Once you find your 25m zero then what? If I am shooting at 100m what do I need to do to hit the center of the target? What about 200m or 300m? Are the adjustments made at that point to the 6/3 or 8/3 dial?
@CCumby007 With the rifle zeroed at 25m for 300m, using the smaller day distance aperture, from point blank to 25m, aim high. Past 25m until about 300, aim low.
The larger night close combat sight is set for 200m.
This was really good thank you DPMS. I always purchase a lot of your items and they have been great. Yes I can afford the high priced stuff but why when you guys make it affordable and the same quality, guess whos pockets id rather fill then ;-)
OK video, poor audio. Come on DPMS you make a great product put out at least a good video. However, that aside, the training was very helpful, thank you.
OUTSTANDING Instructional Video; every bit of it is totally essential knowledge and skills one needs to develop if one is to become a proficient, effective shooter. I commend you for doing this, and remind all of us to pass on this knowledge, and especially the values expressed in our Constitution, and the reasons why each one is so important. Every day "they" are quietly, continuously whittling these down, diluting them; ground that was won by lives, blood and suffering. God bless the USA!
You made the best instructional video I have every seen on youtube. Simple and with a good voice, not some boring bla bla bla facts and figures. Thanks this will be very helpful
Look at the numbers along the bottom of the zero target. Three clicks per box. as the grouping was towards the right side of the second box you can guesstimate approx 5 clicks. Hope this helped.
wait? the targets at 25 meters though so how can u be of the same accuracy at 300 meters? at 25 meters there is less bullet drop and windage so when u actually shoot at something 300 meters away these things are going to come into play. am i mising something?
@NeedWarForPeace Remember that a bullet follows a curved path from the barrel whilst the sight maintains a straight line. This means that the sight will generally 'cross' the path of the bullet twice in its flight time. I believe for the M-16 if you sight the rifle at 25 meters the second 'cross' will be at 300 meters.
If you are shooting from 25 yards the size of the 18 in man sized target on the paper is scaled to the size of a man sized target at 300 yards. The paper target is using perspective manipulation giving the visual impression of shooting 300 yards.
ok quick question about the rear sight elevation. you wouldnt happen to know what type of rear sight they use at marine corps basic training in san diego use? everything else seems pretty straight forward though
So how would i zero a flip up sight that only has windage ? just but the put the target at 25 meters and try to adjust it like the markings on the paper say?
There should be a few actual size 25 meter targets if you do a search in Google images. We don't have anything to download from our site though currently.
Never messed with a AR platform much and was wondering about adjusting the sights on my new one. This video makes me feel stupid which is a good thing since it's so simple. Thanks! =)
thank you!!!!!!!!!

after you're zeroed, pop the ele knob back to 6/3? won't that make your point of impact lower?

I adjusted mine to zero at 200m because there's a 50yd cross point of impact for a .223 round. Works great.

I thought the windage should always be centered when firing at a target? and the only thing to really zero is the front sight post?

Fire 10 rounds to confirm zero at longer range. 3 round groups can be all over the place with poor ammo.

I believe he should of said to bring the rear sight down 2 clicks off the "Z" (zero) setting after you've sighted in at 25M, or maybe I missed that.

When doing this with my 5.56, at 25 meters, should I be looking thru the small peepsight? Or the large?

Nice shooting.
I love it when I nail it right off like you did.
I always move back to 100 yards and fine tune it.
I like those holes right on the center line and I'm kind of picky about it..
