A good school education was more important for him that to become a famous musician, so he stopped his podigry career to make his psychologist diploma. If you watch carefully, you see a very serious child, and the blues feeling is authentic even in such a little child.
@zzausel I read about his choices in careers. I wish that I had been that smart at 15. He was amazing. Especially in a time when a black 15 year old was lucky to finish high school.
Frank "Sugar Chile" Robinson, born 1940, is a blues and boogie-woogie pianist, singer, from Detroit, Michigan. At an early age Robinson showed unusual gifts as a self-accompanist and interpreter of blues lyrics. As a child prodigy, he appeared with Count Basie on television, performed with Lionel Hampton and played for President Harry S. Truman at the White House. In 1946 Robinson continued to tour Europe and America until the mid-1950s when he opted to pursue an academic career.
I pull my hat in front of this lovely little boy. He got rhythm, he got voice. at that age. a real wonder in my understanding. thanks to pappyredux, thanks for the fact we have youtube.
