There is a further control of emotions to come to. To fully accept what is happening around you. These things do not effect you directly, it's your reaction that causes you to feel an emotion. The best exercise I have found is whenever you feel an emotion, be it happiness or sadness, ask yourself what made you feel that way. What made me angry? Why did it make me angry? Is this the way I want to react to this?

I would like to share with u that I went thought a time of heavy negative thinking, I went to see a doc & all they had for me was pills, labels like depression & therapy, but I soon realized they had no understanding of what to do. I new that it did't have to be that way deep down, I become aware of myself and starting learning what was going on with in. the blessing of what I was doing I only no now,
I don't know how to shift to a positive attitude. I wonder if taking all these anti depressants are a good ideal or a bad one? I lost almost my entire family in one year and it's been five years since it all began and ended . I am depressed and moody every single moment. Sometimes I write poetry, sometimes I pray all day and night, other times I think about my own death. I think your question is one I ask "why do I not love myself?"

When you allow your feelings to disagree and you allow them to be separate from you and you let them have it out . . . almost like a ALLOWING them to have their own arguement, you will find that all your feelings, thoughts, experience, etc. are all very separate from you and they are in their own individual world. I am a counselor and when I do this with my clients, they have their mind blown that everything relaxes and comes to ease.

What about destructive emotions like anger? I feel like anger is so pointless to feel; it only causes harm to myself and other people. Does anger truly have a purpose, ever?
Very true. Also, as I work with my paintings, small shifts in light, color etc change my emotional body. I observe the emo.imprint and work my way towards "real" light etc. Emotions change not just by thought. Look at nature, sun breaking through, you feel emo. shift, thoughts aside.
I am a believer that some people can effect your thoughts just by their presence. Some have a strong positive aura and some carry negativity which greatly effects me.
@baybea I have a question for someone like you, and be honest. If you saw that same "negative person" and they were doing something like sleeping, or even something like being in a store. then would you still say that they are a negative person? Is that right then? (ben stiller frowny face );(
