How does a canned hunt compare to the meat you buy at the grocery store? No different. Why do you not have a problem when you buy a steak? its just perception NOT reality of it is. My wild lion took 2 months and 3 safaris with costs over $150,000. Only 1 male was shot. Canned lions start at about $25K for males-less for females. big males can sell as high as $75K. Sure there is value, but there is no hunt. They are not wild, but many have lost their fear of man.

A cow in a pasture is more wild than this lion, as this lion could not survive int he wild. He has been fed by humans his entire life and has no survival insticts. He was released in a pen just a few hours or maybe a day before he was shot. At least a cow in a pasture has learned how to survive without humans.

They would not release more than one lion at a time into their killing area of a couple of acres. They might hurt each other, and if they lived there the thorns would strip their mane. Those ranchers would not harm the value of their prized pets like that. They want them slow, fat and sometimes drugged before the hunt begins. There are 3000captive bred lions in South Africa. These scumballs really do exist. Go to South Africa hunting websites and ask them about their "captive bred lions". There are some wild lions in South Africa, but the large majority of the ones shot there are tame and were raised in a fence to be shot by some unethical asshole.
Lion was raised in fence the size of my bedroom and released just before he was shot. This is soon to be illegal in South Africa, thank god. You can see the corner of the fence from the 9th second to the 23rd second. Its not ok to do that in a canned hunt, but its OK in another case. Does any animal deserve special treatment over how its killed or the reason why, I dont believe so.

Bob, Fenced hunting has an important place saving animals such as the scimitar horned oryx or the markhor; however, they are not predators or cats. The outfitter must keep lions in cages or they will kill all wild animals in the enclosure for food and fun. Yes lions, leopards and cougars kill for fun. There are more SH oryx in texas on hunting ranches than in the wild. Same with Pere David Deer, water deer, blackbuck, etc, etc.

Bob, there is no reason for canned hunts, except someone has a big ego and no ethics. I am very sure this animal was eaten, but lets look at this differently. My wild lion took 2 months and 3 safaris with costs over $150,000. Only 1 male was shot. Canned lions start at about $25K for males-less for females. big males can sell as high as $75K. Sure there is value, but there is no hunt. They are not wild, but many have lost their fear of man.

Theres no reason to kill any lion apart from personal satisfaction. Maybe others wdont want to spend so much time/money to kill a lion. There is nothing wrong with that. Just making it difficult to find the right lion doesnt make it any more sporting when you shoot it with an extreme advantage.

I have no problem for eating a hunt for food, as in fishing, deer and son on. I just have a problem for a trophy hunt. I can't understand that reasoning just to kill for no food. A cow in a pasture is more wild than this lion, as this lion could not survive int he wild. He has been fed by humans his entire life and has no survival insticts. He was released in a pen just a few hours or maybe a day before he was shot. At least a cow in a pasture has learned how to survive without humans.

They would not release more than one lion at a time into their killing area of a couple of acres. They might hurt each other, and if they lived there the thorns would strip their mane. Those ranchers would not harm the value of their prized pets like that. They want them slow, fat and sometimes drugged before the hunt begins. Real hunters are pushed to get this outlawed as much as the anti-hunting crowd.

This is a tame lion. Just imagine what a wild lion would do. One that had not been fed by people and petted thru a fence. A PH would never let a hunter shoot a lion off shooting sticks if it was wild, and the guy missed several shots earlier in the charge. He had a chance to turn the charge if he had hit him earlier. Lions are not like buffalo, they can be turned when charging.

I'm told most shoot in front of a charging lion, which is what I saw in the clip. PH was dangerously careless by allowing the wanker to shoot a moving target on his 1st shot. It is not like the lion was getting away, he could only go 100yds before he hit a fence. This clip, also did not show the rest on the 1st shot, but I bet it was off sticks with neither elbow braced.

There are 3000captive bred lions in South Africa. These scumballs really do exist. Go to South Africa hunting websites and ask them about their "captive bred lions". There are some wild lions in South Africa, but the large majority of the ones shot there are tame and were raised in a fence to be shot by some unethical asshole.

Lion was raised in fence the size of my bedroom and released just before he was shot. This is soon to be illegal in South Africa, thank god. You can see the corner of the fence from the 9th second to the 23rd second. I'm not positive but last time I checked, you can't go buy Elk or deer or Antilope in the grocery store. It's good meat that I happen to enjoy. If I can't buy it, I have to get it some other way.
