  • Three people don't know how to talk to the animals.

  • The bear has the moves

  • 1:26 the Lion almost does the Cat Daddy hahaa

  • BEST SHOW EVER!!!! I love The Lawrence Welk Show, quality entertainment and amazingly talented people! I wish we had a show like this on TV nowadays! WE NEED IT! this is a riot! its so GOOD! I love the animals dancing, they are great!

  • Gorilla has to be Bobby Burgess

  • @jimaroo100 I think one of the Lennon girls sair it was Jack Imel !

  • geritol.

  • Looking at the gorilla, then back at the lion...oh my. xD

    The bears just average.

  • The lion is fairly bad, but he looks much worse because of the sheer class of the gorilla's moves

  • Can any sisters be more adorable than these. I think not.

  • @skipper8257 Hooray ... Perfect !!!!

  • Nope ... from left to right... Kathy, Janet ,Peggy, Dianne !!!!!!

  • @boatracer39

They called Dianne DeeDee in her family.

  • @skipper8257 You are correct, that is the name all the family and friends call her,and still do today !

  • trippy

  • Has anyone noticed how the bear knocked down the book on Kathy's desk? She very expertly (and quickly) moved it under her chair with her foot. I prefer this version to the other one on YouTube of the Lennon's singing this song. Nice job, ladies!

  • @soccermomish I must have watched this 100 times and I never noticed that. Thanks.

  • @buzbeto Wow I too watch this over and over and just noticed it also. A happier simpler time when songs did not have to degrade women or talk about violence or anger. We had it so good back then that we could just turn on the TV and escape into a fun program that the whole family could enjoy. What a wonderful world it used to be.

  • @soccermomish Kathy is perfect in every way.

  • @emdashrocks Can there be more perfect than perfect? If so ,that is the way I would describe Peggy!!!!

  • You know that Lion got FIRED!!!!

  • Ist ja zum PIEPEN !!

  • One of the best videos on YouTube

  • music is so boring now... hahaha

  • I'm diggin' that bass riff.

  • The lion are totally lost! LOL

  • Was the "teacher" doing the low bass voice Thurl Ravenscroft? (Voice of Tony the Tiger)?

  • @wildbilltexas Nope ... Larry Hooper !!!

  • @wildbilltexas That's Larry Hooper, another great bass man.

  • we have to do this in chourus this year lol its so funny myy friend dancing like a dying horse lol its so funny i lip sing lol all the songs except old abhram brown its soo cool lol

  • The lion looks like he's had just about enough of show business.

  • HELL HAS FROZEN OVER

  • They did this song another time around 1967 or 68, but I've never seen it on youtube

  • Wow, That gorrilla can bust a move!!

  • I'm back watching it again. This clip makes me feel so happy, nothing like it on TV anymore.

  • That gorilla can MOVE!!!!

  • That's a bear.

  • the true irony here is that most of the audience for this show was very against all the drugs the hippies were doing at the time... yet they were watching this. Love it.

  • I think the lion is trying to keep its head on. I've been a mascot too, and so many things can go wrong! Always seemed like the robin (I was the Robin of Robin's Donuts) had a loose head (and the boys were forever trying to pull mine off), but it was very strongly attached. Plus, there was supposed to be a little air conditioner, but it never worked at all. Also, at picnics, every other mascot was male, 100% of the time, so there was only one change area. They kept busting in when was changing.

  • This is so great I just watched it 3x, wow we used to take this for granted when it was on every week.

  • wow... no comments

  • that gorilla is so smooth

  • That gorilla is Jack Imel a geat dancer for sure !!!

  • @fordman4444 How do you know he's the one in the gorilla suit??

  • I talk to Kathy on facebook and she verified it was him !

  • Don't know how old you are, but knowing this family personally as I do, that just wasn't gonna happen. Besides, this was fairly typical of what singing entertainment was available in the 50's and early 60's.

  • Obviously some of us have lost our sence of humor,or maybe never had any. Things like this is what made the "Good Ole' days what they were and not to take things so seriously !

  • It maybe a waste of talent to some ,but to most of us it was just cute! Anyway they had plenty of talent left to go around...

  • R. I think this was the Dr. Doolittle tribute show, man.

  • great Music. Lawrence Welk had someof the best

  • lol funny lion

  • great video. it makes me wish to get some animal crackers right now. !! :-) lawrence welk was great, and i liked his shows. i'm not all that familiar with the lennon sisters. i might be too young to recall them. i likely saw them on lawrence welk yet didn't pay attention to their lennon surname. when i was a kid, i hardly ever payed attention to the names of actors and singers. i often knew the names of the characters, yet not the names of the actors playing the parts.

  • this song is now re-done for cha cha cha dance song !! and who knows where i can download it ??

  • Before music lyrics were full of filthy sexual inuendo and killing and violence. I used to watch this with my grandmothers when I would stay at one of their houses on a Saturday night.

  • Was that Thurl Ravenscroft at 0:48 ? It sure sounds like him!

  • Nope,that was Larry Hooper at 0:48

  • The Gorilla is Jack Imel.

  • this is so brilliant! and i love their bows.

  • Pure genius!!! the lion was hilarious!!! he was sooo freakin confused, maybe underneath the fur the poor guy was just pleading for oxygen

  • My guess is the Lion was just trying to keep his head on.

  • cheeeeesy! but cute! :)

  • The lion cracks me up!!!! hahahahahah

  • Love it,Love it,Love it.

    These Girl's are just Brilliant.

    Thanks for this.

  • Man, maybe the lion isn't so bad. It's just that the gorilla is so damn smoooooth.

  • I'm sorry to say but the LION is terribly grim! You're right, the gorilla is ridiculous (in a great way) and really with it - got to be a professional dancer underneath the fur! The gorilla should have been in the center and the LION perhaps behind the band! Oh yeah, The bear is fine!

  • Love bass and sax at the start.

Poor Lion all messed up. :)

  • Somebody put something in my Geritol. The animals- they're dancing.

  • What a lame excuse to get these women in mini-skirts...

  • This clip is just great. I love this clip and especially those Lennon's

  • Dig that heavy bass! The LW band Rocks, and The Lennon Sisters Rule! I give the dancers a ton of credit, it must have been extremely difficult to dance that fast and in unison with the bulky animal costumes and masks.

  • who are the animals

  • I imagine they are the three Welk tap dancers: Jack Imel, Bobby Burgess, and Arthur Duncan. My guess is that Imel is the gorilla -- he is such a (loveable) ham. :-)
