But there is a difference between blocking a fire hydrant during a critical emergency and during something small. They can always park in the middle of the street with their lights on giving the fire truck enough room to pull up beside it and get to the hydrant. By the looks of that street it wouldn't have been very hard to whip around and park facing the other way on the other side of the street.

I cop can park in a no parking as long as they are in a emergency vehicle. This makes it easier for them to leave in case of an emergency. Have you never seen a fire truck parked in a fire lane while grocery shopping

Guess what guys: When a law enforcement officer is responding to a call, they can park where they want, navigate carefully thru red lights, and ... yes ... even speed (gasp)! The tow-truck driver sounds like a complete idiot! Granted, he's just trying to make a living, but he should be working with law enforcement, not working against them! I'm sure he's the running joke in lots of policing agencies!

Damn, some of you are just idiots. If a cop responds to a call, he has every right to park his car in a no parking area, IF he is responding to a call. Chances are he was responding to a call when he parked in that spot. What the truck driver did was wrong, period. Now, if he was at lunch and parked his car to go into a gas station for his break, then yes, legally his car can be towed. BUT the cop was responding to a CALL! Durrr! come on people. don't be fucking morons.

Oh, c'mon, there are so many problems with that argument.
First and foremost (by a mile) if there was a fire, he would certainly know about it, because it would come through on the radio! I don't know how you can refute that fact. Second, he was RESPONDING TO A CALL in the complex. Next time something happens at your home, I'd hope you wouldn't want to wait for the cop to find a place to park.

but theres still a question of the charge. there may have been a good reason why the cop parked there, but still it was not an unlawful and if it was an unlawful to that my friend is a civil matter not a crime not a felony nor misdemenor...the tow truck guy was unlawfully arrested, maybe the fox affiliate should report that.

I think if they are responding to an emergency they can though. If I'm being beaten to death in my house I wouldn't wouldn't want the police driving around looking for a legal parking space before they came and helped. And I think they can pretty much deem any call an emergency.

But there is a difference between blocking a fire hydrant during a critical emergency and during something small. They can always park in the middle of the street with their lights on giving the fire truck enough room to pull up beside it and get to the hydrant. By the looks of that street it wouldn't have been very hard to whip around and park facing the other way on the other side of the street.

Sorry idiot but when a police officer is on a call he is allowed to do things like that. Deal with it. Now, he couldn't do it in his private car or if he was off duty but normal rules don't apply when they are on duty and responding to a call. What if he was responding to a call from your mom who has been shot? Would you want him to waste time looking for a parking spot? Reach way way up there and pull your head out of your butt.

Technically no. Police officers are to be law abiding as a citizen. Parking in a 'No Parking' zone is illegal unless there's an emergency.
Police officers cannot speed, cannot do illegal turns, cannot block traffic, cannot run red lights, etc., UNLESS there's an emergency. What you're proposing is granting kingship to police officers to do whatever to their liking while on duty.
