My wife has done rotations at a number of hospitals and the government run ones(military bases and VA) are consistently rubbish compared to private financed ones. They regularly have to cancel/postpone surgeries and turn away patients due to a lack of beds, etc.

No, that's a big fat lie spread by fundies that GB made even bigger. Some stores decided to be sensitive by saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas," but the fundies don't like it so they want to force those companies to be insensitive.
Kids can pray in school all they like as long as they aren't disruptive. The fact of the matter is that school staff: *Government employees* can't lead a prayer on the job. GB and company don't like it, so they exaggerate into deliberate lying.

Actually he was not comparing it to the assault, but to standing by and not helping someone who was dying, and that really is more or less the same thing. Sure the worlds filled with the needy and the terminally ill, and we can't help them all but a society that complains about having to save the lives of their own countrymen is hardly of a First World calibre.

This happens because up until someone gets killed, everyone dismisses it as "kids being kids" and "part of growing up." Wanna put a stop to this kind of violence? Don't force Christian indoctrination on the kids. Just crack down on bullies the way schools crack down on classmates hugging each other. If we're letting kids commit any act of violence they want, it should come as no surprise that this happens. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

When you are caught in such situation, you naturally expect that surely someone else will step in and save the day, but in reality it rarely happens. Its the diffusion of responsibility that is responsible for this. Plus these people have numbers and weapons on their side so unless I was strapped with an AK, I would just call the cops. Not to be racist, but this is southside Chicago, the onlookers are prob used to these types of situations happening and thus desensitized to violence.
