems anti-climactic when taken out of context.

  • I agree. I'm always waiting for the big ending when I listen to the CD, but when "Happy Birthday" comes on...it's a complete letdown. Nice choice for the ending.

  • One of my FAV SONGZ!!!

  • ypu guys rock im singing to this right now fun fun fun =D

  • Amazing i love singing this song its so incredible im singing it right now =D you guys rock

  • i remember being a freshmen in hs and seeing this for the first time....

  • Excellent! These kids sound FIERCE!

  • WOW!

  • i watch this vid every night about 10 times before i go to bed. i absolutely LOVE it!! i get chills everytime!!!

  • this was beautiful it made me cry.

  • Wow, that was incredible! Great job! The guy playing Johathon is completely amazing. Love his voice.

  • I agree.

  • Best I've heard this song, ever

  • Goosebumps!

  • wow, great blend, great message...

  • Wow. That was so good I got chills.

  • Wow, closer to the jonathan larson than played off broadway and on tour

  • You all have wonderful theater singing voices, and have a FANTASTIC blend, but over all I feel it sounds way too poppy. Too high school musical. A little more something to give these performers than just sitting and singing would have been nice to look at too. Great job, but could have been more with less boy band and more rock.

  • All three singers were fantastic! The first one, though, gave me chills.

  • I have listened to this song at least 5 times today. It is so beautiful- Jonathan Larson is a musical genius, and i love Rent too. all three singers were amazing, especially the first one. GREAT JOB!

  • Absolutely incredible

The kid singing Raul Esparza's part is fantastic

    You guys are astounding

  • wow. you guys have some powerful voices. The first guy.... marry me. =P

  • Wow, these are high school performers?

  • This is my favorite song from the show. and this performance was AAAMMMMAAAZZZINNNGGG

  • Wow. Absolutely amazing! =)

    Awesome job.

  • Thank you so much everyone for your compliments and support :) It was an honor to sing this powerful song!

  • wow!

    gOod job! jOnathan Larson!

  • really well done. all three have wonderful voices. good job!

  • Beautifully done! You would have made Jonathan proud!

  • That was fantastic! Amazing job!

  • I watch this everyday and love it more each day

  • Excellent job. I saw this show not too long ago by a "professional" company and it was very mediocre...terrible voices and acting. Your production sounds fabulous, wish I could have seen it instead of the one I saw.

  • it was truly an honor and a privlage to be apart of this show as a whole and these beautifly gifted individuals. nice work charlie as always.

  • That was FABULOUS!!!!

  • I thought it would be really hard to live up to jonathans expectations, but that gave me the cold chills. Amazing!

  • that was amazing! i love this song and they did it justice.

  • that was...wow...i got chills!!

  • they are so talented... they sang it so well

  • amazing, great job

  • WOW. Breathtaking. =) That's all really, this is SO amazing. Whoever played Jonathan is just, WHOA. =)

  • wow, this is amazing. which mtns was this from? 2003 i think? bryan noll, tom compton, and maria walker, hooray for you! o ya, kudos to you too, charlie! =)

  • wow. this is incredible. they have fantastic voices. ahh. im in love with this song.

  • This was absoleutly amazing! I loved how they all started bouncing their knees! They're voices blended and I would love to see them three do the whole show.

  • WOW! That was sooo amazing. I wish I could download this with their voices so I could listen to it all the time. Their voices were amazing and they blended so well especially on the last note. And the guy who played Jonathan was amazing! I love his voice. Great job!

  • sooo awesome

  • wow great voices!! i love this song!

  • amazzzzzzing!

  • Terrific! Wonderful tone. Great together.

  • Indicating means Like when an actor says the word think and then points to their head. You are showing what the audience what you are talking about...something that as humans we DONT do in real life. So when an actor does it, it looks really fake. It's a great performance and the two boys look really natural. The girl has a great voice and I'm sure she' s a great actress. She is just indicating. Pointing it out.

  • The boy who played Jonathan is FANTASTIC. Great tone. Great phrasing. I think the trio sections need better blending / need smoother phrasing..... Congratulations Jonathan. You were fantastic!

  • This is a truly amazing performance!!! The lead is extremely talented, I can't even find the right words to explain how impressed I am with him! I have watched this video at least ten times today!! --thank you

  • I LOVE THIS SONG, ITS LIKE MY FAVORITE SONG EVER!!!!!! You guys were pretty good, the guy who played Jonathon is pretty adorable.

  • could have used a few stronger lighting choices, but this coming from a lighting designer...

  • All of your voices are great but the girl needs to stop indicating. It's a common trap young actors fall into.

  • What is "Indicating" ? is it lyrical hand gestures ?

  • This song always makes me sad about Jonathan Larson. But this performance is very good!

  • That was Fan-bloody-tastic!

  • I really liked your stage direction, it was very artistic, but it seemed too detached for a song as emotionally charged as this one. It looked like they were three soloists as opposed to the close-knit group that the characters are.

  • Thank you Johnathan Larson!

  • everything is amzing in this video. I love it. I wish Johnathan was still here today.

  • that was BEAUTIFUL. i was especially impressed with the lead boy's voice, but you all were WONDERFUL.

  • since everything else has already been covered in the comments, let me just add that I absolutely love the camera work as well as the incredible singing

  • I LOVE YOU, CHARLIE.

  • that was awesome

  • Alright, the voices were good. But maybe a little working on the acting? The guy playing John had basically the same expression during the whole song. And it seemed like they were just singing the song instead of feeling it.

  • He's got a fantastic voice. That's true talent. :o)

  • wow! got some goosebumps at the end! love this song!

  • this is amazing! i love this show like oh so much. these ppl are great!

  • wow. i really like the direction of this song... but its almost a little too static.

  • i am very very picky as well..but beign a huge TTB fan, im proud to say this is one of the few vids ive seen that is very good. well done!

  • I may not be the most knowledgeable when it comes to theater but I thought this cast was trully amazing. Their singing blew me away, and the stage direction made the song really powerful. I get shivers around the time they stand up and when they walk forward every time I watch it.

  • your john was awesome...the other 2 were impressive too

  • wow. amazing! Kudos to you and the actors!

  • omg.... this was seriously so amazing... it gave me chills watching it! i really hope all three of there actors are persueing a carrer in theater. amy, raul, and jerry would all be extremely impressed

  • Really really good. Great choice with the lighting.

  • snl891 put it very well. Basically, they are amazing. And just standing up and walking forward seem very powerful. Nice job directing.

  • wow, that was actually rather amazing!! and, you know, raul esparza and amy spanger being two of my favorite broadway performers, I'm preeetty picky when it comes to this song :P but seriously, this version is CRAZY great. They all have wonderful voices! And like, NONE of them ever went off pitch, even with those tough harmonies- like ever! haha

  • this was very very good. wow, im honestly very impressed. not the most attractive cast, but still very very talented.

  • tom compton, maria walker, and bryan noll. this was amzing mr charlie bauer. i will never forget this.
