  • I use ooVoo. You can have up to 6 or more if you buy the plan. You can even show your desktop and even record the video chat if you get the plan (Skype does that for free), but the one thing I don't like about Skype is that whenever I video chat with my friend it always disconnect and I know it's not my laptop because when I video chat with other friends it never does that.

  • Palringo is even better, it has its own chatrooms and ims that you can get into or create for conferance chats.. and it allows you to add on certain accounts with programs like aim, yahoo, icq, skype, msn (windows messenger live), myspace, facebook, meebo.... and some others that i havent even herd of. its even got an ipodtouch application. =D

  • paltalk an skype r the best

  • lol "even google talk"

now, basically everyone has gmail. Yahoo and aol fell out of favor. and now in 2010- 26mb is nothing. I like pidgin with FB chat and various addons. I gave miranda another try today, but I couldn't make it look decent without going into to much effort. I find pidgin the perfect between customizability and easyness. Botsentry, Buddy state notification, gmail invisible/tracker, guification, last seen, message notifcation, timestamps, ofline message emulation, more

  • great video :D very informative :)

  • pidgin is my favorite but AIM DOESN'T WORK ON IT ANYMORE I MEAN WHY DOESN'T AIM WORK ON PIDGIN ANYMORE?????????

  • Pidgin is best and digsby i guess but pidgin is best

  • digsby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont use any of them hahaha i use digsby, it has aim, msn, yahoo, googletalk, icq, jabber, the facebook chat. it also supports email, hotmail, gmail, yahoo, aol/aim, and POP/IMAP. it also supports social networks, facebook, myspace, twitter, and linkedin

  • i have used miranda for nearly a year now. i find the interface better the pidgin and takes up much less ram than pidgin and trillian. i may move to another if they develop a webcam system for it

  • I still like Pidgin. Been using it for a very long time. I used it in every OS (besides OS X) I've owned. I was first introduced to it in my Linux days.

Miranda is a good one too! I use both, but in the end, they are great pieces of software.

  • Pidgin's interface is simplier and more user friendly than miranda's but I should agree with the ram part. Miranda has just one big problem, if you want to customize it, you should change nearly everything in it.

  • @alanbamber123

I like pidgin, but could you tell me what things you use for Miranda? looking for a decent skin.

  • @bestSVMS i use the skype through miranda but have to have skype installed. i have all ma emails running throguh it and lots of other things. i have had to design my own skin though

  • I use Trillian for everything--I'm thinking about getting Trillian Pro, actually, which means I can integrate Skype with Trillian. Any ideas?

  • Well, it's intergrating. It'll still take up RAM. I haven't used Trillian for a while now, but I know it would get rid of the ad's in the free version (if it hasn't changed last time I used it)...

I've been using Pidgin (GAIM before) for over 2-3 years now... It's my default IM client...

  • I normally use Miranda. I have a portable version on my memory stick what I can simply take around with me. It uses 5mb of ram as well. (portable version)

  • Nice. :) I use Miranda too sometimes. ;)

  • Gonna be going back to linux soon. What do you suggest for that? I like flashy looking ones and whatnot that are also functional, and I'm sure my PC can take whatever is thrown at it for the most part.

  • There's a application for Linux, it comes in many distros, and it's called Pidgin... It actually comes with Ubuntu... It works fine, but you cannot do audio/video with it. It's fine with me because I only do audio/video in Skype (which is available for linux also). :)

  • I use trillian =)

  • Cool! I used to use it. But, I find Pidgin a lot easier to use. It's simple; simple is what I like. :)

  • that's the only bad part about Pidgin. No video. :/

  • Yeah, but for me personally, I use Skype for my video. Skype is the best when it comes to video... :)

  • im usin Miranda IM

  • Cool! I use that on my other laptop... :) Very very fast. ;)
