If this lion was raised by man it was probably very confused. It did not look as though it was attacking or else it would have killed or severely injured the man. This poor lion looks confused to me. Watch the story of Christian the Lion to see if wild animals can bond with man and you will see that they can and do and in fact have memories and feelings towards those who raise them.
@Koscheck2011 This is real life you cant fight off a cougar with your bare hands! They are faster than you as well if this one wanted to kill that man it would have been over before backup arrived.Humans are not the fastest OR strongest but we are the smartest so use your head and don't try it!
@Chesenips980, very true, id probably still shit myself if a came face to face with one...go into the woods armed, with at least a knife, thats what i like to keep in mind.
@NathansBackwoods I turned around after setting up a deer stand to see one about 20 feet from me. Just staring at me. I was fucking petrified. Im also a schizophrenic, so stuff like that is always in the back of my mind when Im in the woods.
@Chesenips980, that kind of stuff scares me, used to think i was schizophrenic, but then i realized the past couple of times i went out riding a dirt bike in the woods i did not think about it once
@PhatFarm60 actually that game is what led me to care about animals , its kinda realistic in a way how bears kill you in one hit and how cougars kill you in one pounce and stalk you .
I wish i could say i'd been attacked by a cougar and survived with no damage. Nice assist by the friend with the stick. That's good looking out. Amazing video!
my dad and brother just sighted a couger 45 min ago crossing the road onto my property. ive been sitting on the deck up high looking into the thinned forest with a marlin 45-70 :D
no mate. No proof currently exists to say that cougars (Puma concolor) have a black variant. Panthers are melanistic colour variants of many different species of big cat and can be found S. America (Panthera onca), in Asia and Africa (black leopards (Panthera pardus)), and in N. America they are black jaguars.
it was a young female & inexperienced couger just they usually go for the neck! he was just lucky it was nt a bigger older alpha male or it would have done him serious damage even with his mates fighting it of with poles!
cougar attacks on humans aren't typically fatal for that main reason. Cougars are not use to hunting humans for food, thus they don't know where the neck on a human is. This unfamilarality usually gives a human a upper hand, and most attacks result in severe to minor injuries.
I agree its apparent that the cougar wasn't trying to kill the person otherwise this 150-250 pound cat would have at the very least sunk those 3 inch fang into that dudes back leaving blood stains on his shirt...
@gtq838 that was not a 150 pound cat (let alone 250 - lol) more like 80 pound female... this is a small cougar I've seen full grown males up close and they could rip a man apart -- they're much much bigger...
@Grandfrog2 I still have to disagree. I don't think it would be playful with an intruder entering its territory especially when they already fear us so much.
What a beautiful animal, i have always been curious as to why one animal has so many different names, Cougar, Mountain Lion, Puma, and Florida Panther?.
couger never attack unless threatens or protecting so what is your situation?... i went camping once we saw a couger about 10 or so feet away but it was downhill we just stared at it and it ran away funny thing was every one was cowering behind me... shit i was scared too
bearing in mind this was in england aswell, were big cats are not native, but there has been sightings around the area.
we were some were wer we wer not suposed to be so we ran towards a 30ft chain link fence we walked along it and then the puma or whatever it was was following us allong the fence when we turned around it ran at us. that was when i shone the tourch in its eyes and it ran, i guess it thought we had gone into its teretory... after that we ran for miles
That is complete BS. Cougars don't just attack if it feels threatened or protecting it's young. Cougar attacks on humans are becoming more and more common and many times it's for food. Me and my friends were camping two nights ago and my friend happened to spot a creature's eyes with his flashlight glowing in the dark about 30 feet away. We quickly realized it was a cougar and it was stalking us, down real low creeping towards us. It was going to sprint at us so we screamed at it and it ran.
After it ran we saw it still looking at us from farther away and it slowly crept towards us again until it was on the little island in the middle of the river that we were camping on. We couldn't see it anymore in the dark and had no idea where it was so we got out knives and made torches. Damn it was the scariest situation I've been in. It was a lot bigger than the cougar in this video...
If you didn't read it then how would you know if i was trying to sound smart or not? Oh, that's what I thought; I don't sound smart at all, it's just that to morons like you, anything sounds intelligent. I was sharing a story that relates to this video. Some people may find it interesting. Go fuck yourself.
holy shit. ive seen seven this year in colorado, six were in my county, one was nere my house crossing the highway above the local school. five were together in a camp ground. near the continental devide.

no. whats ment to roaming the British countryside (and Irish??) is ment to be a melanistic leopard...which is commonly called a panther.
