  • American Hero

  • He should be speaker.

  • spot on rorbin

  • These lies are why liberalism ultimately is in decline.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. 40% of minimum wage earners live in households with incomes $60,000 and higher; and, over 82 percent of minimum wage earners do not have dependents. Most Minimum wage earners are single workers between the ages of 16 and 25. Only about two percent of workers over 25 years of age earn minimum wages.

  • Did you ever think that the reason why 40% of minimum wage earners live in households with incomes of $60K or higher is because they have to have 6+ people living in a house to get by?

Or perhaps it's because young people are staying with parents for as long as possible because they can't afford to move out of home?

  • Thats interesting but it's not what is happening.

  • Did you also think that the 82% of minimum wage earners who don't have children don't have them because they know they can't afford to?

And did you ever think the reason why only two percent of workers over the age of 25 are on minimum wage is because half of them end up living on the streets from depression and alcohol abuse caused by living such a low standard of life?

  • Good for them. I don't acquire what I can't afford either. To do anything else would be irresponsible.

Your second statement about living on the street is just plain false. ( I.E. The Bureau of labor and Statistics)

  • And what happens when everyone smartens up - and everyone gets an education, and these people are more useful - will business owners want to pay a person who cleans their toilets more because they have a college education?

    No they won't.

There will always be minimum wage jobs - it's a fact of society. So we should atleast have decent minimum wage.

  • You clearly have never studied any economics. Your statement makes no sense.

  • You're clearly retarded. I have studied economics at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.

It makes perfect sense you dumb-fuck - there's only so many jobs in society. Society's not willing to pay people on how educated they are - only on what they do.

    Simple concept. Idiot.

  • If you did then you must have flunked it. Not one of your statements makes even the remotest bit of sense.

The job market is not fixed. It is dynamic. I'm sure you have no idea what this means.

  • No - I passed both Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Management of Financial Institutions (which deals with financial markets) with a 5 - (rated on a scale of 1 to 7, 4 being a pass, 7 being the highest, 1 being the lowest). AND I DIDN'T EVEN STUDY.

If my statements don't make sense - did you ever think that you're the idiot?

How much are you willing to pay for someone to clean your toilet or flip a burger?

  • Perhaps if you took your head out of your Republican arse for two seconds you might see a country in turmoil.

The almight United States of America is going to hell in hand-basket because it's run by fucking red-neck, warmongering, idiots.

Fuck... I'm an EXTERNAL observer, and have read so widely on US politics and it's economy, that I have to keep reading and reading and reading trying to convince myself you're not all FUCKED.

  • The American economy is the envy of the world. I am a big fan of Australia but your economy pales in comparison to the per capita output of the United States and Europe has totally stagnated while our GDP keeps rolling along.

  • My comments have nothing to do with Republican or Democrat. They have to do with the ecomonic facts of the minimum wage.

  • You should offset some of your misplaced stress about America and buy a nice index fund that mirrors the U.S. S&P 500 which is up 12% so far this year. Our economy is strong and healthy any the stock market reflects it!

  • Until it all comes crashing down when your government can't continue to fund it's debt - which is nearly US$10 Trillion - nearly 76% of GDP.

And American wants to start another war, and another war and another war.

Apparently it's in an arms race with China now? Bullshit.

It's just trying to avoid paying back US$265 BILLION that it owes China.

Ask yourself this - in the richest country in the world - why are 7 million people below the poverty line?

  • Why do we have equal unemployment figures (both running at around 4.5%)?

Your inflation and interest rates are higher - but at what cost?

No one cares about 15 - 19 students on minimum wage - people with no job skills - they care about the fact that 7 Million Americans that get stuck on minimum wage, or something so close to minimum wage that you'd hardly know the difference.

  • Well rorbin.

I guess I am a little worked up over nothing. Considering it's not my country.

If I'm right... then bully for you. Just don't come to Australia looking for jobs when the US economy hits rock bottom.

If I'm wrong, well then bully for me - I've missed out on some good opportunities to profit on foreign shares.

    Good luck.

  • Deal except that I will be coming to Australia not for employment but to travel and enjoy one of the great & beautiful countries & cultures of this world.

  • George miller is very smart, I like the way he talks about the republicans , I think its about time we raise our minimum wage . Dude, Thatz sucks why do they tell him to shutup and then they block george millers issue about raising minimum wage? .. The system is prolly courrupted idk!
