I'm Japanese and I think the (original?) Hebrew verion sounds quite fantastic! Especially the instrumental part where it's got a bit of the Middle Eastern flavor! I just wish I could understand the lyrics though... Oy vey! : )

However, when I went to Japan last summer, the music stores didn't have "Hedova and Davide" on anything except the Tokyo International Festival CD where this song was performed.
