What a wonderful time this was. at that time channel 5 was named WNEW in ny. I worked there as a volunteer with Patty every year she was there, she is a very lovely, giving woman. I worked in the food service and "green room" under the direction of a very nice woman, "cookie". Patty and her family were always very nice to me !! Out of every hour, 20 minutes of the telethon would come "Live" from ny with patty and john, the other 40 minutes you would see "Jerry".

@wushumon88 poorly choreographed ??? This was a family doing a telethon, it was natural and "Live", they did not practice, it was very real, just as it should be, it was not a "show" or a "production". It was great !!! they were such a lovely, generous family to do this every year !!

@mrtelevision At that time it was channel 5 WNEW with studios in NY. If you lived in the tri-state area, for the telethon, 20 minutes out of every hour would be "LIVE FROM NY WITH PATTY DUKE AND JOHN ASTIN" and the other 40 minutes would be "Jerry".

I miss the days when there were fewer area codes and 10-digit dialing wasn't necessary. NYC still had one area code and NJ had only 3 in 1982. They should do a telphone ancestry project to show who's had which number since the beginning.

Even then..These kids are preparing for their

carrers as actors. I remember Mr.& Mrs.Astin mc'd this telethon in

NYC..I miss their efforts..they're better than the other

hosts.
