Bad rams or bad address decoder on the BSC-1000 board? That would explain the lower part of the screen being all gibberish-colored.
The bars of color on the other screen could have been bad ram on the framebuffer/main video board. What exactly *was* wrong with the pcbs? I'm curious!

Yes...it was a PCB problem and I repaired the 3 boards that were bad causing this error.
